RING 8A Automatic Car Battery Charger, Suitable for Vehicles up to 2.5L

This charger is the basic model from Ring but that has not detractged from the usual quality you get from this company. Follow the instructions for connection sequence. This is important for safety reasons and avoiding large sparks. I used it initially to bring a dead battery back to life that was inadvertently discharged by leaving the key in the ignition of my Astra. Took overnight to fully charge the battery. I now top up every weekend and it only takes 20 minutes or so to show the full charge green LED This may take longer in winter when the car uses more electricity for lights heated, windscreens etc . There is a fail safe indicator to ensure correct polarity has been connected. The Astra battery is in the boot almost under the seat and is not easily accessible. Vauxhall have provided a positive connection point under a flip-up cover on top of the fuse box in the engine compartment with the negative connection being an obvious protruding stud in the bulkhead near the fuse box. I use slow charge for top ups and the fast charge for a major dischrge correction. I use a multimeter to check the level of charge before and after charging. A full charge is usually around 14 volts for the 12 volt cicrcuit. A very handy built-in pocket at each side of the charger to store mains lead and battery connectors is a neat touch. The first time I used it the charger got quite hot so I kept an eye on it but during subsequent charges it barely gets warm. I have no hesitation in recommending this piece of kit.

So after not using one of cars for a week the battery was flat, rather than calling someone out to tell me I needed a new battery I decided to give this a try. It's simple enough to use and even if you loose (throw away) the instruction there is a label on the side of the charger that gives you direction. After about three hours on fast charge the car started first time and has been fine ever since. It's quite handy that it's an all in one charger and that all of the leads can be packed away at the sides, seems to be of a good quality build that will last some years. Quick next day delivery from Amazon prime. Car battery was completely drained and I was doubtful whether it could be charged with this charger but after 90 mins was fully charged. Simple to use, no problems with instruction booklet. I used the charger with battery in the car as i didnt want to go to to bother of disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and all was fine. Excellent value , very pleased with product. Recommended.

I need to charge my battery on a 2.0L car after it had been left for an extended period and did not have enough power to start. On day 1 hooked up the unit to the car battery (no mains) and the Charging light went on immediately. Connected the mains and Power light did go on. Left the car for a while and went back to it. It had charged for about an hour. The unit got quite hot, which was a little worrying. Is that normal and to be expected? I'm was not sure my battery was actually charging.....or do I expect too much too quickly? I don't know how long to leave the unit hooked up, as the booklet didn't seem to give any idea. I had not subsequently tried to start the car. This morning, it was very cold and car a bit iced, but went to connect the charger, but thought I'd first check its starting....after patience the car started. A few days later I left the unit charging on trickle and in a couple of hours it was showing fully charged. Car started first time.

Did a decent job of charging a large diesel car battery. Charged it in around 18 hours. If the battery is very flat the charger will show the fully charged light on first connecting to the charger, once the battery has taken a bit more charge it then shows the charging light, until the battery is fully charged when the charged light lights. My charger did buzz a little when charging, but nothing to worry about. Good basic charger that will charge about any battery.

Like a lot of people over the last 14 months, I haven't been using my car on a regular basis and not travelling far. As a result the battery had been running low. I found this charger compact and very easy to use. The fast and trickle charge button a plus!

Nice and simple to use and works a treat. As I charge my motorcycle battery with this charger, the slow rate option, where it puts out under 4 amps is most useful Bought it at a good price with excellent service from Amazon. The instructions are very basic, but they are fine for this product
