excellent!
My daughter has super fine hair and quite a bit of it. I was concerned that this was maybe to long but it came out perfectly. She was able to do her hair herself in under 3 minutes amd it came out awesome! There was some difficulty snapping it shut because it's squishy but it just takes some getting used it. It also works great for the pompadour bangs and victory rolls no ratting required. Easily takes bobby pins too

Just what I was looking for!!!
My fiance loves the whole rockabilly/40's and 50's scene so I thought I would try to learn some if the hairstyles and I found this to be a must have for some of the styles. This is the key to the Betty Paige bumper bangs that are so popular and it works great!!! I bought a couple of them trying to see which variety would work the best and this one is definitely the winner. It is quite easy to use as well. Thank goodness for this hair rat :-)

super fat..
The product itself is fine. It's made well but it is super fat! I was hoping this might be to my advantage since I have such thin fine hair...it's not...I can't seem to fix it to cover it. I think I just need to keep working at it. The product itself is fine, just beware it's really really fat!

It's a hair rat :)
Well, what can I say, it's a hair rat :) I was really unsure about the length, 6" would have been too short for the bumper-bangs I wanted to make with the hair rat, 10" would have been *much* too long. To be quite honest, after two tries I think 8" is a tad bit too long for my (really thin) shoulder-length hair. I think as I'll get more practiced I'll have less of the rat showing. It's a little darker than I expected from the picture, on my monitor the color more closely resembles the shaded part of the picture. Because of the length and the color you can see it a teensy bit in the bumper bangs, the only reason this product doesn't get 5 stars. I like how sturdy the snap feels, but I have to admit that I haven't tried using it as a hair donut yet. I have to say that it looks to be a fantastic size for a hair donut though :) (Was unsure about that because I had some trouble visualizing how big it would come to be when it was a circle)

Snaps on the ends, won't stay snapped. Useless.
If I could give this zero stars, I would. I tried to use it, and the snaps on the ends are so loose that it will not stay snapped. (Like there's too much tension on the rat.) I thought this was a mistake on their part, because there are obviously snaps there, and the directions mention snapping it together. What else would the snaps be used for? I wrote to the company, and this is their response: "To better help & serve this situation, these don't technically snap, but help form the bun shape while placed within the hair-do." How, exactly, does the bun shape form if you can't put the ends together?? I can't send it back because the shipping is just not worth the cost. That'll teach me to order something that's not on Prime. Right now, I'm just thinking of using it to scrub dishes. Totally worthless otherwise.

Bumper Bang Bonanza!
I use it for bumper bangs and it is the perfect size. It does have the silver snap at the ends however, I use my scarves or bandana right against the clips and pull the hair past the end of the hair rat and you can't see the snaps and I also spray pained them brown. I haven't used it for a bun but I did buy two and snap them together to make that perfect 50's roll all the way around the base of my head for a different look. I have used hair rats as rollers to sleep in and they are very comfortable and give the ends a nice "bump". It's a hair rat you can't really go wrong if you are using it for retro/ vintage styles. I have thick coarse hair and it works just fine and I have used them on a friend with thin fine hair and it worked just as well.

Retro Hair
This is THE product you want to have if you like retro hair styles like Victory Rolls or other types of pin-up hair styles. I have used various types of this product to make buns or create retro looks easily without a lot of teasing and frustrated tears. We all know how difficult it is to mimic the pin-up look. This handy little accessory and some light hair spray makes it easy to create those looks in ten or so minutes. Some of these have a snap on the end so you can make it circular for the now very popular braided sock buns that you see everywhere. I'm sure that after using this product a few times, you won't dread going "pin-up" again. In fact, you might even find yourself doing it for work or just casual days. Good luck!
