It can be used outdoors, but it is not waterproof.

Can I daisy chain this directly into the power coming to an outlet or do I need a a special power supply

As stated in the description, the power supply included in the kit gets it power via two leads that connect to: "AC input: Standard AC100V-240V 50-60HZ".

What type of wire do I need to wire this.. will 23awg cat 6 work ?

Good product, easy to install if you already know the basics of access control systems but the directions they provide are a bit vague if you don't know anything about it.
