Surprisingly very good
A disposable fountain pen is a bit of a novelty and people *will* ask you about the pen when they see you using it. Happily it's a surprisingly good fountain pen with a much better nib distortion and even stroke (a reasonable lack of nib flex) than it should have for this price. The ink flows nicely with little pressure and the flow is just right - not too much ink is delivered. When I first looked at the nib I didn't see any "fins". Fins - a groove like plastic sponge at the back of most nibs - are essential in a fountain pen to absorb an over supply of ink to the nib and prevent leaking. The fins are actually present in the V-Pen but within the body of the pen behind the nib. This must be a measure by Pilot to reduce the cost of nib manufacture. What amazes me is how well it works - if anything better than the traditional in nib structure. It also means that the pen is less messy around the nib/back of the nib. The ink (black in my purchase) is also of fairly good quality. It dries nicely in terms of time to dry and evenness of the result. There is no blotting on average quality (80gsm) paper. Like all fountain pen ink however it does mean that you have to use thicker paper than most economy reams provide. I wasn't happy with the results on 50gsm paper in terms of the ink showing through and blotting but this, of course, is a comment on fountain pen ink in general and not a comment on this pen. The barrel of the pen is not filled to capacity with ink. It's a bit naughty of Pilot, I think, to have closed off at least an inch of the barrel to the ink reservoir. This gives the pen a usable length in terms of grip but it's a shame that the length wasn't used to store more ink. I estimate that there is probably a bit less ink in the pen as there is in a Parker Quink cartridge. Each pen lasts me about four weeks with, approximately, 30 minutes of writing per day. The feel of the pen is though very good. The body of the pen is, for me, the right size - a nice grip without being bulky. I've also done leak tests - inadvertently leaving the pen nib down in my pocket all day (doh!) - and it didn't leak. These pens are not going to give premium fountain pens a run for their money in terms of quality of ink or solidity of the nib. However if, like me, you don't want to spend money on a more expensive fountain pen (which you'll just lose or break through stress playing with the clip) then the Pilot V-Pen is an excellent choice. The pen is disposable and is definitely not designed (or rather marketed) to be refilled after the ink is depleted. It is however possible to refill the pen on a DIY basis (Youtube is your friend). Personally I wouldn't advise this. The pen as it stands has been designed to resist leaks. I suspect that once you start fiddling with the seals you may be asking for trouble. I've notice after a few weeks of switching from a ballpoint pen to the V-Pen that my writing is less cramped and pressured (and my hand is having to work less hard too!) I would definitely buy another set of V-Pens.

A proper fountain pen
I buy these every year, or as soon as stocks are running low. Occasionally i give them away to people who express their interest and admiration. Why do I like them? Because they give you nice smooth handwriting and are not messy like cartridge fountain pens. A proper ink fountain pen without the fuss!

a pen which produces smooth clear writing...therefore for me a pleasure to write with..
Pilot V-Pen Disposable Fountain Pen Wallet of 3 black are a set of pens I would happily recommend to all customers who like to write with a pen which produces nice even strokes. I was amazed when I received this set as the fluid pen strokes makes writing once again a pleasurable experience. Many years ago when I was at primary school we were taught to write properly with fountain pens as the nibs produces neater writing, and I still believe this is the case. Like many people I have got out of the habit therefore when I grabbed any old pen my writing would need a translator to overcome the untidiness and even found myself wondering what I actually did write down. Therefore when I seen the Pilot fountain pen advertised I decided to give them a go and I am so glad I did as now once again I am producing writing which I can read and not only that other people can read my writing mainly because of the nib as I have noticed the way the pen glides across the paper with no blotchiness etc. Pilot V-Pen Disposable Fountain Pen Wallet of 3 Black are a set of pens which I would recommend to any customer who wants a pen which works well and not only that unlike ordinary fountain pens there is no leakage of ink as there are no ink cartridges to loosen and make a mess or the ink well within the pen which are in the older style fountain pens. These pens are a nice cheap pen which works well for me and I do like the writing they produce which are the two main reasons I am recommending this set of pens as an excellent buy.

Cheap and Cheerful
In a world where few of us actually use a Fountain Pen any more, these disposable fountain pens are an ideal pen to have at hand when needing to sign important documents. They do have a rather thick nib, but it has a good ink flow and whilst one review states that the ink shows through on the other side of the paper, I found that if I use a quality writing paper, then the seep through is absent. My only gripe is that I should have liked to have had the choice of a fine or medium nib. The word "erasable" is printed on the barrel of the pen, but it does not seem to erase with a basic school ink eraser. Available in Black, Blue, Red and Green, I prefer the black. A cheap alternative to the old style fountain pens which always seemed to leak into my blazer pocket and drive my mother crazy. Worth trying at this price.

Great Noleak Fountain Pen
This is a great fountain pen that comes already inked and ready to use. The nib, on the one I purchased, was a medium and made of steel. It writes very well, nice and smooth. Ink flow is very good and my one did not require 'working in' before ready to write - so, I could leave it for quite a while, uncap it and use it straight away. I've had no blotting or dripping. This is a very nice pen to use - they should bring it out in some different designs to make it look more up market. You get a lot of ink with it and mine haven't run out yet. They can be refilled with a bit of difficulty (see Youtube) but I haven't tried this yet.

Great pens, but sent back to being too broad
These were my first foray into fountain pens and although I bought a fine pack (at least that is what it said in the description) these where way too broad for my small writing. So anyone purchasing these with small writing I would advise to get fine at least, maybe an extra fine if there is one. However for the price, you could pay a bit more and get a proper fountain pen.

Our kids asked them to buy. We did. Everybody is happy. Though the price is quite high, there is quite a lot of ink in a pen, so overall value for the money is good. and of course, you can forget ink capsules.
