THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS is the breakthrough album that catapulted David Bowie into the international spotlight. Over the past 50 years it has remained a touchstone record, growing in stature with each passing year. It is now ingrained in popular culture, its undeniable influence spanning musicians from Arcade Fire to Lady Gaga, to Harry Styles’s androgynous fashion sense to Noel Fielding’s shirts on The Great British Bake-Off to Ziggy make-up challenges on Tik-Tok. -On 17th June, 2022, 50 years and one day after the original U.K. release date, THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS will be issued as a limited edition 50th anniversary half speed mastered LP and a picture disc, featuring the same master and a replica promotional poster for the album. Review: David Bowie. - It's one of his best albums. Sounds great, happy it doesn't sound weird like all the new albums do. It's not my fault I listen to music that's three times my age Review: A timeless album that belongs in any vinyl collection - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie is an absolute classic and one of those records that never fails to impress. The songs are iconic from start to finish, and the album flows perfectly as a complete listen. It’s creative, theatrical, and endlessly replayable. Tracks like “Starman” and “Ziggy Stardust” always grab attention, even from people who might not be familiar with the album. This is also one of my go-to records when I have guests over. It’s engaging without being distracting and always sparks conversation once it’s spinning. A timeless album that belongs in any vinyl collection, and an easy recommendation on vinyl for both longtime fans and first-time listeners.

The album that made David everyone's favourite martian. ;)
Here it is. The huge classic that made David Bowie a huge beloved superstar. Arguably the first science fiction concept album in rock, this wonderful work truly needs no instruction. It made be just a tad jarring for newcomers to hear it after being accustomed to his later works - kind of like discovering The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper" after first being introduced to them via "Abbey Road" and the white album - but that doesn't mean the songwriting isn't irresistible. It was an amazing bridge between what David was doing before and everything afterwards, and always plays great at a party. This vinyl is wonderfully remastered, sounds flawless, and feels extremely steady. A must, not just for David's fans, but for every rock collection. An important note: When I first ordered this album, I was disappointed because on side 2 it was shipping. I called up Amazon to let them know, and assured them that I just needed a couple of days to decide what I wanted to do regarding its replacement. Then, a day later, I put it on again - I was going to video the skipping on my phone just in case it was asked for - and much to my surprise, the skipping stopped. Why? I have no idea, but I did call Amazon back to let them know that an exchange/return arrangement wouldn't be needed after all because it had stopped shipping. And was I ever relieved! (I hate trying to exchange things, especially through the mail in the area I live in.) So I'm guessing that maybe some of the vinyls during a particularly pressing run might have had, say, some sort of dust left over on them or something. In any case, if yours skips, don't fret; try carefully cleaning it off first (the way professionals recommend online), I have the feeling that in this album's case it will just need a slight cleaning and it will be fine. ;)

There will never be another
My niece was delighted to hear that vinyl is worth the money. I am happy to share history with her. The future was then.

Good pressing
Overall great pressing, sound is good. Now I have Dsd digital file version of this, and it sounds better. This album was apparently taken from a 192 khz original file. To me, it sounds a bit thin, especially in the bass. At times it sounds open but not consistent. That being said, if you are not comparing to an original album or the dsd equivalent, you will be happy. For the money, you cannot ask for more.

Fantastic pressing, poor packaging
A great release of this legendary album. I'm very happy with the sound quality, stereo separation, low end, high end, etc. It's all fantastic. And the album itself is one of my all time favorites. However I have to deduct a star due to the lackluster packaging. I don't fully understand how so care was taken to make this pressing sound great, only to ship it in a cheap brittle paper sleeve. When I removed the record from its sleeve for the first time, it was totally covered in various sizes of paper chunks. I think most of this paper came from the sleeve already separating on the side (on a new never opened record). Nothing a bit of cleaning couldn't fix, but it's regrettable that this great pressing was packaged so carelessly.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars fait partie de mes Albums préférés de David Bowie.
