is this clear? can I varnish over it?

The product is not clear. There's no way I would varnish over it. Looks to good as it is. I've had teak outside furniture for 25 years. This is the best I've found.

Can/should you apply polyurethane after applying the teak sealer to a teak bench?

Star brite does not suggest or recommend using any type of varnish or polyurethane over Teak Sealer

Is this effective for a teak shower floor? Does it stand up to soap exposure found in a shower?

Yes, it will stand up to high traffic and water much longer than teak oil. Best of all, it is easy to refresh as needed without having to refinish completely. PRO TIP: If using on a teak shower floor, apply outdoors because this product needs UV exposure to cure properly for best results. Once cured, you can put it back in the shower.

Can you use Varnish or polyurethane over this product

No, you would not want to apply a varnish or polyurethane over this. This is meant to be the final coating over bare wood.
