Canon E-58II Lens Cap for 58mm Thread

Good quality part as expected from the brand.

Just got this to go on my Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II. These new mark II lens caps are pretty handy with their centre pinch design to be able to more easily remove and attach them without having to remove the lens hood. They are also well made as you'd expect of a Canon original product. Another thing worth noting and that may be interesting to others is that they really lock down nice and securely on B+W XS-PRO filters. These filters are the slim profile type and only have a very small front thread and as users of them will know the old style caps although they did clip on to them they didn't do so all the way or feel particularly secure, but these new ones do so much better. In fact once attached you can pull forward on them and they won't budge. Just a little unexpected bonus that I thought may interest some. One little point is that they are slightly thicker than the old ones but I can't think where this would be much of an issue. I'm glad Amazon UK themselves finally stock this item. They've got the 58mm too but that's all as far as I can tell. Hopefully they'll get more of each thread size. I'm sure I and others could happily live with the old style caps but I personally think for a little bit of money they're worth purchasing.

I bought this lens cap to replace a third party cap that kept falling off and ending up in the bottom of my camera bag. The cap is well made, fits perfectly and is yet to come loose. It does not come with one of those little straps to attach it to the lens, but for me this is fine as I would rather that the cap was safely in my pocket than dangling around. If you are looking for a cap for a 58mm canon lens, I would say it is worth paying a couple of pounds extra for the quality and reassurance that this one provides.

Fits like a glove. Annoying price jump for the name brand given that it's literally just a bit of plastic but it's a good replacement.
