Great for induction cooktop - beware of size
I've never cooked waffles before in my life, but was able to nail it the first time (I do cook a lot and was relatively confident). There was no wax coating that I could notice. Washed with warm water and dish soap, then seasoned it according to manufacturer's instructions (175ยฐC - 370F for 1 hour inside the oven) using sunflower oil, except I placed both faces facing up instead of down so the oil remained instead of dripping off. Then heated the iron on the induction cooktop (power level 6-7 out of 9), each half on a different heating element. Used Martha's Stewart easy waffles recipe (simply because it was the first or second that popped up on google), added a little buter with the silicone brush, poured some batter onto one half and covered with the other, 2 minutes on each side, and that's it. You can see the result on the second picture. This batter didn't rise to fill the whole waffle iron (maybe it was too thin/liquid), so the result was kind of a 1 sided waffle, but I'm sure the recipe can be tweaked to make it rise all the way. The first picture shows the scale of the iron on the stove, and some cassava waffles made with dough instead of batter, also great, fluffy and crispy. The waffles take a little prying with a fork to lift and remove them, but they didn's stick to the iron, each one came out perfectly clean. Now, making waffles is a slow and patience defying process. This is not for making breakfast for a large party in a hurry due to the iron not being very large and each waffle taking about 4 to 5 minutes to cook. If you need to cook a lot of waffles quickly, buy two or 3 irons, or maybe get a larger electric waffle maker. A final note on a very important feature: The large handles make it really easy to use it. It comes with two cotton holders to prevent burning your hands, but the handles barely got warm and I could use them without the holders without a problem.

Waffle Irons!
Casting is a bit crude but will still work as intended after being well seasoned. The rod handles are really tight at first but can be easily unscrewed to make it easier for cleaning and seasoning in the oven. Using mine on induction cooktop and works great. Well worth the affordable price. I would buy again. Edit: After three uses, and with oven seasoning in between batch cooks, the griddles are now100% non stick. I do brush on a small amount of ghee after each waffle to help it along. Outstanding waffle iron! If it where not for the crude casting, this would be a 5 star product. I would recommend this to anyone who knows how to properly season cast iron.

Great
Just tried it for the first time, worked really well. It comes preseasoned, I didn't notice any machine oil on it, but I still took the precaution of washing it thoroughly with dish soap and doing a single layer of my own seasoning. If you're familiar with cast iron, there's nothing new or complicated here. I used regular pancake mix and just made it the way I usually do. I heated both halves separately on high heat, then put it together and set it to medium high on my gas stove, poured in the middle and let it cook for 1 minute, flipped it and cooked for 3 minutes, then flipped in once more and cooked for another 2 minutes. Came out golden, fluffy and reasonably thick (maybe almost an inch thick). My son loves it, and I do too. I think it's a good size in terms of diameter and thickness. I really like the metal handles that are a bit longer. It comes with handle covers which are a nice addition, as well as a small silicone brush. I just used spray canola oil for my purpose and it worked like a charm. Very pleased with this purchase and see myself using this for years and years.

great waffle maker
I was looking for a waffle maker without non stick coating on it and decided to give this one a try. First off, it works great. The iron needs some basic initial care (seasoning) like any piece of cast iron. After that waffles come out easily and taste great. The long handles don't heat up at all and are easy to use. They unscrew for seasoning in the oven. Making waffles with this is much more hands on than a traditional plug in waffle iron. You need to set timers and flip the iron after a couple minutes. It's a bit of a hassle, but worth it to know the irons are non toxic. I would love to find a cast iron plug in waffle iron but as far as I know no one makes them. In the meantime this works great. Last thing i will mention is that the waffles are not a Belgian waffle shape, they are more like a large eggo.
