It works fine as a pinpointer. That's it's purpose, and it does a good job. To those who gripe that it isn't a "metal detector", well, it is but is specialized. It's not for finding lost keys in a yard, buried treasure or coins, etc. It is for pinpointing them in a shovel full of dirt and the like. It's of decent quality, comes with a holster and lanyard, and with an extra battery. It is a good value, and I am ordering a second for my wife; she loves it.

This pin pointer is an excellent tool, but it's important to clarify that it is not a metal detector. Unlike a metal detector, which is designed to locate metal objects buried underground, this device is specifically meant for pinpointing the exact location of a target once it has been identified. When you bring the tip of the pin pointer close to your target, it provides rapid vibrations and sound alerts, indicating that you're very close to the object. Before making my purchase, I watched several videos on how to enhance the detection range of similar pin pointers. However, I believe that increasing the range is unnecessary for most users. The primary goal is to determine the precise location of the target, rather than just knowing it's a few inches away. In my opinion, many of the lower reviews for this device may stem from user error or unrealistic expectations about its capabilities. When used as intended, the pin pointer performs admirably. The build quality is robust, and the sound is loud enough to be easily heard. Its bright orange color makes it highly visible reducing the chances of misplacing it (I added shrink tubing as a customization). However, if you're considering this device as a flashlight, you will be disappointed. Its strength lies in its pinpointing ability, and it excels in that regard.

Works great, so far. For the price, I can’t complain. It’s accurate, easy to use, and hasn’t failed me.

Barely worked for a week we changed the batteries but that didn’t seem to hep sometimes it beeps others it doesn’t right over metal. We got it for our sawmill to make sure logs don’t have metal nails or bullets in them before they turn into boards. Essentials. I should not have gone cheap lesson learned

Terrific product for finding lost small metal and a very fine value for the price. It found an aluminum weed whacker part in rough grass about six inches tall and tangled. The part was a 0.6 inch diameter aluminum eyelet that had fallen down in the rough grass and was very hidden. The XPSGOLD has a short detection range of a few inches but it was totally useful for my needs. I poked the end into the grass at various points and listened for the beep. I know I'll use it again. It also has a stationary beep so it is much easier to pinpoint the small metal item. It came with two 9-V batteries, one is a spare. A great value, easy to use, and good instructions. I highly recommend it.
