Merrell Men's Moab 2 Waterproof Hiking Boot

I own several Merrell hiking shoes and boots. I put some pretty hard miles on them. Right out of the box the fit is awesome. I can’t say that for every brand. There is no break in, I left on a 2 week excursion with new boots and they were fantastic. No break in at all. I wear these boots until there’s no tread left. I have tried other brands such as Keen and the break in is painful. The first pair I returned, the second I still have hoping to break them in this winter. That is never a problem with Merrells.

Love these Merrells. They are lightweight yet sturdy enough for daily use . They look good and feel good. I'm on my 5th pair and I wear them almost daily. They last about 2 years. Used for hiking and casual wear, they are very versatile.

While they're the typical quality you'd expect from Merrell, the extra quality isn't there. I've had many pairs of them through the years and my most notable is the quality and comfort of their products. Had I spent the usual $100-plus for these shoes, they'd have been returned. While everything lines up, side by side, they are visually a little different when you look at them. This may be the reason for their price though Vibrim is usually particular about what product carries their logo. They were extremely uncomfortable at first. Not what I've experienced with any textile product. Usually Merrells are super comfortable, right out of the box. Overall these shoes were bought for hiking and camping in the Carolina mountains so they're purpose built but I've never experienced a break in period with a textile shoe. That's normally more in the over-ankle height, leather boot category. After wearing a few times they have gotten more comfortable. They have a good, sturdy toe point and on wet grass and clay, they were well footed. I am curious about their longevity because their shoes typically outlive their looks for a few years. That said, I always rotate the old shoes in to my yard work shoes and throw them away well before they're dead. I still have a pair of hiking mocs at my in laws house for when we visit and I do outdoor work there, where they have major water drainage issues. They're no newer than 2008 and still nust as comfortable and water tight as they were when I got them. Besides looking like a homeless guy, I'd wear them anywhere that stability and keeping water out would be an issue. Most likely these will last just as long but, there's got to be a reason they were only $60.00 ($75-$110 elsewhere) and it may be that they're not very attractive and not the normal quality shoe that they turn out. Again, they're Merrells and they were only $60. I'm probably setting the bar in the $120 shoe range and had I paid that, they'd have been returned. Otherwise the reason for 4 stars was really the break in time and aesthetics. So far they feel like a great hiking shoe I the under 80 dollar range. I will loop around after some gorge time on wet rocks and steep hills to update. I'd really like to give them the 5 stars they so deserve but now it's a solid 4 star.

Over the years, I have purchased many pairs of these Merrell hiking shoes. They work well for hiking on tough rocky terrain, but can be dangerously slippery on smooth rock surfaces. They may be waterproof, but your feet will still feel cold and wet if they get wet since they are not insulated. I get a good 5 months of daily walking out of these shoes before the sole becomes worn enough that it is time to replace them. The laces that come with these shoes look fantastic, but are like a torture device. No matter what you do, after a few weeks they will not stay tied! They will automatically become untied even if you do not move at all. There is even a YouTube video which features this same shoe and is about a special type of knot which is supposed to stay tied. My solution for the shoelace problem is to immediately replace the laces with Danner Premium Laces, 54". The Danner laces stay tied, and they will last as long as at least two pairs of these Merrell hiking shoes (I transferred the laces from shoe to another and they still seemed like new).

It's been a while since I have purchased any hiking shoes or boots, but things have clearly continued to improve since my old clunky hikers or Army boots. I purchased these for a day of like hiking at Shades State park, and thy were outstanding. I have a WIDE foot (3E-4E) and my main issue is always width, and I am pleased to say that the wides were indeed wide enough for me. Not too wide that I had any sliding - just right. And my secondary issue is that I wear custom orthotics, and although it looked like they might not fit right, they actually dropped right in when the insoles were removed. This is an outstanding hiker for the moderate trail that I was on, as well as wearing around town the rest of the day - very comfortable. I didn't get a chance to test their waterproofness or performance on any rugged trails, although I am sure they will. Recommended.

I was looking for a waterproof pair of sneakers that were like a boot, but didn't go all the way up the sides of my legs. I've had some ankle issues in the past and I've always had to choose between sneakers or boots, now you can have the best of both worlds 😃👍 I went hiking with these boots, took them with me in my kayak, and went through some sand and gravel areas, and had traction the entire time and didn't slip. I even ran through a couple of puddles to see if the waterproofing works, and it does! Granted if you stick your foot in a bucket of water your feet will get wet, these are not magic they are waterproof. Meaning that if you get them wet on the outside in the rain, hopefully your feet will be dry inside. Too many people leave reviews saying that they're not waterproof, but you need to know the limitations of a shoe especially when the top of it is open where your feet go. These sneakers are absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for an all-terrain sneaker that gives you the traction of a nice pair of boots, but the versatility of a sneaker. Highly recommended and I love the fact that they're available in wide sizes 👍

When I first put them on I thought they were heavy because for many years I made do with lightweight walking tennis shoes. Then one day I slipped on a wet surface and injured myself. I sought a safer shoe. I came across these the way everybody does now, via the Internet. More to the point, in an hour or less I realized that these were gloriously comfortable shoes and fit perfectly snug. Since then I've walked hundreds of miles wearing them and they continue to impress me with their comfort. I've worn them to walk country trails, deserts, rain forests, mountain sides, and of course, sidewalks. They're the "real deal" for all-occasion footwear (maybe not dress up affairs but I digress). Their laces are extremely durable, not likely to ever snap. At the top of the rear there's a finger loop which enhances ease of putting them on. My feet never sweat in them, even in sweltering heat. They are exceptionally durable and after 18 months I decided to write my review to praise them for the recognition deserved. I highly recommend this brand.

This pair had a higher back ankle rim and were larger in size then all the previous pairs I have purchased. This caused blisters on the back of both my ankles. They are not the 9.5W I wear. I hike and walk a minimum of 200 miles a month on rocky and stone trails. I purchase a new pair every 2 to 3 months because I wear out the soles and need the support . The uppers are still in great shape in this usage time frame. I hope this pair was just human error from the workers in the factor and not a normal thing to expect from Merrell. I am now concerned and a little disappointed but will give them 4 stars instead of my previous 5 stars. This shoe is light weight and in my opinion is the best hiking shoe for ruff rocky trails like the AT and Pacific trail and hope this is a one time issue. I will update or write a new review after I try out my replacement. Amazon replacement was easy process online.. Update. Did a replacement option through prime and its been 7 days and no shoes. I would give Amazon a 1 star review if it wouldn't effect the shoe rating because these are good shoes. Update. Finally got all the returns in order and just hiked 6 miles and got more blisters on my heal. This never happened hiking for years with the Moabs. They change this shoe or got manufacturing issues going cheap over seas. I give up with this shoe. I have switched to Altra's and Hoka's and have not had blister issues at all.

Las encuentro resistentes, son un poco pesadas lógicamente, pero cómodas y bien adaptadas a mis pies. Creo que voy hacer muchos km. con ellas.

You ask too much

These walkong shoes are perfect for the casual walker, l ha e a dog and walk herctwice a day - so 15,000 steps a day is about average. The Merrells are great, very well-made, supportvin all the right places, comfortable and clearly hard wearing/waterproof/up to the task. Wore them on arrival and been very pleased ever since. Shop around, there are plenty of deals out there. Mine cost just over £50 in an offercl couldn't turn down - not bad from a £120 asking price. Very happy. Go get some.
