SLOW but fresh drinking water
Even though these are SUPER slow, the filter works great at filtering undrinkable city tap water into clean drinking water. And we're talking like 1 drip every 5 - 10 seconds, SLLLOOOOW. But as long as I fill up the top reservoir of our PUR PLUS 30-Cup Water Filter Dispenser every time I walk by it, my family has clean water to drink. I change it out, probably less often than I should, about every other month. Though I do have this on Subscribe through Amazon to make sure when it's time to change, I have an extra ready. I'm comfortable enough with the price to keep in handy. Replacing it is easy, just soak the new one for a bit (fully submerged in cool water) and lock it into place. If the drip all but stops, I take it out and give it a shake and a rinse, and pop it back in. It's well made, fits like it should, and provides clean drinking water (even if it takes a while for it to provide it.) I still give it a 5 star, as it does what it's supposed to; filter ick water into yum water, though it takes a hot minute.

Certainly works!
Ignore the bad reviews about folks complaining it filters too slowly. Its a very long filter that removes the lead, mercury and microplastics, of course it takes time to work. It took about 15 minutes to fill an 8 cup pur slim pitcher from empty. I do notice a small difference in taste(not much but it matters) using the filter compared to the standard pur. You also need to soak it in cold water for 15 minutes before using followed by a ten second rinse. A detail im sure many skip because no one reads instructions. If you need a great filter this certainly does the job. In a study Brita filtered water faster and tasted better but PUR filtered more chemicals and a wider range of them than Brita. So you can prioritize filter speed and taste with Brita or prioritize your health with PUR.

Avoid the lead filter - impractical filtering speeds
Updating review for 1/13/2020, original review left below for context. So after filling over the past few days I've noticed it always stops filtering at a certain fill level. Taking the filter out of the container, I noticed the carbon granules looked fairly packed in the filter, and weren't moving around as I flipped the filter. I vigorously shook the filter for 10-15 seconds until it looked like all the particles were moving around freely, and put the filter back in the container. For the first time since installing this filter, the entire reservoir was filtered in a very quick amount of time. If you're encountering issues with the filter being incredibly slow or not filtering: - Take the filter out - Shake it (hard) for 15-20 seconds until it sounds like a maraca - Hold it under a faucet for ~30 seconds - Replace it Problems solved, review updated, will buy again :D Original review below: -------- I previously purchased the version of this filter that does not filter lead. I believe the model was PPF900Z or CRF-950Z. As much as I like the idea of filtering out lead, these are impractical for everyday use. I PUR's pitcher, the DS-1800Z, and I've never had an issue with any of the previous filters I've ordered from Amazon / PUR. This was the first time I've used the lead-specific filters, and these are so slow, I'm going back. I filled up the pitcher's reservoir before leaving for a weekend trip and there was still water in the reservoir to be filtered when I got back three days later. I believe the issue is these filters need more pressure to filter, so once the pitcher has filled up to roughly an inch from the bottom, there isn't enough pressure from the reservoir to continue pushing water through to be filtered. I can top the pitcher off again to get mayyyyyybe another 1/4 inch, but it has never filtered all the water in the reservoir like previous filters. For how much these filters cost, there's no way I'm refilling the pitcher every 10 minutes to make sure I have a usable amount of filtered water in reserve.

Takes forever to filter, but water tastes good.
I can only assume that these filters are taking out the things they say, as I have no way to test that, but the water tastes good. 4 stars because it takes FOREVER for water to filter through. The house rule is to replace the amount taken out immediately, so there will be some available for the next person. For the sake of having microplastics reduced, that's acceptable...but the Pūr pitcher is plastic, so...

Great filters
Works well and gives water a clean taste. Water flow seems adequate, doesn't really take long.

Love it but...
We have a pur pitcher and honestly I use it to make coffee and tea in my coffeemaker and the kettle. The reason I do is city water tastes like crp but more importantly I like to remove things that cause calcification and excessive damage to my coffee and tea makers. They are easy to use, there is no issue with leakage, they are manufacturer product and do as they advertise as best as I can tell. I will say this, my Breville espresso machine is 2 yrs old, used every day(used to be used for 2 cups of espresso at 4 shots each)...4 shots in mine 4 in wife's but now she doesn't drink espresso often so its just me but to that end the decalcification signal has only come on once so far. Do that with tap water and you'll be doing it more often. Highly recommend this. My ONLY concern with ANY of these products is they strip vitamins and essential minerals which can lead to ineffective hydration needs so make sure you consider that in your dietary portions

Works Great
I live in Dalby, rural Australia. Australia has extremely archaic standards on lead levels, allowing 4.5% lead content in faucet fittings (as opposed to .25% in the USA/Canada). There are many old lead pipes in Australia's plumbing, but the government has avoided expensive replacements claiming the lead levels in the water are "natural". The government has recently begun recommending all households run their faucets for 30 seconds first, before drinking the water... My water tastes metallic. Are lead levels elevated in my water? I don't know, probably not, I don't care. There is inevitably some amount of lead, and it is inevitably going to be reduced by this filter. There's really no safe amount of lead, the less the better. A recent sampling of 212 households in NSW, Australia found that 56% of the 212 households had detectable levels of lead in their water, and 8% exceeded allowable Australian standards for lead. Granted, elevated blood levels of lead have rarely been found to be linked to drinking water. But keep in mind, children consume more water relative to their body mass than adults, and children have developing brains. We needed a water filter anyway, as our water tastes awful. The water now tastes good, the chlorine taste is gone, and almost all of any lead will be gone. There is also a pretty impressive list of other chemicals this filter removes. The water does filter quite slowly, but the filter has been working great for a month. For the very rare people who have highly unsafe tap water but don't know it, lead is a suspected carcinogen, and this filter literally might save you from cancer. If you're going to have a filter anyway, the lead versions are well worth the few extra dollars simply for peace of mind. I was deeply disappointed to learn our local Brita Maxtra filters do very little for water safety or lead, but merely improve the taste. The Pur lead filters actually work out to about the same price, assuming you get free international shipping from Amazon USA. For any other Australians, you can get free international shipping for these Filters from Amazon USA with an Amazon Prime Australia Account for $59 annually. Pur water filters for pitchers do not appear to be available locally.

Good stuff!
Shipping on time, packaging intact. Product is great! My home city has lead water mains in certain neighbourhoods because it is a very old Canadian development. They could no longer use the water additive that protects the water from lead leaching in from the pipes. The city can also not currently afford to dig up all its roads to replace the mains and connections. So, the city opted to supply residents with PUR jugs and filters as a solution as they are the only filters certified to remove lead. I moved into a rental where the previous tenant took the jug with them, and the city was giving me a hard time with determining who was responsible for getting a replacement. In the meantime, I ordered replacements myself so that I did not have to drink lead. Sometimes I cannot believe this is real life. Safe to say, they work! Basically my entire hometown ( which has a total ~110,000 population) has been using these since 2021. Super fast and easy to prep and install. Filters reasonably quick. No funky taste. No lead poisoning. Would recommend!

Excelente para agua a un bebe
Hace justo lo que debe hacer. Lo recomiendo más que los filtros de Brita y excelente para los bebés.
