A great starter mix - a little high and dry, has a very clear recording quality
A good starter mic - comes with the necessary kit to get started in vocal recording. The pop filter is very useful, and it attaches easily to a mic stand. Warning: you will need to get an audio interface to use this mic, as it is a phantom power mic. The audio quality comes out decently - it’s a little on the high and dry side, so make sure you cut the highs on the EQ when mixing. A very beautiful colour; and captures breathy tones particularly well. If you store it in the dust bag, it will keep forever. Arrived very quickly, and was in very good condition.

Great quality mic
Really quick delivery and this is great value for money. When recording at home I always had to turn my headphones down as my other mic picked up the music or clicks playing through the phones and you couldn't really position it to avoid this, even with noise reduction phones. With this mic, with it's simple easy-to-use guide, I was able to set this up instantly and get some great recordings of my acoustic guitar. As stated in other reviews this is a real high quality mic that picks up everything but by using the correct positioning, I was able to record without having to get too close to the mic and it didn't pick up any noise from my headphones, at last I can hear what I'm playing to! The quality of the sound is really good, a lot more presence and brightness than expected and I'm thrilled with the results and only just getting started. It picks up vocal with relative ease and whilst vocals are not my area, I know people who record with this mic and it does a sterling job. The shock mount is pretty sturdy too and easy to fit to a mic stand. A good all rounder for me.

Not sure much more needs to be said...
... But I'll say something anyway. This microphone is brilliant. As a Music Production student and "budding" artist/producer I've been familiar with the NT1-A and various other industry standard mics for many years, and this one has always been a favourite of mine for both vocal and acoustic guitar recordings. I decided to purchase the NT1-A for my home studio (Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 interface/preamp, KRK RP6 G3 monitors) and tested it before putting foam panels on my wall and it produced a very clear, high quality recording albeit with the annoying natural reverb from the room. Since placing the foam panels on the walls in an 'alcove' that I use as a vocal booth, in the spare bedroom aka The Studio, I have managed to record near perfect vocals, almost comparable with those at many more 'professional' studios. PROS + Clarity of recordings is second to none + Robust, all fittings are sturdy + Great value for money. Especially with the accompanying contents of the pack. Borderline steal. CONS - Too clear!! Can pick up even the slightest sounds so ensure you have sufficient soundproofing (closed doors and windows with heavy drapes will help!) - Requires some acoustic treatment of room due to the large cardioid polar pattern All in all, it's a great microphone for any singer/songwriters who are willing to do a little work on their room, and/or experiment with mic placement to get the best possible recording, which I strongly suggest if you want to get the most out of this mic. A little research online will go a long way!

Outstanding, well-built condenser microphone
I’ve been using Rode microphones for a good few years now, and so I recently decided to invest in a new condenser microphone. The NT1-A is a solid, well-built condenser microphone by one of the best audio companies in the world. I’ve been using it rigorously since I got it and it’s excelled time and time again. It provides crisp, clear vocals and instrument recordings. The pack also comes with a shock mount with a built in pop filter, which ensures your recordings don’t pick up any undesirable external interference. The long professional audio cable that’s also included is excellent, too, and the dust cover keeps your mic in good condition between sessions. As is the case with all condenser microphones, it requires phantom power; you can get this from most audio interfaces or other devices. This isn’t the sort of mic you would require to be portable and is most at home in a studio or office setting, so its phantom power requirement won’t hinder you. That being said, the microphone is still light enough to not weigh a ton if you need to move it, and the shock mount is pretty light too. When I’m at my desk I leave the mic in its shock mount whilst attached to my DS1 desktop stand, but the mic can easily be transferred to a different mic stand depending on the situation. The 10 year warranty included with the mic shows how much effort Rode put into their craft; this microphone is a breeze to work with and lets me get solid results every time with whatever project I’m working on. The NT1-A is a great value, beautifully made condenser microphone that won’t let you down and is well worth your investment.

VERY GOOD PERFORMER
The first thing about this item was that it had been sent very well packaged so no worries there. I have a small studio set-up and had this items bigger brother (Rode NT2-A) which I can say enough good about as it's an excellent microphone, It was damaged during a recording session and I have been missing it for ages. Having spent money on cheaper condensers in an effort to get that Rode sound and being unsuccessful I decided I'd take a chance on the cheaper NT1-A (as it was in my budget). It doesn't have the HP filters or Pads for dB cut and gain which I miss but it does perform very well in comparison, in fact I couldn't tell any big difference when I listened to older recordings using the NT2-A ! For the uninitiated it does require (as does ALL condenser mics, not including the battery type) a 48v supply to make it work, without that it's a metal stick that does nothing. It comes with a 'cradle' that gives suitable isolation from the 'tapping foot syndrome' that vocalists seem to have while doing their stuff and a pop sheild (as seen) to help with Ps and Ts ... all good. Overall this is one of my favourite purchases, the build quality is great, its easy to set up (in the cradle) and outperforms a lot of the more expensive condensers. It's use, I feel, is only worthwhile in a studio environment or maybe ambient stage work (You'd need more than one though). If it's live stage work you were thinking of I would suggest the SHURE SM58 which is a dynamic mic and does not require a 48v rail and is a great 'all round performer'. But that's just my opinion ...

Good crisp audio, great value, a few gotchas for new players
As an video professional I've been looking to set up a small sound recording facility at home for voicing scripts prior to them being professionally recorded. Over the years when working in other peoples studios I've used mics from the mid-range AKG's to the gold standard U87. A friend who works at a television network who had done some blind testing ahead of fitting out some new studios said I should give one of these a try as in his testing they scored highly. I'm glad I did. Clear crisp audio. Pleasing to the ear and a very good frequency response. Perhaps a bit too crisp but very good quality. Provided shock mount and pop shield as well as cable. You will need more isolation than the supplied mount alone though. And just because a device has Phantom power doesn't mean it will have enough amps to power this beast. You will get best results through a professional desk or a dedicated pro-preamp. A cheap low quality pre-amp will add loads of hiss that this mic doesn't have on its own. Coupled with a good pre-amp the noise level is very low indeed. Exceptionally low. Excellent value for money. But to get the best results you will need to spend about the same again on a quality pre-amp + you will certainly need to get your acoustic treatment right in your room. A mic is just one part of any setup! And if you are mounting on an angle poise like I have, just add a little square of carpet between the metal of the angle poise and the desk. Stops the mic picking up vibrations.

Fantastic Condenser Microphone
This is probably the best microphone for the money right now. It's a condenser microphone. What does this mean? Well two things: 1. You're going to need an amp that gives +48v phantom power. 2. It's incredibly sensitive. It being incredibly sensitive goes both ways. On one hand, yes, it will pick up all the background noise on the planet. But also that yes, it's incredibly detailed and picks up vocals, guitars and just about anything else incredibly well. This is my primary microphone of choice right now for recording just about anything and that's simply because it works so damn well. It really does give a very accurate and honest sound and it really can bring out the best in even my voice. With that said, it does pick up everything and I do really mean everything so if background noise is a concern to you then I would highly recommend that you look at a dynamic microphone such as the Shure SM58 or the AKG D5 - of the two I'd say the AKG D5 is probably the 'cleaner' mic but the SM58 really is a great all-rounder.

Over The Moon!
I am absolutely over the moon. £149.99 is a lot of money to be buying luxuries for myself but I saw all the other reviews and before I knew it, I pressed "Buy". This is a pretty amazing piece of equipment and it also comes well packaged so you don't need to worry about it being damaged whilst being shipped. The setup is pretty easy but before you can use it properly you need two additional products: The first being an audio box that has 48V Phantom Power or else the microphone won't work at all, and the second thing being some sort of mic stand for your shock mount. I purchased the Avid M-Audio USB box which was probably the cheapest out there and doesn't lose the quality of the mic. I also purchased the samson MD5 desktop stand which is AMAZING. A lot of cheap stands can't hold the weight of the microphone but this one is completely solid, so I would get that too!. WARNING: For beginners (like myself), you can't just plug it in and expect your vocals to be as great as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc. IT WILL sound amazing in the end but you need to have some sort of knowledge with audio mixing and mastering to make your vocals stand out. I have been watching loads of youtube tutorials so get on there and learn some cool stuff! Overall, this is the best thing I have ever bought for myself, since I am such a music lover. You will not be disappointed. So if this is your type of price range for getting a mic, then this is definately for you!!!

Quality addition to my home studio
My first condenser mica nd I love the sound! Wonder why I did not buy this earlier. I use to use a regular behringer mic for home studio recordings. Not bad at all and did the job well but the ride mic just blew my mind away. Hardly need any EQ settings now. Was worried if the delivery guys would damage such delicate stuff during transport but it was delivered before time and in good damage proof packaging. The anti dust cover is a good accessory as is the pop filter. Quality buy. Just hope they also included a hard case for the mic while travelling as well!

Excelente micrófono
Venía de usar un MXL 2008 (con el cual estuve trabajando por casi 3 años), y buscaba poder escalar a un mejor equipo. Estoy totalmente satisfecho, la calidad del micro y de los accesorios es increíble.
