Great all-around flashlight, simple to use, well built.
Even though this flashlight is primarily marketed as a diving flashlight, it's probably one of the best all-around options I've seen so far. I reviewed it more from a normal user standpoint, than of what a flashlight nerd or diver would, and here are my takes from it: Size-wise it's on the large end, but not so large where its weight and dimensions make it a hassle like one of those huge cop maglights. It's not one that you will hold with your mouth, but you can comfortably handle it for a longer period of time, and you get plenty of power capacity in return for the larger frame. The good: - It is extremely simple to operate. It's probably the most frustration-free you can get with a flashlight aside from the simple on/off. It goes from low to high in 4 presses, remembers your last level, hold to turn off. No strobe modes in between and half-pressing buttons. Simple as that. - It has what I believe the perfect blend of a thrower and a flooder. On the pictures I compared it to both types, and the balance this model offers is just on point on my opinion. It was able to clearly illuminate the trees +400ft on the center of the image, while also covering a good area closer to my surroundings. -The built quality of the flashlight is very good. Doesn't have parts to be snagging or falling, and everything about it looks well finished. -The Samsung LEDs used on it are of very good quality and they show really well the colors (that's what the CRI level means). -The price is a good deal for what you get, you have 10000mah of capacity, waterproofing, good color rendition LEDs, very high output, for not much more than the "10000000000 lumens" crap that is for sale everywhere. The bad: Mine came with two non-matched Li-Ion batteries, where one of them had more capacity than the other. They were both new and from the same brand, but the measured capacity of them was notably different. Overall both of them together delivered all the promised capacity, but that means that fully discharging the flashlight could bring one of those batteries under the minimum recommended voltage, damaging it, and in worst case scenario causing it to leak, creating a hazardous condition. That can be avoided by not fully discharging it (that ideally should not be done to any Li-Ion battery), but since the flashlight does not have a power level indicator (it only does a double blink every 60 seconds when the overall battery charge is low, and that's too late for the weaker cell), you end up guessing when would be the ideal time to recharge them. And topping up Li-Ion batteries after every little use can be as damaging as well. My conclusion: Even taking in consideration the oversight of the manufacturer of not matching cells, I still gave a full 5 star rating because the flashlight itself definitely deserves it. It delivers everything I could expect and more for its price, and it's rare for me to find a model which does well all-around like the DL40 does.

Great Dive Light
I searched for the perfect dive light but you just can't seem to find it. My wife and I were getting our Advanced Open Water Dive Certification and needed dive lights for our dusk and night dive. I decided not to break the bank on dive lights we would probably only use a few times. After much searching and reading reviews I purchased two of the Wurkkos DL20R dive lights. My initial thoughts were they are well made and on turbo/bright they are very bright with a fully charged battery. Before using I lubricated the o-rings with silicone grease and charged the lights with the supplied USB cable. It did take a while to charge, if Wurkkos offered a spare set of batteries and charger I'd buy a set so one could be charged / charging. You can find rechargeable replacements on Amazon along with a charger. We purchased Hammerhead Industries Gear Keeper Medium Scuba Flashlight Retractors which we clipped to the BCD and it worked great with this light. Our dusk and night dive we were impressed with the light, of our Advanced Open Water Dive class this was by far the brightest light of all the dive lights. We dove a fresh water lake which had a ton of floaties / back scatter in it ~10' visibility so while they were the brightest we used the lowest to medium level almost all the time except to signal other divers or highlight fish, the light was so bright you couldn't see very far due to the back scatter. Other divers could absolutely see the lights glow on bright and worked great for signaling. Without recharging we took the lights on three dives and used them most of the time on two of the dives for a total of about an hour. We were super happy with the performance and price. I think a bit of maintenance and fully charged batteries these will serve us well and run a long time. Consider buying another battery/charger if you are doing multiple night dives using a brighter setting as they take a while to recharge. With all that said I would like to see a small case, bag or box for the light. The cardboard box it came it isn't going to last.

Pretty nice diving flashlight.
Since this light is advertised as a diving flashlight I did a bit of testing to see if the specifications were accurate. First, there is the lumen and the color temperature of this flashlight. The lumens from my testing are definitely above 4000 Lumens since it can easily overpower my 4000-lumen flashlight and since I don't have the testing equipment to get an exact number I can at least confirm that it is over 4000 lumens. The color temperature was a bit confusing for me since it was unlike any other 5000k lights i have since when i ramped up the brightness it stayed at 5000k unlike my other light which all became cooler as there brightness was raised. That being said the 5000k is still very nice to look at since it has those high CRI Samsung leds which provide a a very nice neutral white that don't seem to shift with brightness. The beam angle is quite focused giving it a more spotlight-like beam, but it still has a good amount of flood on the sides so your surroundings are still quite visible. When it comes to the water resistance I have not taken it out for diving just yet, but I did do a quick test by turning the light on high and putting it at the bottom of my pool which is 9ft deep for two hours to see if any water would make its way into the light. I am happy to report it survived the test and stayed on for the duration of the submersion. I did lubricate the threads and orings with Super Lube to give them the best chance of survival and smooth out the threads. Just like my other dive light, there are two sets of orings on each end of the light which give the light a much higher resistance to water ingress. The water atleast at 9ft did not get past the first oring on both ends. The few negatives that I have are that the batteries were not balanced when I first got the light so make sure the fully charge the batteries before use since you will lose performance if one of the 26650 cells is at a lower voltage than the other one. My second negative is that if you are used to most other flashlights where you turn the light on and off with a single click of the button and you change modes by holding down the button this light is a little different. On this light, it is reverse most licky because it is a diving light so one click will turn it on, but to turn it off you must hold down the button since clicking the button when the light is on will change the mode. This sould not be an issue as you get used to the way the light functions. My final negative is that once you close the light the batteries do rattle a little bit if you shake the light since the inner diameter of the battery compartment is a little bit bigger than the batteries themselves, but that is pretty minor. Other than that the light works very well and is plenty powerful for whatever you may want to use it for both on land or in water.

Love the light, not sure of the 2000 lumen rating
I was a little hesitant at first with this flashlight. I'm used to lights with push-buttons on the end of the handle, and with a more textured, tactical look to them. Over the last few weeks though, I've come to appreciate the single button on the side. I also LOVE this idea I got from Wurkkos: if you want to ensure there is no way the light can accidentally get turned on, give the end a slight twist. Not even a full or half twist; just barely a twist makes it so the light can't turn on (ie, our young kids don't play with it and run the battery out =). Then when I use it, a slight twist to the end and it's ready to go. One press of the side button turns on the light, and each press after that cycles between four levels of brightness. Long-press the button to turn off the light, and when you turn it back on again it remembers the brightness it was at when you last turned it off. I'm not sure about the 2000 lumen turbo setting. It's bright, but doesn't seem like 2000 lumens to me. Since the beam is not adjustable I do like that it has a bright narrow beam surrounded by a more diffused outside beam; so you get the benefits of both. Anytime I get something with an IPX rating I strive for the highest possible, even when unnecessary. In this case it's necessary because this light can go deeper than I've ever gone or ever will go, but it feels good that it's THAT waterproof. I don't think you can get higher than the IPX-8 of this flashlight. I like that as a dive light it's extra-durable, because we tease in my family about needing cases on everything due to how rough we are with them. So durability is a feature we appreciate. The battery is rechargeable, but instead of having a charging port on the flashlight it comes with an external charger. I appreciate that because this is a diving light, and no port makes one less way for the waterproofness to fail. It also gives me a way to charge some of my other batteries =) This light came with extra O-rings, a USB-C cable to plug into the external charger (or whatever other electronic I need it for =), and quite a unique lanyard. The size and thickness of the lanyard are better than any I've ever received for a flashlight or other lanyard-friendly device, but the unique part is the silicone sleeve on it. At first I thought it was bulky and awkward and unnecessary, but it makes it SO easy to slip your hand into! Even when not diving but just sitting at your desk (I always have a light sitting at the edge of my desk in case I want to illuminate something either under the desk or outside at night), when you hear something scurrying along the side of the house - with one movement you are slipping your right hand into the lanyard, standing up, and opening the window with the left hand to see that skunk before it disappears around the corner of the house. Hypothetically. I know from past experience that Wurkkos has great customer service. Before I got my first Wurkkos I had Streamlight, Thorfire, Coastal, Klarus, Maglite, and some others I can't remember off the top of my head. Wurkkos are the ones I keep at my desk now. They are solid, throw a great light, and have been such good deals for the money. Thank you for reading, I hope it was helpful.

Wurkkos does it again, this time with a diving light
The first thing you'll notice about this diving light is it's perfect palm size form factor. Not only is the form factor ideal to fit in your hands but it's large enough to get a solid grip on it even if you may be wearing diving gloves. The other thing I immediately noticed is that the on/off / adjustment ring is placed exactly where your thumb and forefinger would fall on the body of the light when you were gripping it normally. The adjustment ring also has some grooves machined into it to give you a better grip on the adjustment ring as likely will be required under slippery water. And again the adjustment ring is placed precisely where your hand would expect it to be while attempting to manipulate the adjustment ring underwater or again possibly wearing diving gloves. This tells me it's a very well thought out light. The rotational adjustment ring makes the switch waterproof as there are no exposed mechanical parts that could be damaged by being submerged in water. The power for this light is provided by a very generous 26650 lithium cell rated at 5,000 mAh. These 26650 cells are some of the largest commercially available lithium ion cells and their perfect for this application as they provide a greatly extended runtime, because, well you can't actually be changing batteries underwater now can you? This included 26650 cell was verified to have 5,000 mAh capacity when tested and has generally been my experience with all of the wurkkos labeled lithium cells, all very high quality. The light also includes a typical ball mount found on other diving accessories. Package also includes a lithium ion cell charger as well as spare o-rings and instruction manual and an 18650 adapter tube that you can use in a pinch to run this diving light on 18650 lithium cells. Also included is a hefty lanyard that attached to the end of the diving light. Now on to the actual performance in terms of illumination. The first rotational click provides a cold white spotlight The second click provides a warm white flood light that is extremely bright, the next click is still a warm white flood light but at a lower brightness, subsequent click turns on the red light, and the last mode is an ultraviolet light. What I've noticed throughout all of these modes, and I'm not sure how they did this, but the beam flood is extremely evenly dispersed. There are no hot spots donuts or bright rings anywhere it is just one very smooth wide cone of light without any discernible center source. This is critical when using a light underwater especially a very bright light of 3000 lumens so that the reflection back from the water doesn't blind you or impair what you're trying to observe, so it's essential to have that very smooth wide spread field of light so that you can appropriately see underwater versus a beam with a hotspot center that would impair your vision underwater. This again tells me that not only was the mechanics & physical construction of the light well thought out but also the electrical / illuminating properties are ideal for diving. Well I have to admit I'm a little bit of a flashaholic owning over 50 different flashlights. Enter into my collection this latest offering, and I believe this is their first so called "diving light" advertised as 100% waterproof. We're going to test that! Okay I tested it, please see video. Spoiler alert.. It passed 100% functionality and remained totally dry inside the light itself. If you look at the photos above you can see a totally dark in ground swimming pool which in the next photo is illuminated by ONLY this diver light on high. The pool is approximately 40 to 50 ft long and the diver light had no trouble illuminating the pool from one end to the other which hopefully you can see in the photos and in the video. Also if you leave off the diving ball accessory arm on the light you should be able to screw it into a tripod mount, and be able to use it as a photography fill light ,since as I mentioned the spread and smooth beam pattern allows this to function also as a fill light for photography with its very smooth even pattern of light dispersion. I've looked at the prices of a few other diving lights and they can be very very expensive where as this light here performs very well at a fraction of the cost of those other diving lights. Keep in mind a high quality 26650 lithium cell is close to 20.00 alone. If you like me you're going to try one light from Wurkkos and wind up with a whole bunch more of their products, I'm excited to see what they put out next. (That's assuming you're a " flashaholic" like me.)

Large flashlight that is built like a tank
After having this light for a short time now, and using it in daytime, nighttime, and underwater, I have to say, I’ve come to love this light. It is very well built, feeling very durable in your hand. This light originally appealed to me due to the fact that it is built for deep sea diving. I do not do deep-sea diving myself, however, I wanted to have this light due to the fact that has extreme water resistance. I wanted to add a light to my collection that I could take basically anywhere outdoors and not have to worry about it getting ruined (to the lake, beach, etc.). I am happy to say that it has survived everything I have put it through this far. Another thing that was amazing to me was this flashlights battery capacity. It uses and ships with two 26650 batteries as well as a charger for them. On low setting, this flashlight is rated for almost 30 hours of constant usage at around 300 lm which has been adequate for most of my needs so far. This does not have USB-C charging capability built into the flashlight allowing for better water protection. This flashlight also comes with some inserts to allow for use of two 18650 cells which is appealing to me because I have lots of those batteries around right now, so I can use those as spares if needed. Another cool thing that I have come to really enjoy with this flashlight is it’s magnetic switch. This is definitely unique and I have not used a flashlight with anything similar. This magnetic on off switch provides a near complete seal from outside the light. It is also very fun to actuate, and I wish they would use these in other flashlights as well. I think this flashlight produces a ton of light, I do not know if it fully reaches 5000 lm, but it is easily brighter than my FC 12, and TS 11 flashlights which have outputs of around 2000 lm. I would describe the beam as a good mix between flood and spot. It’s overall throw is much less than a TS 11 and even the FC 12, but has much better flood capabilities than either flashlight. This light is very large, and feels hefty while holding it in your hand. It honestly feels like that you could use it as a hammer due to how well built it feels while using it. This is definitely not an every day carry flashlight as it is too large to fit in most pockets, but this is not what it was intended for. I have found that I enjoy using it in the early morning or late at night going on walks or walking to my car. This flashlight fits into my life for a few reasons. I plan on using this light to assist me in my outdoor activities, including: walks, hikes, camping, going to the beach and the lake. I think this will make a really good emergency preparedness flashlight as well, especially if you live in a flood prone area as it will easily survive those types of scenarios. I have also really enjoyed showing this flashlight off to others as it looks and feels really cool and gets a lot of compliments. Overall, I would highly recommend this flashlight to anyone who is worried about having extreme water resistance, and a very durable and rugged flashlight. It is very bright and has a very long battery life, and is compatible with the 26650 and 18650 batteries with the insert so spares are fairly accessible.

Fantastic Light!
I own several other Wurkkos flashlights, but this is my first diving light. And it does not disappoint! Like my other Wurkkos lights, the fit, finish, and overall build quality of the DL07 is excellent. Upon opening the box, you'll find: - the DL07 Flashlight (with a 5000mAh, 26650 battery already installed) - battery charger - USB-C cable for battery charger - strap/lanyard - ball mount - ball mount screw - extra o-rings - spacer to allow for smaller diameter battery to be used (probably an 18650) - instructions and notice Since this is a diving light, let's look at a few features that are different than a "regular" flashlight. First of all, this light is supposed to remain waterproof down to 100m. Have I tested that claim? Not yet. Do I believe it? Absolutely. Under the tail cap, there are 2 o-rings, instead of the usual 1 o-ring that I have in my other waterproof lights. You can see this in some of the pictures. Also, instead of the usual button on the side or tail cap, this light utilizes a magnetic rotary switch to turn the light on and rotate through the different modes. This is one less point of failure as far as water ingress is concerned. The ring rotates very smoothly and has a distinct click/stopping point at each setting. The "lanyard" is longer than usual and has a rubber sleeve, so that it's comfortable on the wrist. A ball mount is included, for mounting to an underwater camera or anywhere else you might have a ball clamp. The ball is mounted to the light using the included 1/4-20 bolt, which means you could also use the hole to mount this light to a standard tripod as well. Now, let's talk about the emitters. The DL07 contains: - 1 x CREE XPL-HI 5300-5700K LED - 4 x Samsung LH351D 5000K 90CRI LEDs - 1 x CREE XPE LED red light - 1 x LG UV LED light The 4 Samsung LH351D LEDs are a very pleasant color and offer a nice, wide flood. The rotary switch allows selection of a low (max 800 Lumens) and a high (max 3000 Lumens!) for these flood emitters The CREE XPL-HI 5300-5700K LED offers a narrower and cooler colored beam. It gives a max of 1000 Lumens. The red CREE emitter claims to have a max of 180 lumens, but feels brighter. And the LG UV offers a max 1000 Lumens. With 4 different types of emitters and 5 color/brightness selections, it's a great all around light, whether you dive or not. (The UV light is especially fun for the kids, who have glow-in-the-dark stars on their bedroom ceilings) Overall, I feel that Wurkkos flashlights are a great value and the DL07 is no exception.

Chonker of a light
This is a tank of a flashlight, very solid feeling in the hand and hefty with its two 26650 batteries (included) inside. It has some texturing on the body of the light which helps keep grip while it’s wet and the power button on the side of the light is glove friendly and has a simple UI with single quick button presses used to turn on and cycle through the modes with a long press used to turn the light back off. The light without batteries inside weighs in at 12.975 ounces and 19.725 ounces with the two included 26650 batteries installed. The light is 8 inches tall and about 2.5 inches wide at its widest (head of the light) and about 1 and 1/4th at its narrowest (body). With the batteries installed it feels well balanced in the hand albeit a bit on the chonky (heavy) side. The light pattern produced looks like four overlapping circles when shown on nearby walls think 4 leaf clover with a 5th circle right in the middle with a bit of a hot spot in the center of the beam. The battery tube (body of the light) has nice smooth threads on both ends and two O-rings on each end to provide a tight seal and prevent water ingression. The light came with two 26650 batteries, a basic dual bay charger, two spare o-rings, a micro usb cable for the charger, two 18650 spacers (In case you prefer to use 18650 cells in the light), a lanyard, and a user manual. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and would recommend this light to anyone who’s in the market for a solidly built and bright diving light who don’t mind the extra size of weight in exchange for more light output and longer runtimes vs smaller lights. I would consider this light (DL40) to be like the larger beefier brother of the Wurkkos DL20R which is a single emitter and single 18650 light which I also own and also like as well. I have about 5 Wurkkos lights in my collection and so far every one of them has been a great value for the money and reliable over time. Pros. 1. Very bright 2. Quad LH351D emitters at 5000 kelvin 3. High color rendering index (CRI) 4. Feels solid and well made 5. Includes batteries and charger 6. Also includes spare O-rings, lanyard, and 18650 battery spacers in the box. 7. Easy to use and understand UI 8. Very good value for the price Cons. 1. Could be considered a bit too heavy/large for some 2. Button is easy to accidentally press and would like to have seen some sort of electronic lockout mode (The manual recommends manually locking out the light by partially untwisting the tailcap.) 3. Heats up very quickly on highest output setting.
