Does anyone know measurements of the space between the bars? Thank You.

Gap Between each bar is 5.5 cm , Gap from outer left bar to right bar is 67cm and maximum it can be extended with the threaded bolts for holding in place 80 cm Height is 68cm and including the actual brackets on the wall 77cm

How wide are the actual screw in fittings, my door frame is only 2cm wide

The acre fittings are just over 3cm in width but they do offer the option to secure top and bottom in the centre with screws, one of my fixings the one that it swivels on slightly overlaps the frame of the twisting old cottage stairs but it is fully anchored in at top and bottom and only we are aware of the slight unsighliness when cleaning, but we do not have little hands that could get caught. It's not the sort of plastic that could be cut without wrecking the structure of the hinge fixture. You could do as friends have done and add a wood baton to widen the door frame to allow fixing to the wall on one side and stairs on the other? Otherwise you may be looking at a pressure fixed one, but they are not not trip. You could ring Baby Dan and seek their advice.
