Wizard of Oz: 75th Anniversary (DVD) In this classic musical fantasy, Judy Garland stars as Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land "somewhere over the rainbow." Dorothy's dream comes true when she, her dog, Toto, and her family's house are transported by a tornado to a bright and magical world unlike anything she has seen before. Unfortunately, she makes a mortal enemy of a wicked witch when the house falls on the hag's sister. Now, befriended by a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion--and protected by a pair of enchanted ruby slippers--Dorothy sets off along a yellow brick road for the Emerald City to beseech the all-powerful Wizard of Oz for his help to return home. Classic film made better by 4K
It is a classic film that's been popular for a very long time so that has got to tell you something. The 4K edition looks and sounds greater than I imagined it could, even the flying monkeys were a bit scarier, but maybe that's just me. Still, am very glad I made the purchase.

A Nostalgic Classic
Great for home or educational purposes. Nostalgic and a classic. Most people use streaming or watch programs they pay for, but I’d say this is good product to have in your collection.

The 4k is Undoubtedly the version you want
The first thing to understand is that yes this is a movie from 1930. So no the 4k quality is not going to be "4k" like a great looking modern movie. There is some minor amount of smear in detail and color compared to be the more modern examples. And keep in mind, I'm comparing to the best 4k versions I have seen. And that's pretty much it for cons. Because it's all fun from there on! I have watched several previous versions - the dvd and blu ray - and this 4k scan is just quite stunning. I wonder how they even managed the level of detail present. This was a complete native 4k (or higher) scan of the film negatives. My wife and I noticed new things in every single scene. From the plastic flowers, or where the painted backdrop of the Oz countryside meets the yellow brick road. The sparkle in Dorothy's shoes is quite detailed. The good witch was a lot older than we realized. All the actors in the town m***land were clearly shown. Also the colors are extremely vibrant and detailed. On previous versions in the sepia scenes showed very little detail. In this version, there is a whole lot of detail in the sepia scenes as well. We can more clearly see the resemblance of the Lion, scarecrow, and tinman in real life and the scale of Kansas. So it isn't just the technicolor sections that were well done. It was a very impressive movie back then and it still impresses now. I have zero regrets and this is a showpiece of what is possible with 4k technology and older film. Another good example of this is "The Shining" in 4k. Looking forward to more.

Unusable.
I was very disappointed. I bought this as a gift. I had assumed that by buying on Amazon Australia that despatch would have ensured the video would play in Oceania. My gift was rendered useless because of this.

Superb Quality!
I have seen this movie many many times, back to when it was an annual event on broadcast TV. Then VHS and DVD. This 4K release is like watching it for the very first time when it was released in theatres. The colours are glorious and the sound couldn't be better.
