A Handy Slip-On Bevel Guide
This simple, slide-on angle guide does help maintain a consistent angle when sharpening a knife. I am not an expert sharpener and I do not trust myself to maintain the same angle for both sides of the blade and while stepping through different levels of abrasives. I am currently experimenting with the "Scary Sharp" approach, using 3M honing film mounted on float glass, to sharpen some of my older kitchen knives. The guide does help but for a really sharp edge, after setting the bevels and polishing to 12 micron/1200 grit, I finish with 9 micron/1800 grit. And I have to roll the guide up off the back just a couple of degrees to finish with the last half dozen strokes. And I do this for both sides of the knife, of course. The Scary Sharp approach is being adopted by many woodworkers for their flat chisel and plane blades. Most highly recommend using a bevel guide of one sort or another. It is also being used by Straight Razor enthusiasts, though the one tutorial video did not show a bevel guide being used. Given my stated above lack of confidence in my ability to maintain an identical bevel for both sides as I step through 40/30/12/9 micron honing films, a guide of some sort seemed mandatory. And this one is working for me well. I even used it with some 120 grit wet/dry sanding paper to remove larger nicks in the kitchen knives The ceramic rod at the back of the guide slipped over all of the various levels of abrasives quite well. The price seems a bit high for what it is. But most competitor guides were similarly priced. One guide is significantly cheaper but comes from overseas and takes weeks to arrive. I would buy this guide again. as it is well made and delivered very quickly.

Handy accessory to attain a precise edge
I received a sharp pebble stone set as a present and noticed in a video that they also had an angle guide as an accessory item. This has been a useful tool to sharpen a precise angle on my chef knives. Very easy to slip over a knife blade and hold a steady sharpening angle on the stone. The guide is hardened plastic and doesnโt leave a residue on the stone, but Iโm not applying much pressure, nor should you to get a perfect edge.

Scratched the snot outta my knife!
I used this Sharp Pebble Knife Sharpening Angle Guide once. It seemed to help me maintain an angle pretty well, though that first try didnโt produce much of an edge. The problem came when when I took it off my knife: extensive, nasty scratches on both sides of the blade (see photos). These arenโt likely to damage the function of the knife, but to me, tools are esthetic as well as functional items. This knife will forever look trashed, even if it works well. Iโm considering returning the product, since Iโll surely never let it touch another of my knives.

Helpfull
takes a little practice but does the job. Rinse well when moving along bigger knives or you may get fine scratches.

Functionally perfect for novice sharpeners
This Angle Guide takes the guesswork out of the 'what angle am I going for" question. The guide moves effortlessly and smoothly over the stone and guides the knife blade consistently until sharpened. The results for the blade are a welcome change to erratic edges on large knives.

Scratches blades
Itโs really not the fault of the device however grit from the stone gets into the guide and when you slide it along the blade to readjust the blade does scratch. If there was a way to open it, clean inside and then reattach in a new location this would be great. Iโm using it on my cheap knife block which I donโt care about the finish. Be careful to have the ceramic part flat on the stone as it can create gouges if you only have a small portion on the stone.
