Q: Do you have to take a minimim number of steps before it starts counting?

Yes, considering error correntation, it will calculate the number of steps after 10 steps you walk. But after the 11th step it adds the previous 10 Step

Q: Does it count steps accurately when worn on the lanyard?

Yes, it counts fairly accurately on a lanyard. Step counting is not an exact science, but pretty close. I just tested out the count going on a walk since I have 2 of these pedometers —wearing one the lanyard, one on my waistband and my iPhone in pocket counting steps. The results: 3395 steps on iPhone in pocket, 3387 on pedometer being worn w lanyard, 3606 on pedometer worn at the waist. For such a walk, I would consider this “accurate” enough. The waistband count sometimes picks up some extra steps if worn loosely or on my pocket. Hope this helps!

Q: Does it count accurately for short distance (2-3 steps) or turn around steps? Working in small work area few steps back and forth.

It seems to be pretty accurate, even in a few steps- short distance- as you describe.

Q: how do you attach clip?

I was unable to attach it. Did not seem to fit. You could email the seller and ask them. I just keep it in my pocket.
