I bought the Alter Eco 85% Dark Chocolate (Peru) as a gift for a friend, and it turned out to be an absolute hit. She was genuinely impressed, and honestly, I understand why. This chocolate has a beautifully rich, deep flavor that feels luxurious from the first bite. It’s intense but not overwhelming, with a smooth texture and subtle fruity notes that make it really special. What stood out the most is how balanced it is for such a high cocoa percentage - bold, yet refined, without excessive bitterness. You can really taste the quality of the cacao, and it feels like a proper treat rather than just another dark chocolate bar. It made a perfect gift, and I’d definitely choose it again for someone who appreciates high-quality, sophisticated chocolate. Highly recommended!

This is now my favourite dark chocolate bar. It doesn't taste bitter to me and like the label states; it tastes "Rich, deep with fruity notes". It only has 14g of sugar so there's I don't feel much guilt about eating it & it also has 12g of fibre which is also good - from what I understand, the lower the sugar & higher the fibre the better in terms of healthy foods as the fibre helps reduce any blood-sugar spike (as well as being good for gut health). The sugar content isn't quite equal with the fibre but you'd have to go to 90-100% cocoa mass for the sugar to be lower). It only has 3 ingredients which is reassuring (cocoa mass, cocoa butter & sugar). We're told eating dark chocolate (with at least 70% cocoa mass) is good for us (in moderation) and this chocolate bar allows me to eat something healthy that I like and feel good about it - what more could you ask for?

I prefer my chocolate a little more bitter than this but still, it's better than the chocolate I can buy in supermarkets, so yay for this one. I can only eat one a fortnight though so I don't even mind the price.

Quite simply the best chocolate I've tasted! I usually eat milk chocolate but struggle with dark. Not this brand. I started with the 70% but now I prefer the 85%. It's smooth, fruity and not a trace of bitterness. Yes it's a bit pricey but honestly it's worth it. No nasty emulsifiers or anything in it. It's actually good for you eaten in moderation. I'll be ordering more.

Great chocolate, real chocolate, chocolate how it should be. Only problem....when did the price rise ? Extortionate! I can't buy this anymore due the hike in price, also why i gave only 3 stars

Tasted clean and cool, no grainyness smooth, no bitter aftertaste. Tasted of dark chocolate and smoothness. Smelt slightly of blackcurrant. Gorgeous. I've tried alot in search of a good one [g&b, lint]. I'm so glad I have 3 of these (min order). I have had radiotherapy and my taste were off but coming back and I was primarily looking for a low sugar chocolate and this is 14gm sugar in the whole 100gm bar. Which in 10 pieces is 1.4gm sugar each I think, result! OMG I can't get over that smell.
