The at pro came out in 2010. is this still a good detector for 2018 in terms of price, new technology and performance?

Absolutely 100%. Only two other models of the AT variety have been released to the best of my knowledge and the AT pro is still is up there in quality and performance. I have saved money and sold other detectors to upgrade to the AT Pro and I have not been let down. 100% worth it

Are headphones included?

Yes they are. The headphone jack for the AT pro is different than the lower models. Garrett offers a conversion jack that reduces the AT pro jack size to a standard your phone size. But yes volume controlled headphones are included. Although I do not believe they are waterproof

does the product come with warranty

Garrett offers a factory two-year warranty on your product if you call and register it at the time of purchase. Don’t let a lot of time lapse between when you purchase it and when you register it. I don’t suspect you’ll have any problems in the first two years are the first 10 years.

does this one pick up gold?

Yes, it can pick up gold, jewelry and coins.
