Pro Diver Stainless Steel Men's Automatic Watch - 40mm

Iv'e wanted a good automatic watch (no battery needed) for a long time now and always admired the looks of the Rolex Submariner, but not having thousands of pounds to spare and after watching a few review videos I decided that the Invicta Pro Diver was worth a try. Let's make this clear, you will find mixed reviews, and many criticise this particular model, as its not the swiss movement version, but what I have found is 100% opposite to the negative reviews. This version has an incredibly well tested and reliable Seiko automatic movement, which can be delightfully watched through the glass back of the watch, the way I looked at it is that as with cars the Japanese studied the market (in the case swiss movements) and then made a reliable version of their own. This is a 24 jewel movement and the second hand swings around in an almost smooth movement with only the tiniest 'tick' visible. The watch feels like a quality item, and since setting over a week ago it has lost only 10 seconds, which for an automatic watch is fantastic. If you want absolute accuracy then go for the swiss quartz version, but my opinion is that it's just not the same as having a non-battery version which winds itself back up with every movement of your arm and hand during normal daily use. I read in a review somewhere that the latest versions of this watch with the seiko movement cannot be hand wound, but I have found this to be incorrect and I was able to wind mine prior to wearing for the first time and its worked wonderfully ever since without intervention. Being a divers watch of course I wanted to check the water tightness, particularly as its advertised as water tight up to 200 metres. I have left the watch in a glass of cold water for over an hour and also worn it whilst having a shower, at no point did it show any signs of moisture under the lense, something which I have experienced on other so called 'waterproof' watches. For the money, and forgoing the 'I must have swiss' snobbery, this is a fantastic watch. Anyone who has owned or considered owning a fake brand name watch should look at this, you get all the looks and style of the brand name, but instead you are buying a genuinely well made quality watch, not some cheap and leaky import, don't buy on name, buy on quality. Anyone receiving this as a gift would surely love it, and for less than £70 you would be hard pushed to find anything remotely close in quality, my own research found that the Invicta brand was originally formed in the 1800's as a swiss watch maker and despite this more modern re-incarnation of the brand you will still experience the heritage of well made quality timepieces. Will certainly be buying again, just have to decide what styles to choose from as there are so many!

Brilliant watch at a great price! Nice weight to it, rotating bezel that feels sturdy. Strap is very good and quality material with a comfortable fit and feel. Very good looking watch on the wrist.

This watch was purchased to replace another automatic watch (different brand) that I dropped and went haywire. I like the idea of the self-propelled mechanical watch, and after some deliberation I decided to give automatics another chance. I have had my Invicta for four months now, so I think I can express a well founded opinion of it. It is a nice watch, looks good and stylish, and keeps time pretty well (mine has a tendency to be two-three minutes fast in about two weeks, but that is fine with me, and this would vary with the user, I guess). I consider it a good value for the price. The luminous hands/dial is quite bright and can be read easily. It is a heavy watch (about 200 g - NOT 455 g, as it is stated in the product overview), but it is comfortable for wearing around the clock (I had in on for two weeks straight when we went camping). It is shock resistant enough for my taste: I dropped it a couple of times so far on hardwood floor from about a meter height, and it is working fine. I did not realise that it had a little magnifying lens above the date display when I ordered it (although now I can see it on the pictures). This lens does not look very appealing to me, I do not find it very useful, either, but I have gotten used to it. I had resized watch bands before, so I wanted to take a link out of the wristband when the watch arrived, but I could not remove the pin holding the link. I was afraid of damaging the wristband, so I ended up paying a few Euros for the resizing. Invicta includes a little instruction book with the watch, but you have to know the features of the watch to be able to pick the relevant section - on the other hand, if you know the features, you hardly need the instructions! I thought it was quite cheap of them to print just one booklet for all their watches. The important thing to know about this model that is has a screw-down crown. It is not mentioned in the description, and since I had never had a watch with this feature before, I had a little difficulty with it first. As I mentioned before, the instruction booklet that comes with the watch is useless, you have to know that the watch has a screw-down crown to look up how to use it. Another important thing is that they guarantee the water resistance ONLY if the crown is screwed in the watch body (this is in the instruction booklet). The crown of mine got loose somehow without me noticing it, and some water actually got into the watch when I was taking a bath - I was quite upset about it. I am still in the process of trying to dry it out. The pin of the fold over clasp came apart one day when I was taking the watch off. I do not remember any rough usage that would explain it. Apparently it is not of a common size, because the watchmaker did not have it on hand, so it took a couple of days to have the wristband repaired. All in all, it is a nice watch for everyday use, but I wonder how long it will last.

I have been collecting higher end watches for over 30 years, so after an expensive repair I wanted a cheap everyday watch I could wear doing any job, without the worry on damaging it. On doing some research the Casio Duro Marlin Diver 44mm came in very highly rated and the Invicta Pro Diver 40mm also, although with a smaller wrist I chose the smaller Invicta Pro Diver Automatic 40mm, after being persuaded by an in-depth online review by an horologist who highly rated it. I purchased the black/silver version and my first impressions on opening the box were very positive, it is a nice looking and sturdy watch with a good weight, and once I had the strap adjusted it sat perfectly on my wrist for size and felt very comfortable. As many other reviewers have also noted the watch does at a glance look like a Submariner. The crown works okay although it doesn’t feel as sturdy as my higher end watches, and the hack is good for setting the time accurately. The Seiko automatic movement is pretty accurate and also very quiet. The bracelet is okay, it does the job well and is comfortable but it does rattle slightly. Regarding the ‘Invicta’ engraving, while some really dislike it I do not find it intrusive at all, but agree it would be better not being there. Probably my only gripe is that the lume is very poor and almost non-existent, and this really could be improved even if it means adding another £10 on the price. I have also since originally writing this changed the strap for an Archers Black 20mm NATO strap, which I think makes the watch look better. Overall I am happy with this watch, it is a good price for an automatic movement, although I haven’t tested it in water yet. Regarding the price, Amazon is competitive but they do move the price up and down, so keep your eye out for Prime days as they often knock 15% off, or more on Black Friday.

Very good for the price. Build quality is surprisingly good & it is heavy enough for that 'quality feel'. The exhibition case is a nice touch, although my watch just had a plain unsigned rotor (Auto wind weight), which looks a bit cheap, not sure why they've stopped using the signed yellow rotors, although there is probably too much Invicta branding elsewhere! Mine ran slightly fast out of the box.

Amazon rejected my last review as too honest apparently. Something about community guidelines. Great watch. Pro diver Looks good. Keeps good time +5 seconds a day Waterproof, been in the sea 4 times & shower. If you can get it on a deal below £80 its worth every penny especially for an every day wear. December 25 I've been wearing this watch most days to work & the accuracy now is +0.50 seconds a day. If it runs faster i leave it overnight crown down on it's side if it's a few seconds slow I lay it flat at night. Worth experimenting with automatic watches like this & you barely have to reset them. Various things online advising how to do this.

People who have researched into this brand are wise to have some trepidation before purchasing a watch from them; so many are pumped out of their factories, and with apparently little to no quality assurance whatsoever. Consequently, many people have had bad experiences; buying watches whose hands have fallen off inside the case before even being worn for the first time; crowns coming away from the stem; crystals fogging up easily, etc. However, despite the gamble you make upon buying an Invicta, when you DO get a properly functioning one (and let's face it, you still have a good chance of doing so (a small percentage of unlucky buyers can seem stretched out of proportion when SO MANY people buy the same product - especially in the USA in this case)), it's hard to fault Invicta for managing to make such feature-packed, well-designed watches for such good prices. Obviously the company cuts corners, be it in country of manufacture, quality assurance, customer service (another infamous no-no to avoid... take your watch to a local watchmaker if it means anything to you; it could be cheaper, and you'll certainly have your watch back with you in less than a century) but it doesn't matter when you end up with a Rolex Submariner look-alike, without any actual fakery, currently featuring the Seiko-designed and built NH35A movement, for £70-£100. This movement is nicely-decorated for an inexpensive one, is reliable, accurate enough for the price point, and hacks and hand-winds; two features that you REALLY don't expect from an automatic watch costing this little. I mean really, £68 I paid for this. IF the watch holds up over time, that is just one incredible deal. The watch looks beautiful, and the movement really is a bonus, and a sure step up from the non-hacking, non hand-winding NH25A and plain-looking (but reliable nonetheless) Miyota 8215 before it. I'll bolster my argument by indicating that the famous Seiko Monster uses the same movement that the NH25A is cloned from (under Seiko Industries Incorporated, mind, so don't worry about getting a 'cheap chinese clone'; that's not the case at all) and yet the monster usually costs around £50 more than the 8926. There's little else I can think of that hasn't been said before about this watch; if you're looking to buy it, you've probably already watched the youtube videos raving about it, and how good value it is (even with the PAST movements; not to mention the new one), and all I can do is corroborate with their opinions that the Invicta 8926 represents incredible value-for-money (assuming yours works fine (and it SHOULD, in terms of percentage chance!)) and unless you want even LESS chance of having to return and refund a faulty watch, I urge you to go for it! Good neutral size, great new movement, classic design, fantastic price; what more could you want? (apart from a less dubious brand, which, for this money, you won't find!)

This is my second Invicta Pro Diver. My other is a 8928C in steel gold and blue. I was worried about marking the finish on that watch as I love it so much, and considered just buying another as the price is so reasonable, but decided instead to go for a classic black and steel finish with this 8926OB. My intention is to use this as more of an everyday watch. The OB designation means "Original Bezel" which has a milled or coin edge to the bezel. It does give the watch more of a classic "Submariner" homage look, but on the whole I think I prefer a scalloped bezel like on my 8928C. It seems that both bezels are options on the various colour combos of the Pro Diver range. There are very slight quality differences between my two Pro Divers. The magnifying window of this watch is set the tiniest amount too high... It is barely noticeable and in fact I only spotted it when the watch was on a flat surface next to my other Pro Diver. It is not enough to worry me much...in fact when you turn your wrist you tend to look down at the date so it aligns perfectly well, but the setting was spot on with the 8928C. The only other thing I noticed was a slightly sharp edge on the clasp of this watch, which I cured with a little emery cloth and polish which can be easily done due to the brushed steel finish of the clasp. They are small points but certainly you should not have to smooth off sharp metal edges. The high quality of the rest of this watch and the extremely low price make me quite forgiving of these small faults. My previous model was absolutely faultless so quality control is obviously a bit of an issue, but if you get a good one then it does offer tremendous value for money, and if not, Amazon's returns policy is excellent. I had to remove 3 links from the bracelet. A jeweller did this on my 8928C, but I Googled a Youtube video showing how to do it and it was fairly easy if you are confident and careful, so that saved £7! The strap is really very good with solid stainless steel links that have polished inner links (outer face only) and brushed outer ones. I believe early models may have used a folded or hollow link, and so suffered from a rattling strap, but I checked the standard strap against a quality German aftermarket strap by Herzog in our local jewellers and found it compared well enough not to think it needed upgrading. That said I did buy a 20mm rubber divers strap to put on it for a sailing holiday later in the year, and am taken with the idea of a canvas NATO strap as a few other reviewers have mentioned. Everything else is as per my review of the 8928C as the Seiko made NH35A movement is exactly the same and apart from the two points I have made about the finish, everything else is made and constructed to a far higher standard than you have a right to expect for this price. These really are tough well made reliable watches that are very watertight (Just remember to screw the crown down tightly). I dropped to a four star review for this watch due to the two quality issues noted that were not present on my 8928C, but it is difficult to do anything other than highly recommend this 8926OB for the price.
