It's a great kids toy... uses aaa batteries like the regular trackmasters.

We have the train track with Cranky that talks to Thomas (red button). Now Percy talks to Thomas and Cranky. Five year old loves it!

Christmas present for a two year old. Has not stopped playing with it. He loves trains and he should. A commuter rail goes by his house everyday and we go have snack at the station to get up close.

After only one day, I had to change the batteries. I'm not sure if the batteries they provided were just bad, or if it was a used item. Regardless, after the batteries were replaced, it works. Just a few tips in case this happens to you and to save you time: The batteries likely need to be replaced once the voice starts cutting out mid-sentence, and the wheels never spin. Secondly, you only need to undo the Phillips screw to replace the batteries. It's unnecessary to take out every screw. Beyond that, it has all the bells and whistles of any other train in this product line.

My son loves Thomas the train and we wanted to get him another train. This one is super cool and goes great with the set. Way cheaper to buy on Amazon
