TRENDnet Punch Down Tool With 110 And Krone Blade, Insert & Cut Terminations In One Operation, Precision Blades Are Interchangeable & Reversible, Network Punch Tool, Grey, TC-PDT

My Microsoft Surface notebook is a great computer except for having very slow Wi-Fi speeds. All other computer devices in the house obtain a little over 400 MBPS Wi-Fi down link speed. The Surface only obtains, at best, a little over 100 MBPS. A CAT-5 Ethernet cable wall outlet was on the opposite side of my office room computer desk. The cable connects to a Spectrum router in an adjoining room. The cable was re-routed in the walls to behind my desk. A flat stick punch tool, for telephone wire connecting, was used for terminating the CAT-5 cable ends on Keystone wall plates on both ends. The Internet download speed was still just a little above 100 MBPS. The TRENDnet Punch Down Tool was used to re-punch down the 8 wires on each Keystone receptacle. The Internet speed leaped to as high as 690 MBPS. The subscription from an Internet service cable provider is 500 MBPS down & 20 MBPS up. The TRENDtool was very easy to use with great results, a very beneficial investment!

Working as a network tech I have used most brands of punch down tools out there. The best brand for any network tools is typically Fluke....except their punch down tool. I have had nothing but issues with their tool and this punch down from Trendnet is PERFECT! Build Quality - I have used this for approximately 200 installs which would mean ~10000 terminations. I have had ZERO issues with this. I sharpened the blade around install 150 as it was getting a little dull and harder to punch. It is still working perfectly to this day Adjustments - I typically don't use any of the adjustments and keep it at a standard impact. The adjustments do work well from what i have tested. Cost - So much cheaper than Fluke it is insane. I don't know why you would go with any other brand. Warranty/Support - I haven't had any issues yet so I haven't contacted their support 5/5 - I am a huge fan of this product and I hope this review helped!

I recently purchased this to replace my sons last punch tool which was stolen from a job site. he is an IT pro and use this once in a while. I dont do cabling full time but I do need to punch a jack now and then or replace a bad cable. THIS IS NOT A HIGH END TOOL like a fluke but does the job well. always punch twice with medium pressure set and it cuts the wire every time and produces a solid connection. The only down side is they included a krone blade which is not used in the USA so it is useless. They should have included a 66 blade which is used for telephone work. I will be buying another one as a backup and fitting it with a 66 blade.

I normally use a Harris (now Fluke) D-814 that I've had and enjoyed for over 2 decades, so my review is based on experience with the higher end tool. I sometimes need a second punch down tool or don't have the Harris/Fluke with me, so I thought I'd try the TRENDnet. Side by side with the Harris/Fluke, it is obvious that TRENDnet copied the Fluke time-tested design very closely. The plastic is lighter and has a less substantial feel to it. The knobs/wheels are hollow instead of solid. The springs for the impact adjustment and blade storage are not as tight as the Harris/Fluke tool. The body of the tool is slightly larger and more squared off at the edges so may not be quite as comfortable if using it for an extended period. Despite these differences which I'm sure is how the lower price point is achieved, the tool is solid and works well. If I did not have the Harris/Fluke to compare it to, I'm sure I'd be thrilled with this unit and I probably would have given it 5 stars. The blades interchange perfectly with the Fluke blades and tool. The 110 blade has a slightly different profile than the Fluke blades that I have, but it works well regardless. The cutting blade is thicker towards the tip and thinner away from it, so it may not last as long. When all is said and done, I think this is a great punch down tool for the price. If I was looking for a primary tool to be used every day in a professional environment, I'd lean towards the Fluke. I don't know if this will last 20+ years like my Harris/Fluke, but for less frequent use or if you expect to lose it, loan it and never get it back, etc. I'd say this can't be beat for about 1/3 of the price of the Fluke. I don't know how to caption the photos, so I will describe them here: Th first photo is the TRENDnet tool and blades. The 110 blade is installed, and the Krone blade is in front. Also shown are the blade covers, which are a nice touch. The photo of the three blades shows a Fluke 110 blade in the foreground, the TRENDnet 110 blade in the middle, and a Fluke Eversharp blade (silver) towards the back. The photo of the two blades has a Fluke 110 on the left and the TRENDnet 110 on the right. They are nose-to-nose so you can see the difference in profiles. In the group of photos showing two tools, the TRENDnet is on the top or right, and my old Harris (now Fluke) D-814 is the yellow and blue tool on the bottom/left.

I wired my house with Cat6a using this tool and didn't have major issues. It did have a little difficulty cutting the cables, but Cat6a is also pretty thick and difficult to cut in general. I imagine this tool would work great for Cat5. The tips are easy to swap. It comes with both 110 and krone tips, and each tip has a cutting side and a blunt side. Changing the punchdown for is also easy. Great tool for the price.

I was adding network jacks throughout my house and needed this to punch down the Cat 6 cable in the jacks and the patch panel. It worked great and only took a few minutes to get comfortable using. It held up fine and did its job perfectly, considering I had to use it more than 100 times. I installed 4 Monoprice Surface Mount Box Cat6, Double (107093) jacks around the house (total of 8 lengths of Cat 6 cable) and ran those cables to a Cable Matters 12-Port Vertical Mini Patch Panel with 89D Bracket in the basement. With each Cat 6 cable having 8 tiny wires inside, that's 8x8x2 (128) times I had to use this punch down tool. Needless to say, I got quite comfortable using it and everything worked out perfectly. I couldn't have done the job without this thing.

I previously bought a cheaper tool and It made my job a mess, and then Immediately I looked for another good tool which is not so expensive, this was the best fit and once it arrived I noticed it is a really good quality and well built tool. this helped me to complete my job easily. I would recommend this to anyone.
