I started with Jayne's books first and now on to Joe's books. These books are face paced, well researched, interesting and I absolutely love them. I finish one and start on the next. Andrew is a master storyteller. I highly recommend these books if your have an interest in this genre. Review: Fast Pace Thriller - The Last Nazi is a fast moving historical fiction where present day ex CIA and OSI agent and Nazi hunter, Joe Johnson chases one that got away. This is my first book by author Andrew Turpin. This book started off really well for me but I could not quite get my head around one or two of the rather implausible plot twists. Joe Johnston is still developing in this first novel, might be interesting to see how he turns out in the second and third novels in this series. It is a fast paced novel and there is plenty of action for action lovers. I did enjoy it despite the rather convoluted and at times silly plot. It is a well written and suspenseful novel worthy of reading. I plan to read more in the series.

interesting read from the way the third Reich dealt with financing their war.
Good read and the story moved well. The goal and the obstacles were treated well. A little long on the chase but I guess could not be avoided.

Accurate and Engrossing
A surprisingly good story that ranges from WWII to the present day. Both early and later portions of the story take place in an area of Poland I am very familiar with, and the book does a good job providing a historically accurate description of the area and the part it played in the war. The plot driver is a treasure of Nazi gold hidden in tunnels during the last days of the war. Two brothers who escaped the concentration camp during the war use the gold to torment a evil Nazi in hiding in Argentina. The characters are very interesting, and interact in a variety of ways as Joe Johnson, a former CIA agent turned Nazi-hunter, tracks the aged war criminal despite efforts by two governments to protect the criminal. The Nazi's son. old friends, former lovers and enemies work with and against Joe Johnson as he tries to understand the issues and do the right thing. The writing is quite good and keeps the level of suspense high as threat after threat impacts Johnson and his team

Running out of Nazis but still a good read
Fast pace, intriguing and interesting read. It incorporates enough history with recent politics to make for good read. It is always amazing how the Nazi personified the essence and application of evil.

Conspiracy, History, and Great Fun!
The Last Nazi is about a-CIA-agent-turned-Nazi hunter who gets a case relating to a suspicious suicide. A reporter hires him and the two of them make their way to England in search of two Holocaust survivors' jewelry store. As the plot unfolds, the two brothers who escaped Rosen Work Camp in Poland are taking gold that Nazis once stole during World War II. The brothers have an interesting back story. As prisoners, they were required to hide the gold deep within tunnels that they helped build. SPOILER ALERT: The brothers get their revenge by selling the gold to a former Nazi at a set price. My Review: The story is loaded with facts as well as conspiracy theory. I loved the story, the research, and the historical angle the author used throughout the story. Although the plot could be complicated and confusing at times, the author would quickly review parts of the story so you were up to speed while reading.. I enjoyed the book immensely and will probably read more of this talented writer. I highly recommend this book for WWII buffs and conspiracy freaks like me! Dina Rae

Very Suspenseful, BUT . . .
I read books aloud to hubby, as we enjoy sharing events "as they happen". We also share the same interests, especially anything to do with WWII; thus, this book piqued our interest from the title alone. We liked the book very much, but it was hard to get into and did not flow well. The author jumps around an awful lot; we had a hard time keeping the characters straight, constantly having to refresh our memory from chapter to chapter as to who was associated with what organization and what their involvement was in the story. Thus, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. On the other hand, there were many parts of the book that were suspenseful and exciting, and we are talking about trying the next Joe Johnson thriller in the series, "The Old Bridge". It's not about WWII, unfortunately, but neither are the Cormoran Strike detective mysteries that we love so much by J.K. Rowling, and would be a good book to read while we anxiously await J.K. Rowling's 4th novel in the detective series, supposedly being printed as we speak. One last comment: I can imagine this author -- Turpin -- writing a novel about the German U-boats in the Atlantic during WWII -- oooh boy, now THAT's something we could really get into!

Hidden Gold
Caught my attention from the get-go. Full of suspense, hard to put down. The writing style enabled me to visualize each scene. This book made me wonder how many untold stories of WW2 are still out there waiting to be told. Highly recommend if you are into covert operations, spies, & history. By

The story is well written, the author got inspired by the real search for a nazi gold train which was supposed to be hidden in the Owl Mountains in South Poland

I'm particularly interested in the Holocaust as my Father was a survivor, and I'm currently writing as book about him and my Irish Mum, and what he went through during the war and afterwards. Of course, books about the 2nd World War interest me, and this is a great example of a well-written and researched book, showing in detail the horrors of that time and the after effects. The main character is very likeable, especially as he has a mother who shares the same name as me! The story is interesting and I managed to read every word on every page, even though it is a long book with small writing! I have already delved into some of the research tools Andrew used and have also checked out his other books. The next one is on order, and I hope he keeps up the pace with that one too. All in all, a great first book and one which I can only recommend to friends and family.

Liked it very much, has the capacity to keep one glued. Nice narrative on the aspect of how the shady criminals from Nazi era still found a leash of fresh life by conning others and also how even the state agencies stooped low enough to employ those criminals for complicated motives
