Limited edition high definition premium 180gm vinyl LP repressing of this classic Jazz album. Originally issued on vinyl, the ongoing popularity of LP pressings and repressings has ensured the longevity of this format for years to come. Jazz Wax Records. 2010. Review: Wonderful albumn - A jazz classic ui Review: Great Music, Great Pressing - Every jazz lover has a story about this album. Here's mine. Senior year in High School. I'm the facilitator of a "Jazz Club" at the school after hours. 6 - 8 of us meet weekly with albums in hand. I get the record player from A/V and play "Time Out" for the group. We're used to more conventional jazz. Now, we get a Rondo; different time measures; tight piano, sax, bass and drums courtesy of Dave Brubeck. And, the rest is history. My recording of this album was ready for Social Security benefits, so I decided to spring for a re-release; a limited edition Jazz Wax Records vinyl disc from desertcart. So glad I did! Not only was I rewarded by this reminder of an important jazz album; but, the pressing is flawless! I probably should get an extra copy to save, unopened, for future generations...but, I'm closing in on 80, so why not just crank up the volume, kick back and get transported back to a pivotal point in jazz innovation. Hey, the price is right; get it now! And, enjoy.

Shipped fast however the condition was slightly lesser than i had expected
it might be helpful to refer to a grading table like they have at discogs to ensure you're setting proper expectations with buyer about conditions. the record itself was graded properly however the sleeve was a bit more worn on the edges than i would have liked. not a bad deal overall considering the price. overall good...

Innovative and enjoyable
This album broke jazz out of its self imposed 4/4 time straight jacket. Dave Brubeck was exposed to music with less common time signatures when he traveled to Turkey and other parts of Eurasia. All of the songs on this album are partly or in whole written in uncommon time signatures. While not all albums that enrich music by breaking new ground are enjoyable to listen to, this one is. The songs are melodic and catchy yet unique and original. Especially the classic song "Take Five," which has one of the most recognizable melodies in jazz history. Take Five was actually the one song not written by Dave Brubeck on the album, it was written by Paul Desmond, the great cool jazz saxophonist. Brubeck and Desmond have generally been drawn to create music that is melodic and laid back, in contrast to the aggressive and challenging bee bop styles that came before them. This album is true to that spirit.
