are they pills or capsules?

They are capsules and they work well. I prefer capsules with Betaine HCL, because they glide easily down the oesophagus into the stomach. The last thing you want is for a tablet containing hydrochloric acid to get stuck 'en route'. Don't think it is likely to happen, because all HCL that I have seen in pill form is coated, but still... capsules glide easier. Take one of those caps with a main meal - don't take it without food - ever. Good luck

How do I know these are legit and been tested to British safety standards please?

I don't know. I take them and I am still alive and living in Britain, if it makes any difference to my stomach... And my digestion is better. Went from 5 pills to 2 so far.

Some reviews mentions that capsule is made out of pork/beef gelatine. The title claims it to be veg. What's the deal here?
