Beaphr Soft Flea Collar Velvet
I don't like using the "spot on" type chemical flea treatments because of the mounting concerns about damage to pet's health but I had to re-consider this when my cat became badly infested with fleas during the hot summer this year. I usually use a homeopathic remedy but the infestation was so bad that it just couldn't get on top of it. Same poor results with a flea comb. After worrying for weeks (whilst the fleas got worse & my cat looked depressed) I decided to try this flea collar. I know it is infused with chemicals but that doesn't seem as bad as pouring chemicals on to the skin & it soaking in? I decided to put the collar on my cat for the shortest time possible...& then take it off as soon as the fleas died. Of course the chemical may still enter the cat's system but perhaps not as much as a liquid "spot-on"? The Amazon reviews for flea collars were good, many reporting that fleas died quickly...so I bought one. Anyway, I'm pleased to report that this is true. I left the collar on for 2 weeks to try to catch both adult & newly hatching fleas. I noticed a difference after a few days. To speed-up the process, I combed my cat with a metal-toothed flea comb every day. I was shocked by the number of fleas caught on the first day but after a couple of days there was big reduction. I took the collar off after about 2 weeks. By then I was combing approx 4 fleas per day out of her coat. Since then I have combed her every day & just catch the odd flea. At first she hated the combing but I think she has worked out that she's feels better afterwards & so she tolerates it quite well now. I noticed that she seemed depressed when the flea infestation was at it's worst. She's back to normal now. Very perky! I'm glad I tried this method. I still feel uncomfortable about using a chemical product but the problem was so bad that I had to find a solution that worked! I hope I managed to limit the amount of chemicals absorbed. I have stored the flea collar in a sealed plastic bag. I hope I never have to use it again... but I'm saving it as a tried & tested last resort. I wish I had tried this collar as soon as I noticed the fleas! I intend to comb my cat on a regular basis which will remove any new fleas & detect future infestations quickly! The flea comb was also purchased from Amazon for under 50p & has been worth it's weight in gold! I hope this method has taken us back to a "no fleas situation" & I hope to be able to return my usual homeopathic method...plus the comb.

Good product, decent quality, looks nice, only repels fleas
My cats have not been ill or anything since wearing these as some of the reviews worried me into thinking (and my cats have been caught licking them) but my cats are pretty young and healthy maybe older cats or with medical conditions could be affected. I could not smell anything from them and they were easy to put on my cats, I did them loosely just in case as I didnt want them to hurt themselves and they dont go out anyway. They have kept them on with minimal fuss over the last few weeks, 2 of my cats have took them off, 1 must have just slipped it over he head and the other took it off and it was undone, theres no safety catch but if fitted loosely cats should be ok with them if your willing to risk it, I think theyre better for indoor cats. I think they are repelling the fleas but I have still been finding the black bits (flea poop i think) on my cat most prone to them but no live fleas. You cant use a spot on or other flea treatment with this collar as it says on the packaging so I may still have to eradicate the fleas again after taking the collars off for a while then put new collars on once the fleas have defiantly been eradicated as I think these are only repelling fleas on the tops half of my cats by their collars. Hope that helps, thanks.

My cat managed to 'lose' this really quickly
I used to have indoor cats but, after 17 years or so, they died and I was...catless.... I've always had a cat somewhere about...so I found a big kitten that hadn't fitted into his adoptive family on Gumtree. He's a really smart boy...in many ways. He likes to be stroked and tickled around his neck and chin. But he's an outgoing cat...and I was being bitten to pieces, I thought by cat fleas. So I bought this collar. It looks and feels very nice, was easy to fit.... Theo, my cat, didn't like it. His favourite petting area was restricted.... The collar lasted two days. Then he 'lost' it. The expression on his face was so like my son's when he'd been caught doing something naughty... So I won't be buying another one. But it would probably be great on an indoor cat or one a little less clever.

So so
Not very robust. My outdoor kitten managed to rip it off and I don’t think I ever found it. They look cute though and are soft. Didn’t stay on long enough to see if it deterred fleas so can’t comment on toxicity. Kitten did not get any negative skin reaction which was good. It was odourless.

Caused an awful wound, wouldn’t recommend
My cat scratched more with this on than with fleas! She scratched so bad she has a wound and she won’t stop scratching that now for long enough to let it heal, I’m having to order a recovery suit and wound healing spray now for that. I made sure the collar wasn’t too tight, I took the bell off in case that would annoy her, I don’t know if it was whatever ingredients that are on the collar or if it was just having something around her neck that made her scratch so much, but now I have an even bigger problem. Her neck was all orange coloured from whatever was in the collar. I’d recommend monthly spot on treatment and flea tablets, wash everything you can in the house, spray a flea spray over any fabrics that won’t fit in the washing machine, clean the place from top to bottom, that will do it, but it’s a big no for the flea collar, first and last use of one for us. I’d give zero if I could 😢

After negative reviews I nearly wasn’t going to try!
After reading the reviews I really wasn’t going to bother buying these, as the majority are negative. However, I’m very glad I did! Firstly, what a nightmare I’ve had this summer. Frontline suddenly stopped working on my three cats. None of them have ever had fleas prior, but my Abyssisan became very ill and miserable, so after a trip to the vets I found out she had FAD. I was shocked, then worked out all three of my cats had acquired fleas!! Nightmare, so I had to completely bomb my home and my cats. I spent a fortune on all amazon products. Some worked, others didn’t. I also read a lot about flea collars online, basically stating they didn’t work, bar one brand called seresto, however these are prescription only and my vet stated that no flea collars worked. I changed my cats to advantage, you can buy the same ingredient on here from Johnson’s as back up. I then put these collars on all three of my cats, along with regular use of a flea comb I also purchased off amazon. These look horrible, and I immediately removed the bells. I was sent three red ones, when I would have liked a selection of colours, but no, only red arrived. I placed them on all three cats two days after applying advantage. I left two finger spaces as directed and trimmed the excess. They do have an elasticated part for safety, but yes they look horrible, but they work! Whether they work alone I don’t know sorry, but I used in conjunction with advantage and a flea comb. None of my three cats had bad reactions, as after reading the reviews on here I anticipated that would happen, but I kept checking and none had any problems. The clasps could be better, but they haven’t come off any of my cats. I did remove them whilst bathing my cats, then once dry, I put them back on. All in all I’m very happy with them and I really needed to protect all my cats, but especially my Abyssisian with FAD, so I combined treatments. Negative: Look horrible Clasps not very good Positives: Cheap but effective Didn’t come off Combined in use with advantage Removable when bathing Last a good few months No irritation No strong odour Soft Elasticated safety band If you keep the bell on you can add a name tag

the only thing to work so far!!!
i got a long haired cat a just over a year ago and she caught fleas from long grass almost immediately. we've been dealing with them for nearly a year now and it's a nightmare! my two cats were absolutely riddled, despite the liquid treatments, the tablet treatments, the excessive sprays and flea bombs we've used, it's been awful! bought this collar for the long haired cat to try as a last resort and it's the only treatment so far that's resulted in no live fleas spotted in her, or during a comb through. immediately bought more for the other cat, and to replace the current one. works wonders! great for the price even though they can be unsightly and my cats have surprisingly kept them on. definitely take off the bell and cut the ends, and remember to continue treating the home! fabulous product highly recommend!

Good
Keeps the fleas at bay between treatments but it isn’t enough without treatment. Thank you, regularly order these. Cats have absolutely no irritation like the other flea collars out there. Good value for money.
