Shaves Wood like a Knife through Butter
I needed a tool to shave off a few millimetres of wood from the top of my back door, which had been jamming against the upper frame for a few years. Before purchasing this rasp, I tried using a metal file, drill attachments (including flap wheel sandpaper), various grinding heads, and even a brand-new surform from a well-known brand, all with minimal success. It felt like attempting to trim the edge of a steel girder with a nail file. Then I found this… It arrived the day after I ordered it, packaged simply. Upon opening it, I noticed the unique cross-pattern structure, resembling several hacksaw blades crossing each other diagonally. One side has smaller teeth than the other, providing the option to use either a rough or a smoother side based on the job at hand. I tested it on the top of my wooden door and quickly realised this tool was a game changer. The wood removal speed using the rough side first was instantly impressive. Sawdust was coming off what felt like ten times faster than with the previous tools. It felt like a knife slicing through butter—completely different from the earlier attempts. I had almost removed enough material from the top of the door, so I switched to the smoother side to finish off. For the first time in years, the door cleared the frame easily. It was pleasing to finally have a tool that performed with the efficiency I had hoped for. All good so far. Pros: • Well-made, solid and strong build quality; expect it to last for many years. • Features a rough side and a smoother side for different needs. • Good size; larger than your average metal file. • Easy grip with a comfortable handle. Cons: • Significantly more expensive than basic rasps and files. • Does not come with a storage or carrying case. • Only has a handle at one end. Overall, I highly recommend this rasp to anyone needing to shave, trim, or smooth wood. You really get what you pay for, and I think the price is value for money in this case, not just for completing one task, but as a sound investment for future use, so I have no hesitation in giving it five stars. I hope this review was helpful

Amazing tool!
This is a must for any woodworker. Double sided, rough and fine. Makes short work of holly compared to the traditional rasp and finishes much better.

Not the cheapest but the quality makes up for that
Not the cheapest but the quality makes up for that, its very sharp and makes light work of removing wood. Used on a number of products and feels solid in hand, which gives confidence when using.

Excellent tool.
An excellent tool. The only reason that I did not give it the full five stars is because I feel its more than a little overpriced. You WILL need to wear gloves while using it, as being double sided, the teeth will cut into your hand as you press it down onto the work piece, painfully so. Hence only 1 star for "comfort". However, it absolutely is a very capable tool, and strips away wood 10x faster than a normal file or rasp.

Great item
Great item to plane doors. Very solid and great value. My son is very happy to add to his tool collection after sorting some doors and a wooden gate for me. I recommend

Perfect rasp for carving, smoothing and cutting out material
An amazing and I’d say essential tool for anyone into woodworking. The rasp is double sided, so you can use the coarse side to remove material and then flip it over to use the finer teeth to smooth it out. The result is an almost finished surface, smooth enough not to sand if done well. It’s relatively easy to use, but I had to get online to see how it was done properly. Unless you’re familiar with a Japanese rasp, it may not be obvious. Very cheap for what it is and it will last a long time. Perfect size to put in your tool box. Works well on timber battens, for carving and many other things. I just wish the handle was wooden and there was a way to attach another handle on the other end, as it’s a two handed tool, if used properly.

Very effective
Excellent at removing stock. Fast and efficient. The next version should have a grip at the far end. Still 5 stars.
