Leica Disto D2 is excellent
I have some other Leica camera products so was drawn to this item versus another brand even though its not cheap. It is very compact and comes in a useful tough fabric case. The device itself has a quality feel. Its quite simple to use and ready to go. The product appeared very accurate when I tried it so no reason to doubt the exacting claims on the specification. I am confidant this is the best laser measurer which I need.

A very good product shipped efficiently
Really excellent . . . easy to use and accurate. Not cheap but good value.

Best laser measure about
if you want a laser measure the measures, works out area, and works out volume then this is it. Easy to use and well made. Reliable, as I use it every day and many times each day I tend to go through batteries about once every 2 weeks using Duracell batteries, but this is heavy usage, I have two of these one in use and one spare, I wouldn't be without it.

Small, neat, does the job well.
I am house-hunting: estate-agents plans and dimensions are not to be trusted. I don't need anything more than the basic measuring function really: calculating areas is a useful extra, but few rooms are neat rectangles so I prefer to write things down and do the calculations later. The Leica DISTO D2 does all that with ten times more accuracy than I am likely to need. It fits into a pocket, is easy to read, solidly made, and looks rather more elegant than the competition. My first intention was to buy the competition on the basis that there was no need to pay more for functions I did not need. But Amazon's price was very good and this may be the only Leica I am ever likely to afford. Actually the camera company is a separate enterprise only distantly related Leica-geosystems. Still it's nice to buy something that isn't made in China these days: Swiss technology made in Hungary it says on the label: can't be bad.

Fantastic!
Firstly, this is the first time I have ever considered reviewing anything on Amazon, but this item is worth taking the trouble to do so. Though pretty much everything I need from it is purely to measure distances, the idea of it being more reliable, quicker and less hassle, was a bit of a no brainer, assuming of course it works to your tolerances. My use isn't dependent on it being mm perfect, just as long as it is 99% such. This is the perfect tool for my needs. Usually I am pretty impulsive, but I have had real trouble deciding whether to go with the older, cheaper, but slightly less features D2 or opt for the 210, but the different £40ish, was making me consider whether go with the "better" but more expensive option or lessen the gamble and go with the cheaper option. In reality the cheaper D2 does exactly what I want, but like so many of us, I liked the idea of the new model and of course we soon forget what we spent, just as long as it works.. Considering I ordered the D2, late on a saturday evening, the fact it arrived on the monday morning was superb. Ready to go, with the simple insertion of included batteries, I was expecting quick accurate measurements, but though it didn't exceed my expectations, it does exactly what is says is does, and does it quickly and accurately, which is surely what we want. I have spoken about buying one of these with my business partner, who is, shall we say old school and rather cynical about such things, but after trying it, comparing it with his "expect" eye, he was very impressed at its accuracy and speed. I just know he will be getting one before the month ends. Just as long as he doesn't get the 210, and I then regret going with the cheaper option….

Very good, small, accurate and light.
A great entry level laser tape. The red dot is hard to see in bright light but otherwise it's very good. Small, accurate and light. Fits into shirt pocket which is very useful. Good value and I've had no trouble with it all and I use it daily measuring property.

The best.
Pocket sized & therefore always at hand! Great to calculate volumes, I'm a construction foreman & use it many times daily! I always had an 8m tape before but this item is so much better. I can check dimensions in aided, it's good in low light & it sieges nothing compared to the tape measure. Highly recommended. Great quality item.

Definitely worth buying
This is a great bit of kit, I brought this after my old one finally died. It is very easy to use, has a lot of features, & the Bluetooth connection to the phone & App are very good, and make producing sketches with dimensions very easy. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new laser distance measure.

Funciona perfectamente.

This is a very nice tool for measuring rooms and things if you do not require accuracy beyond an error tolerance of 1/8 of an inch. (*) I laid out several lines from a vertical "wall" in a well lit test location on a desk, the lines being exactly 1" apart, using a digital caliper accurate to 0.0005", just to see how consistent the Lecia Disto D2 is. I know the specs say +/- 1.5mm (approx. 1/16 inch), but I wanted to see how things actually played out. If the tool, for example, is consistent in adding or subtracting 1/16 inch, I could simply allow for that and use it on my project. I started measuring the distance from the wall to each line, visually aligning the line flush with the tail end of the Leica, and it started showing me EXACTLY 8.0", 9.0", 10.0", then started randomly adding or subtracting 1/16th of an inch, despite my best efforts to precisely align it each time. Even using the timer function did not change this. I found a way to sort of 'roll' my finger tip onto the measure button while holding the Leica perfectly still, so it did not move. But this is where the +/- 1/16 comes into play. No way to predict which way the tool will err within its specs, whether it will add or subtract . I don't blame the tool, just wanted to see how it actually handled that tolerance in the hope I could use it. However, I then saw that when I was even the tiniest bit "off" my line, I am talking maybe 0.010" off the line, the Leica also calculated that difference, and since it can only work in increments of 1/16, it has to round up or down, either added or subtracted ANOTHER 1/16 (*) due to "my" error of being less than perfect on the line. So what this adds up to is when I got to the next line, I could only count on a range of as much as 1/8 of an inch in accuracy. + 1/16, or - 1/16 for the tool's tolerance, and again +/- another 1/16 for my own accuracy using the tool (a possible range of 1/8 " overall). The reason I allowed for attempts in deliberately being off the line 'a little' is that it is a rare thing to find perfect 90 degree corners in architecture, especially as it ages. Many 30 year old homes I've seen only dream of "square" corners in drywall construction. So if measuring during remodeling for something like floor molding, the possible gap in the fit I would get while measuring with the D2 is just not going to be accurate enough. Which is the project I am currently doing. It's a very nice tool, quick to respond, and as accurate as the manufacturer intends. It is easy to read, even without the backlight being on, and VERY easy to read with the backlight. But it is not the right choice for me at the moment. So I returned it.
