Review: - with lots of carefully taken photographs and a story of importing exotic trees to Delhi Review: This compendium. Is unique IN every sense.More I read more I am getting overwhelmed. I am particularly interested In Panchavati, a spiritualists Sadhan kshetra. Barged , peeple, Bel briksha, Ashok and Amla or Amlaki. Here I have to search for these spiritual trees.Printing, colored images have magnifying effect.i am really happy to read about Baobab my dream tree. It is not only a guide to understanding ecology of my location but a strong and informative hand book on my surrounding nature and it's valuable children, the trees we live with. I wish I get a short discussion on Saptaparni the leaves of which are compulsorily given with degree at convocation of Visva Bharati, the great institution founded by Rabindranath.

I am not qualified enough to write a review for this book. My reviewing is akin to showing light to Sun. The book is a monumental and first of it's kind work in bringing Trees of Delhi closer to the people of Delhi. While most of us are aware of so called greenery in Delhi, when it comes to specifically naming those greens, most of us are at a loss. Let's face it, we know very little about our Green companions and this book introduces them to us in the most simplistic manner possible. It's painstakingly researched, graphically elucidated and ordered in a manner that is easy on eye and light on grey cells. There's very little Botany type lesson here. This is written for common non-botany person and it does a marvellous job at it. Major categorisation is based on type of leaves, which is the easiest to spot in a tree. And then each plate within that category describes fruits, flowers, bark, leaves of ech type of tree. When to expect it's flowers, fruits, shedding, new leaves, what is is most confused with, local name for it and best of all - where to spot it in Delhi. If you are curious about your surroundings and especially trees, would like to know more about them, then this is one book you cannot afford to miss. It's a book for the keeps and I am thankful that we live in the same times as Pradip Krishen.

Iska tareef likhne ke liye mujhe ek book likhna padega :) Behad upyogi kitab.. information ko itne achhe tareeke se prastut kiya hai ki maza hi aa gaya.. aur haan, local naam har jagah diya gaya hai usse to maza hi aa jata hai.. Ek cheez hai lekin ye poora Dilli cover nahi karta, bas central Delhi tak simit hai.. delhi ke baki major planned areas, jaise Dwarka, Rohini wagerah ke bare me koi jikra nahi hai.. na hi delhi ke kai rural areas ke tree ke bare me.. lekin main asha karta hu usse koi ghata nahi hai kyuki in ilako me wahi sare ped lake lagaye gaye honge..
