No they are not. It is like charging a tablet - you plug it in and it charges.

Yes, but once the battery dies for good, the ac wall outlet will not supersede the battery. It becomes a throwaway.

Providing your not using the Bluetooth feature you can use a 1/8 to 1/8 "Y" splitter from the source and run 1/8 to 1/8 extension wire to each speaker.
