Which size should i get for a green cheek conure? is a large too big?

A conure would love the large size. When our African Grey tired of destroying the lollipop sticks, I moved the toy over to our budgie flight and they had fun with it.

What do you use to keep the sticks inside the block of wood? I have lolipop sticks and i was going to gut an old block and put new sticks in. But safe

The sticks are glued in there really well and even as the bird pulls one out the rest stay attached. This is one of my African Grey’s favorite toys and it lasts quite a while. And if your bird likes to chew wood, even if all the sticks are gone, the block is a great toy too.

is the wood too hard for lovebirds?

I have a blue crown conure and he loves this toy. He uses it as a perch and chews on the 'sticks'. I do not think the sticks would be too hard for a love bird.

How far do the sticks stick out from the wooden block? My Amazon likes to perch on the 6-1/2"x1-1/2" perch; I wondered if this perch would work.

My macaw perches herself ontop of the block of wood after she chews off all the sticks. Those sticks are basically lollipop sticks dyed with safe color dye. My macaw absolutely LOVES this toy
