Brass is best.
Works as intended. Instructions are vauge. Make sure to install black rubber disc, then oversized red rubber washer. Then only the check valve mechanism works very well. I use with inline with yard sprinklers to distribute a light mix of miracle grow to lightly fertilize while watering the yard, garden beds, etc. buy it.

Great way to inject garden fertilizer when watering your plants.
This is a quality made brass injector. I use it to inject water soluble fertilizer, like Miracle Grow, into water as I water and fertilize the gardens. There are many garden fertilizer feeders on the market, but when using this injector I can continue to use the spray hose nozzle that I use all the time and that I know will provide me with the coverage that I am looking to get during fertilizer application. I can adjust it easily to a fine mist or concentrated stream, depending upon the reach that I am wanting to achieve when fertilizing. Basically being able to use my garden hose nozzle makes it easy to water and fertilize my garden without needing to step in it. I much prefer to stand on the turf which surrounds the gardens when I do this chore. This product just works, is easy to use and there is nothing to wear out. I contemplated buying this type of injector for years... I am so glad that I did not put off purchasing it any longer.

good but finicky
I’ve had this item now for two years. It is extremely finicky. Too high or too low water pressure = no mixing; salt build up = no mixing. The problem I read other folks having could be due to water pressure being too high. My well produces 70 psi and absolutely does not work with the unit. Place a valve on the hose just before the Hozon. Do not attach a hose on the downstream side. Mix your solution and place the little tube in your bucket. Point the unit away and open the valve slowly. Adjust the valve until you get the darkest color representing your solution in the bucket. Remember the valve position, turn off, attach downstream hose, and open valve to remembered position. All my hoses are 5/8 or larger diameter and the downstream hose is 50 feet. I address the salt build up by soaking the entire unit in a 60/40 vinegar/water solution after each use; typically 12 gallons of mixture. Let it soak overnight, with the tube connector “face up” to displace air and occasionally poke a straightened paper clip into the little hole. Minus one star for being so finicky.

Works great, if...
After a year or two of using this we finally got all the issues resolved. This mixer does exactly as it should, provided: 1) The fertilizer is fully mixed. We use Miracle-Gro, one bag per 3 gallon. Works great, but occasionally the granules clog the inlet orifice. We found it really helps to mix the fertilizer an hour before you plan to use it, and stir again just before use. 2) Miracle-Gro Rose fertilizer will not dissolve completely enough to not clog the mixer. We mix in watering cans for roses - have not tried different inlet filters. Miracle Gro for Blooms dissolves completely. 3) This mixer only works reliably on an open hose - use no nozzle at all. Also, don't use hardware store quick-disconnects, they reduce the flow too much. Spend the money and buy full-flow disconnects if you need them. Use the largest inside diameter hose you. 4) Never crimp the hose to go to another place in the garden - this will back clear water up the mixer pickup hose into the pre-mix, diluting it. Stick the hose in a watering can to move to another part of the garden, use that mix later to finish fertilizing. 5) Keep an eye on the pickup tube - if it goes clear of has a lot of bubbles, the pickup end has come out of the premix. 6) If the pickup tube clogs remove it and crimp the hose momentarily. This will flush the pickup inlet backwards, clearing the clog.

Simply bad
Whoever make this item should test them different ways so we can make a wiser decision as whether to buy. I have been looking for a downstream injector for my pressure washer to no avail. Then I found this one and decided to give it a try so I can keep my washer for heavy jobs. I tried I don't know how many times to make it work. At first you can see the soap come out and then you don't. The liquid was not going down at all. I had to continue moving the hose inside the bucket and it will work for a few and then it stop. I bought a new nozzle and hose, tried with them and still the same. I tried different hoses with different nozzles, even without a nozzle to no avail. The idea behind the product is great, but they should test it themselves first so they can tell us the best way to use it

Recommend it & have been a repeat buyer.
Use this to connect liquid fish emulsion into automated drip irrigation systems. Worth every penny to never have to touch the stuff. Highly recommend it. Have bought it before and recommended it to my friends. Only “risk” is that the spring at the end may fall out of the tube. I kid you not… I just buy another. Not worth digging it out of a 5 gallon bucket of liquid fish fertilizer. Trick is to set it and forget it - don’t move it once installed.

Works and then it doesn't and then it does ... frustrating
I grow a large volume of flowers and veggies in a small space and this product was highly endorsed in a Dahlia growers group as one of the best tools to use with a drip irrigation system to help with systematic feeding of the plants during bloom season. The first week it worked amazingly and like a charm. I got my plants in ground late this season so I'm using a Kelp and Fish Emulusion fertilizer which is dark brown. I blend it in a 5 gallon bucket and put the siphon in before it goes to and through the drop irrigation system. I can tell by the color of the water if the siphon is working (or not) and it sucked up 5 gallons of blended fertilizer in under 30 minutes. The next week I noticed that my 5 gallion bucket was overflowing with water. When the automated drip system wasn't turned on, the tool was backflowing and water was running out and through the siphon. I started manually turning the water flow on and off. Now I'm 5 weeks into using this product and it won't siphon at all. No idea why it's not working.

The best way to fertilize while you water!
I've been using these for years. (They used to be inexpensive!) Connect it to your faucet then connect your garden hose. Place the black small hose into a bucket of water with liquid fertilizer. Water as usual. It feeds as you water. I have it connected to a drip system. I planted my rose garden only 7 months ago and I had wonderful roses in just a short time. One book I read says: If you aren't fertilizing this way you are working too hard! I agree!
