I've no interest in real knives or whatever but I am absolutely fascinated with the movements and aesthetics of balisongs, so I was surprised to see that practise ones were available. This makes for a fantastic fidget toy and is very weighty, feels sturdy too if occasionally squeaky. It's an attractive little hunk of metal and is very rewarding to just tinker around with.

You get what you pay for, it isn’t the best trainer i’m sure of that, but it’s very helpful for beginners to introduce into the world of butterfly knives. after around a week or two of often usage, there are scuff marks around the pin in the middle, as well as becoming a lot more noisy as it loosens, however that could be just because of how fast i do my tricks. Decent product, would recommend to a new person.

It's my first training knife, it's pretty great. Heavy, solid, doesn't feel cheap or anything. It's pretty much EXACTLY what I wanted when I came searching for a training knife. I had a little trouble opening it at first; you need to squeeze the two handles pretty hard together to release the latch. Never had one of these knives before so I had to look at the videos on here to check if squeezing it was the right way to do it. It was a matter of a day and a half when the "bite handle" started getting a bit stiff for me and not moving very loosely. But that's a totally normal thing for these knives; I bought some metal lubricant and in 2 hours after applying it it was working just like new. I think you need to oil it/ lubricate it frequently if you're gonna be using it a lot.

In short I am very happy with this item and it fits what I wanted from a practice knife, if you want a longer version, look below. I got this practice butterfly knife as a result of a combination of boredom from lockdown and a mild interest in the cool tricks people are capable of pulling off with these knives. Of course powered by a mild interest I didn’t want to go head over heels and spend a ton of money since I could very well drop the hobby within a day, so this knife fit the bill perfectly in terms of pricing. Furthermore, as a beginner and someone who is quite fond of having all 5 fingers still attached to my hands, I wanted a practice knife and once more this knife fits the bill there too. As such I’m a very happy customer and would recommend to anyone who wants to jump into practicing with a butterfly knife.

Though it did start feeling unstable after a few hours of advanced flipping tricks, it has decent quality and probably could last a month if you don't drop it or drop it on soft surfaces.

I wanted to learn some balisong tricks on impulse one day, most likely brought about through lockdown cabin fever. This one had reasonably good reviews, but a few said it was stiff quickly, so i wanted to give my own input. I have been using it for 2 weeks now, about 30 minutes to 1 hour a day, so not too intensly, and up to now it still swings as loosely as when I got it, though it does squeak. I have never owned a balisong before, but it is strong metal, heavy too, and at first i bashed my knuckles a lot which hurt a bit. After a day or two of practice, and watching guides this is no longer a problem. I think this item will last me completely whilst learning and beyond. I will only plan on buying another balisong when I am absolute pro and want something more flashy. Until then, this knife is perfect.

I've had this for about a week now. It was first a bit stiff, but some speedcube lube soon loosened it up. It now spins freely with no restrictions, though a little dirty at the pivots, but doesn't really matter. The latch is now a little easier to use and can be opened with a simple squeeze. It took about a day to break in, but now seems fine. I don't think a better one is really needed. This seems really good for the price, especially for beginners. The only fault I can think of is the time it too to break in, though I that may be the case for most balisongs, so I give it full stars. Update. It's just been a few days since my last review of this product. I'm most dissatisfied with it right now. The latch no longer works and the handles are beginning to wobble. It was starting to squeak and could feel friction increasing, but WD40 seemed to fix it. Though it seems to be deteriorating quite fast for the price I paid for it. I know that balisongs can go for a lot of money, but I just want something that works well, I'm not interested in aesthetics or fashion. This may be good for someone who doesn't know if they would like balisong. Well I've been playing with this for a week and have never been so obsessed with something like this before. I love balisongs, but this just isn't that durable. I'm worried it might fall apart soon so I've got more arriving. Benchmade seems like a good brand, though not sure if they do trainer "blades". Buy it if you're not sure if balisongs appeal to you. Otherwise look elsewhere.

I’ve always wanted to be able to flip a balisong knife like you see in the movies. This is a great way of doing it without possessing anything offensive or hurting yourself. The item is good quality and still looks new despite being roughly handled and dropped several times. I’m pleased to say that after watching some technique videos online, I can now do a basic opening and close flip like an expert. It’s a nice little distraction toy too.
