How much electrical current does this module pull?

Our specification is less than 35 mA, but the typical pull is 25mA.for the VLM -650-28

Do I need a power source or does it take batteries?

You need a power source providing between 3 and 5 volts. A 5v smartphone charger, with the cable stripped apart and wired to the leads, will suffice. This is essentially how I did it. Just be sure to get your positive and negative leads wired correctly to avoid damaging the laser module. You may also have luck with a pair of 1.5v batteries connected in series, but I have not tested this myself (it should work, though).

How thin can the line be?

How visible, sharp, bright, & long would the line be at 2.25m away (on ceiling to shine on floor) in a dark room? (indoor safety line at night)

The standard Laser has a 60 degree lens. Therefore, at 2 inches away from the target the laser line will be 2 inches long and approximately 1 mm and width. The further you get from the target the longer the line will be in a one to one ratio with 60°. The line with will also diverge, so if I am 10 feet away, I will have a 10 foot long line however, even at his power level it will still be quite visible, depending on the ambient light in the room
