Good board game especially for kids who like action films, superheroes, gaming, etc.
It's a very simple game that is about 50% luck 50% mild strategy. Quick to finish, in about 20 mins usually, game's done. Obviously this will suit some and not others. For my kids, who don't have very long attention spans, it's perfect. Lots of replay value. Since we got this game, it's the only one they bring out whenever they want to play a board game. The components are all very well-made - vibrant and multi-coloured, card pieces made of very strong, thick card, playing cards are laminated with a glossy sheen, and the plasticky bits aren't flimsy or tacky. The instructions are printed on good glossy paper and in colour. I am impressed with how well-made the materials are, so I feel it is worth the £25 odd that it costs. For what the game is, it can seem expensive, but it does come made with quality materials. Will certainly last many hours of play with primary-school-aged kids. Cannot even compare to the quality of materials for monopoly for instance. I'm not sure this would really appeal to as many adults. It would probably appeal more to kids who like action films, monsters, superheroes, gaming, etc. Not so much for kids who aren't into such things. It is a nice board game to take the kids off wanting screen time for a bit... for us, it turned out to be a good buy.

An excellent game. Would definitely recommend.
King of Tokyo is a family board game where each player fights to either be the first player to collect 20 victory points, or to be the last monster left alive. Each turn the player rolls the 6 dice, then re rolls any or all of them a maximum of 2 times. The result of the dice dictates the outcome of the turn. They might gain victory points, or seal damage, or gain energy cubes or any combination. Energy cubes can be used to buy cards from the card deck which provides your monsters with beneficial continuous effects or abilities. This is a brilliantly simple game that has endless replayability. It can be played from a young age, provided the players can read. The game and it's components are of an excellent quality. I have played it with my family, including my 4 year old who enjoys rolling the dice. And I've played it with my mates in the pub. In every setting as soon as one 20 minute game ends, the next words spoken are always "time for another?" An excellent game, Would definitely recommend.

Great family game
Such a fun brilliant game. Quite easy to learn and possible to play a rewarding game with just two of you. I would say it’s suitable for age 7/8 and up

Great game for both kids and adults
I had known of this game for years as I often saw it at board game nights, but had never actually played it myself. It came highly rated on both Amazon and Board Game Geek so decided to give it a go. Our first game was with two adults and two kids (recently turned 7 and 9yo). I took a little bit of time reading the rules beforehand, so we could get straight into playing. The rules were fairly clear, the bits that seemed confusing (mainly the leaving Tokyo mechanic) made sense quickly once we started playing. My kids have grown up playing games, the other adult we played with is not a gamer, and everyone was quick to understand the game. The first game took us quite a while, but in my experience that’s normal for new games where none of the players have played before. I imagine subsequent plays will come in closer to the 30 minute mark predicted on the box. We love the artwork of this game, it’s very evocative and my kids were very enthusiastic about picking their characters and play-acting with them. The components feel high quality and fun to play with. The power cards make the game really interesting and will ensure good replayability. One final thing I like about the game is that it has a small footprint, i.e. it doesn’t take over a whole table. To sum up: simple gameplay, good for kids & adults, interesting mechanics, great artwork, quick playtime & small footprint.

Great game!
I gave that as a gift to a friend and we play it very often. There is a learning curve to get all the rules but it goes smoothly after that. I strongly recommend!

Bel gioco in cui si fondono strategia (fare le scelte giuste al momento giusto) e fortuna (lanciare i dadi). le partite scorrono veloci, e la loro durata non è mai eccessiva.

Really great game to play with your friends and family. It has just the right amount of luck, tactics and complexity to be enjoyed by anyone. The more players the more fun the game!

A fun and easy game to learn and explain. This game is great, with very little complications. This game is great for 4-6 people, you can play with 2 or 3, but playing with 2 players is just unrealistic for either players having a chance to win if one is in Tokyo. Everyone i've played this with has enjoyed it. It's great fro partys and get togethers, or just playing with family at home. I'd suggest this to anyone with a family that they play games often with, and to young adults who enjoy victory point based games with chance. Overall I am enjoying this game, and I hope you give it a go!

First of all, this is such a fun game if you’ve never played it before- easy to understand, and just the right balance of luck and strategy. We played it so often on a ‘staycation’ with friends that we bought it a month or two later. The pieces are the quality you’d expect from any mainstream board game, nothing that necessarily stands out, but the characters are an especially fun element in terms of design. I definitely recommend purchasing this used-like-new if the option is available- it arrived in perfect condition. The only thing I would add is that it might be helpful to sanitize it or wipe it down if you’re concerned about the cleanliness of the individuals who originally bought the game.
