No lipsync issues. Seamless connecting when powering on devices.
Using this because Sony can't get their act together with the Bluetooth on thier even most up to date TVs. Sony TV will only support certain sets of Bluetooth Headsets. I presume this is so they can gain more revenue from people who buy their TVs by forcing them to go Sony only. So I did this. And I had the same problems with their supported products namely, only being able to connect once. Once I disconnected the headphones, or turned off the TV to sleep, I had to reboot the TV to enable a new connection, terrible Bluetooth range, TV Bluetooth signal was destroying Bluetooth signals from my NVidia Shield and other devices. This Trond solved all those issues, I now have BT turned off on the TV and unpaired my new Sennheiser HD 4.50s from the Shield. Now I can sway to and from shield and TV seamlessly. I can't hear any delay in lipsync, and, there is a significant reduction is noise that I was experiencing before. Now if you put your headphones on and turn up the TV sound at the same time you can hear some kind of delay but its damn close. Personally I am not using APT X Low latency, just standard APT X and its damn good, I cannot visually see a delay. When I power on my headphones it connects instantly. Don't have to do anything. Also, the quality is excellent, I've only used Digital Optical from TV. If there was one single picky issue I could comment on it would be the fact you can't unable the blue flashing light on the unit when nothing is connected which was disturbing at night. Solved by a piece of black tape. Also, I imagine there will be a delay with 'truely' wireless because truely isn't for Audio Visual uses.

Great for revitalising an old hi-fi system, or for adding bluetooth audio to your TV
I was searching for a bluetooth transmitter to add the capability to stream music from my smartphone and tablet to my 25 year old hi-fi system. I opted, in the end, for the TROND BT-DUO X as it seemed to offer everything I was looking for including support of aptX in both receive and transmit modes (many bluetooth transmitters and receivers seem to support aptX in transmit mode only and default to SBC in receive mode). aptX gives lower latency than SBC and slightly better audio quality. Initially, I had a few problems with charging the device, but these were promptly resolved by TROND customer support who were excellent. As I mentioned, I mainly use the device in receive mode, and my experience is that it pairs easily with my smartphone running Android 9. I have tried it with my tablet and other phones running older versions of Android and have not experienced any problems with pairing. The blue led on the front flashes twice when aptX is enabled or once when SBC is in use. The sound quality of music streamed is very good and the device has a nice weight to it and sits nicely next to the hi-fi unit. It's also worth mentioning that I did not experience any dropouts despite the fact that the device was positioned next to my wireless router. I have also used the device in transmit mode to stream the audio from my Samsung TV to my wireless earbuds. Once paired, audio quality was very good and I did not experience any dropouts. I did find, however, that after switching off the headphones and the transmitter, the two devices would not automatically re-pair when they were turned back on in the same way that my smartphone, for example, re-pairs with my bluetooth earbuds. I found that I needed to initiate the pairing process to reconnect the earbuds to the transmitter. Not, a big deal and, in my opinion, a minor inconvenience. Overall, I would recommend the TROND BT-DUO X and my experience with it, so far, has been positive.

Excellent quality but occasional drop-outs
As a person with impaired hearing, I am using my BT-DUO X bluetooth transmitter/receiver to transmit audio via optical cable from my non-smart Samsung TV to the Siemens EasyTek bluetooth receiver that I wear round my neck and that is paired in turn with my Siemens bluetooth hearing aids as well as with my iPhone. My experience so far has been largely positive, though with occasional problems. On the positive side: 1. The quality of the audio is absolutely stunning! As I watch TV, I can now hear every word with crystal clarity, perfectly separated from any musical background etc., and with such excellent stereo that it is almost “surround sound” — far better than anything I have been able to achieve, with my defective hearing, from a sound-bar and woofer. 2. The latency is very acceptable. The time-lag between lips moving and the vocal sound being heard is barely perceptible, and is largely compensated by the quality of the audio. 3. It works not only at my usual viewing distance of about 3 metres, but also, with a few blank spots in far corners of the room, up to about 7 metres. It even works outside the room on the staircase and first-floor landing! On the problem side: 1. The link from the transmitter to the EasyTek sometimes drops out or is reduced to an occasional stutter, even after it has been working perfectly for an hour or two, and without my having moved or changed position in any way. In some cases, this seems to result from activity on the iPhone (e.g. by using the Siemens app to alter the volume on the hearing aids) and can be avoided by switching the iPhone off. But in other cases, I have been unable to find a cause, even after testing with other electronic equipment switched off or placed well away from the transmitter. 2. The link can sometimes be re-established by a single press on the multi-function button on the transmitter. But in other cases, this does not work (even after repeated tries), and the only solution I have found is to go through the full pairing process between the transmitter and the EasyTek, which can take several minutes, and is therefore frustrating when it occurs in the middle of a must-watch TV programme. 3. As a minor gripe, the Welcome Guide is printed in such a small type-face that I find it hard to read. I have drawn this to the attention of TROND, who have replied immediately, recognising the problem and providing an electronic copy that is much easier to read. Conclusion: 5 stars for the sound quality; 3 stars for the drop-out problem (though this may be a bit harsh because it may be due to unidentified interference from other equipment and therefore not the fault of the transmitter); average 4 stars. Edit: After further experimentation, I can now upgrade my rating of this product to five stars. The occasional drop-out problem is not the fault of the transmitter but is due to the way in which the EasyTek handles its simultaneous linkage to the hearing aids, to the EasyTek app on the iPhone and to the TROND. The solution is to ensure first of all that the EasyTek is correctly paired with the app (which can require several attempts, including disconnecting and reconnecting the iPhone Bluetooth link to the EasyTek, and force-quitting and reopening the app until pairing is complete). Then switch on the TROND and pair with the EasyTek. Once sound is transmitted the app automatically loads a "Music Player " programme into the hearing aids, and the sound quality is amazing. If you stay within range, there should be no dropout. If you move out of range, the EasyTek may or may not re-pair automatically with the TROND on your return: if it does not, a single press on the TROND's multi-function button usually does the trick. These tests were done using NHS-issue Siemens Teneo M+ hearing aids. Getting the multiple pairing set up correctly on the EasyTek can be fiddling and frustrating, but the final result is well worth the effort.

TV to wired headphones
I bought a Trond BT-DOU X to transmit and a Trond BT-RX S receiver because I wanted Apt-X low latency to give a wireless audio connection from my Samsung TV to my Bose QC15 headphones with high quality audio and no apparent audio delay. The transmitter is connected to the TV using a USB cable for power and an optical cable (that came with the transmitter) for audio. The receiver is attached to my headphones using Velcro tape and I made a short 3.5mm stereo jack cable to connect the receiver to the headphones. The receiver is small enough that I don’t notice it when wearing the headphones and I was surprised to find that there is no noticeable difference in audio quality between the wired connection and the new wireless connection. There is no noticeable audio lag when watching TV so the low latency works very well. The instructions are not very clear regarding pairing the two devices and to do this you must ensure that neither the transmitter or receiver are paired with another device and this is shown by each the LED flashing blue & red on the transmitter & receiver. When you place the transmitter & receiver close to each other with both LEDs flashing blue then red, they will pair and once the devices have been paired they will link automatically every time they are switched on. I have tried other (sometimes expensive) digital wireless systems in the past and this is the first one that does the job well. The receiver can be linked with any device that transmits Bluetooth so I will also use it to listen to audio from my phone. When I bought this system I was unsure whether it would work and I wrote the review to help others in a similar position. I hope that you find the review helpful and I recommend the system.

The latency.
A nice compact unit offering the choice of receive and transmit of Bluetooth. Looks a quality item and very compact. I bought this hoping I could take the audio from an arranger keyboard and live sound from a midi linked computer, and send that to Bluetooth headphones. Sadly the latency of this item is still too much to allow someone to play a keyboard and expect the sound to instantly reach the headphones. Indeed, there is such a noticeable delay that it prohibits this type of use. I purchased some new expensive headphones with the latest spec bluetooth tech, but still the latency remains to high. The actual audio quality is terrific. No issues there for sure. But if you think there is negligible latency that you won't notice if playing an instrument through this unit, think again. Don't do it. Continue to use wired headphones. Otherwise, for watching video media or just music, this unit is fine.

Great solution for wireless connection of hifi to my surround sound system
I have a somewhat ageing hifi system (pre bluietooth) originally with wired connections to wall mounted and somewhat large speakers. A littly ugly. So I had a brainwave - can I add Bluetooth transmission and get the sound into my surround sound system amplifier (also without Bluetooth)?. I bought two of these, one to receive and one to transmit. Set up was reasonably easy - two simple switches, one to set to transmit or receive, one to select which output is used. All the wires I needed to connect were included with the devices, which are very small and unobtrusive. Good instructions on the pairing. A total success - a neat wireless connection was achieved - and it sounds great. As a bonus I can now Bluetooth from my phone and my tablet into the sound system, and when I disconnect that bluetooth connection it automatically re-pairs to the hifi when I switch its transmitter back on. Perfect. Im not sure of the range - I am connecting across about 5-6m.

Perfect solution to TV sound problems
Great piece of kit. I have paired it some to blue tooth head phones to watch TV. I suffer a bit with tinnitus and have been struggling with the dialogue on some tv shows. My wife does not like the TV to loud so we have suffered an aural incompatibility problem. This device has solved the problem, we both can set volume to suit our selves. It was easy to set up and pair to phones. I have the trond paired permanently to one pair of phones so I never have to set up again, I just switch them on and I can listen straight away. The transmitter is hidden behind TV out of sight. I would recommend this device to anybody who wants an easy solution to TV sound.

Useless as a receiver on home HiFi system
Who'd have thought it would be so hard to connect an Amazon Echo to a hifi amplifier? I have a surround sound amplifier with a spare SPDIF optical input, so I decided to purchase a bluetooth receiver with an SPDIF output to play music digitally. First I purchased a "TROND TV Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver Optical, 3.5mm Wireless Audio Adapter". Initially this worked perfectly as a receiver. A simple "Alexa connect" or "Alexa disconnect" command would have the Echo connect/disconnect and, as one would expect for an end-to-end digital connection, the sound quality was spot on. Unfortunately if I disconnected to use the amplifier to watch TV, for example, and have the Echo use it's internal speaker, after five minutes or so the TROND receiver would turn itself off and would then no longer be available when I issued the command "Alexa connect". This necessitated me having to walk over to the device and pressing it's power button. Useless, so I sent it back. Since doing so TROND keep emailing me asking if I'd like to try the product again using transmit mode instead. Seriously do they not understand why their customers want to use receive mode? It's worth noting that there are a large number of devices which all appear to be clones of some reference design, the TROND being just one. Taotronics, Sonru, Goin, Tronsmart and countless others all with the connectors and switches in exactly the same place suggesting a common PCB. These all cost in the range £22 to £28. Having hunted for user guides they all appear to behave the same way, so avoid! Next attempt was a "DigitalLife Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver for HIFI System", selected as it clearly wasn't one of the clones. It cost £25 and whilst it worked initially it suffered from a constant background noise which just shouldn't be the case if it was relaying the digital bluetooth data faithfully to the SPDIF output. Worse, it would insist on reconnecting to the Echo, so if I say "Alexa, disconnect" I would hear the Echo start to say "Disconnected" through it's internal speaker, but then the end of the word would be played back through the amplifier. Useless, so I sent it back. Next I tried a "Besign Long Range BE-RTX Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver" for £36. Unfortunately Amazon reported this as damaged in transit and gave me a refund so I never even got to test it. That brings us to this item, the "Avantree RC500 100ft Long Range Bluetooth 4.2 Receiver" for £45. This claims Amazon Echo compatibility so I expected flawless behaviour. First the good news: 1. It sounds perfect, faithfully passing the digital bluetooth audio out of the SPDIF connection to my amplifier. 2. It doesn't fall asleep, so I can connect/disconnect without having to turn it back on. Unfortunately all is not perfect. Four seconds after saying "Alexa, connect" I hear "connected" from the RC500's internal speaker. I can then start to use the Echo to play music or whatever through my amplifier. All appears well, however after 30 seconds I hear the following from the Echo through my amplifier. "I don't see anything to connect. Check the device you'd like to use and make sure that Bluetooth is turned on. To setup a new device go to your Alexa app". This is odd as clearly the Echo has managed to connect at this point. So, this would appear to be a problem with the Echo more than the RC500. It's odd though that I never got this message with either of the other devices. In short I'll not be returning the RC500 unless somebody can recommend a Bluetooth receiver which really is 100% Echo compatible as this device claims to be.

Was geht und was nicht

Solved my Bose Soundtouch Connection Problem
I did a lot of research before I bought this. I had a very specific use case for it. I wanted to rebroadcast my sound output to 6 different Bose Soundtouch wireless speakers. And it's wonderful for that. Here were the issues: - Bose Soundtouch devices will not rebroadcast through the aux port on the device, only bluetooth connections. It's limitation of Bose Soundtouch devices. - I wanted only sound to be picked off, therefore transmitted. - I have optical audio ports on the TVs. - I have 6 Bose Soundtouch devices to connect all at once because I wanted to be able to listen to a show, news, music, sports, while doing other things around the house and even outside. - I wanted to be able to easily disconnect the TV audio and play it through a normal sound system when the delay (1 to 2 seconds) from the sound rebroadcast was not acceptable when actually watching the TV. - I wanted the bluetooth disconnect to not effect other wireless usage of the 6 Soundtouch speakers when not using Bluetooth audio feed. With the help of this device, I have met all my above criterion. I am able to use the wireless broadcast of sound through the speakers located in various places around the house and outside. I am able to use the optical audio cable that comes with Trond bluetooth transmitter and connect it to the TV. TV audio also still works normally. I am then able to hit the button on top of the bluetooth transmitter and connect to the Bose speakers to rebroadcast. I am able to easily turn it back off, holding the button on top for about a second, and use the Bose system normally. Super simple and functional. Reconnecting bluetooth has not been a problem, ever. No more than a button press has been required. I have never found a good use of the optical audio port on my flat screens until now. My stereo is too old for that sort of connection. I rarely use the battery so I can't comment on that. I leave the device plugged in all the time. Also, I have moved it about 25 ft away and the sound was never interrupted. I suspect your mileage may vary on the distance given interference conditions in your own house. But I'm quite pleased with this performance for a bluetooth device.

Bassa latenza, ottima portata
