This edger is only compatible with the EGO Power Head (PH1400) and is not compatible with any other string trimmer.

does this have the guide blade at the back to assist with a straighter edge?

It’s does have a guide blade. Maybe it didn’t on a older molded, but as of 2022 it does have a removable guide blade.

How much is a battery for my EGO edger since it didn't come with one

Depending upon the Ah battery you choose from 2.5 - 10.0 Ah. Best value is to buy as kit with a battery
