Seagate Expansion 4 TB 2.5-Inch USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive for PC and Xbox One, 4TB

I have been using an old 1TB drive for a few years now and felt it was time to upgrade. I could not believe how cheap this 2TB drive was and thought it must be cheaply made, I was very much mistaken. The drive is fantastic it comes with its own software on it but i never had to install anything, I simple plugged it in with the usb cable that came with it and boom it was straight there on my This PC page. I transferred over alot of material from the old TB and the speed it did it was great even tho my pc doesnt have usb 3 capability. I can only imagine how fast it would be at usb 3 speeds. Also the drive looks amazing, sleek and shiny black with a nice cube pattern on the top. The size is at least four times smaller than my old TB and this holds twice as much data. The usb cable isnt mega long which was no problem for me as i have the drive sitting on top of my tower so i have ample extra lead. The size makes it great for transporting and since it doesnt need to be charged as it gets its power from the PC you dont have to carry a plug charger around with you if you want to bring movies or data to another location. I have had no faults or any complaints with this product and maybe even buy a 4GB drive if I ever fill this one up. The drive also worked instantly didnt need time to charge up i just plugged it in and the blue light came on and i was good to go. All in all a great buy and at such a great price, well worth it

I bought two of these drives to collate all the data I had spanning multiple HDD units. One drive contains the data; the other contains a mirror of that data. So far, I am very pleased with both reliability and performance of these drives. The case is all plastic, with a port for the USB 3.0 cable and a light to show the drive is in use. Simple, but it does the job. It is also nice that it only occupies a single USB port. It would probably benefit from some stick-on rubber feet as it does have a tendency to slide around on hard surfaces, being very lightweight. My Dell 5567 does recognise the device as USB 3.0 and there is a notable speed increase over USB 2.0. That said, I've mostly used it in USB 2.0 mode (on my old PC) and speed hasn't been an issue for me, even when imaging / restoring my OS partitions. Not sure how good the drive will be in the long run, but so far I'm very pleased. For the money, I think they represent good value.

I bought this drive to try and help salvage my ailing iMac (which in itself is a rare thing). The internal drive has started to fail, and I needed to get stuff off quickly. I used this drive to actually run the Mac OS on, based on a 1.1TB time machine imagine that I had taken a few days before. I have to say, I am pretty impressed The drive itself comes well packaged in a neat box, with only the required amount of materials (no wastage here). Inside the packaging is the drive itself, which has a nice look and feel to it, and a proprietary USB cable that provides both power and data transfer in 1. Keep this safe, its an unusual cable so not sure how easy it would be to replace. I connected the drive, and set about formatting it to the right volume type to be a bootable MAC HD. Formatting was done quickly and I was away - able to install the OS onto the drive from a time machine backup, and have been running off it since. The drive itself is not silent, but neither is it noisy - you know its working by the blinking blue light on the top of the drive - but that's about it. I plan to velcro it to the back of my Mac so that its up and out of the way Size wise its about 25% bigger than a deck of cards, but also about 25% slimmer. The drive gets warm through use, but not hot and nothing to worry about. Read and Write speeds seem pretty good, and i am able to make use of nearly all of the 2TB of storage. I plan to use the drive for extra storage on my Xbox One once I have finished using it to run the Mac OS. Really pleased, and would recommend a good drive at a great price.

Brought it for my PS4 then transferred it to my PS5. I’ve had no issue with this product and is still working fine and still got space on it.

I have owned this for 8 months now, I have not had a single issue with it. My original Western Digital drive had a habit of corrupting when plugging it into a different PC. To the point where the data was not recoverable anymore. This however, there is no indication that the drive will fail soon, the read/write speeds are exactly as specified, and even under heavy load, I cannot hear it. Look ===== The drive looks amazing, there is no other way of putting it. I am not big on portable HDD's looking brilliant, to me they are just something that's functional. However this does look the part. I would have to say however, it is not as thin as the product image depicts, but it is in no way bulky. There are also no rubber feet on the underside, this was a concern of mine but after using it (on top of my desktop tower) there are no vibrations to be heard. Performance ===== Using USB 3.0, the drives performance is very good. It is obviously not as good as SATA drives, Thunderbolt, or USB Type C, but there is a lot more compatibility when using USB 3.0. In my test, I got 94MB/s write speed, when transferring a 5GB file. Convenience ===== The biggest selling point of this drive (to me) was that is was powered via USB. This means you do not have to bring a bulky plug with you, for whenever you would like to use the drive. You simply have to plug the USB cable into your PC/Laptop, and away you go. Also with most PC's, no specialist software is needed, you just plug it in, wait while the OS installs the required drivers, and then the HDD should appear in your drive list. Alternative Usage ===== As many before me have said, it is very easy to get this drive to work on PS4/Xbox One/Macs. Conclusion ===== If you're looking for a reliable, small and convenient portable HDD, then look no further. Very highly recommended!

Great Drive, currently using it for PS4 I have used this as an internal drive for my PS4, you need to remove the drive from the plastic case, if you do this carefully without damaging the outer plastic case you can then use the enclosure for the drive you swap out of your playstation. - This is the hardest bit of upgrading your PS4 HD, so take your time. Slowly go round the edge, i used a credit card size piece of plastic, and just took my time, you may feel a clicking noise this is the plastic clips that hold the casing together you may snap some of these. Once the enclosure has been removed, you will see that the circuit board that holds the USB connection is just pushed on to the sata drive, just remove this carefully by removing the silver tape and then pull the circuit board away from the drive carefully not to break it!. Next remove the 4 screws Things to make sure you do before attempting the HD replacement in the PS4. 1. Back up your PS4 to a different External Drive by going to system then find the backup option, this will take around 2 and a half hours for a 500Gb drive, also make sure you have space on the external drive. 2. Download the PS4 software from the Official Playstation website, make sure you download the full software and not just the update, save this to a spare USB thumb drive, the software needs to be placed inside a directory called PS4 then inside this directory another folder called UPDATE. - Check on the website it tells you what to name the folders. 3. Sync your PS4 Trophies 4. Back up game saves either to USB or if a Plus member upload to Cloud storage. (Important) Drive replacement and PS4 software install - Check youtube for the rest :), its better watching someone do this part. Once all done plug the PS4 back in insert the USB drive with the PS4 software, turn on PS4 but hold down power wait until the PS4 beeps a second time, now choose option 7 to reinstall PS4 system software. Once installed takes seconds, you will be presented with a new PS4 similar to when you first purchased it, now time to restore, insert Harddrive into USB socket, go to system and select restore, takes around 2 and a half hours again. Once finished your PS4 will be back to its usual self but with more storage, you may have to sign back in to PSN. My drive was the 2016 Segate model an it works Hope this helps someone out
