LilyPadz® Reusable Silicone Nursing Pads Single Pair Regular Size

I never leave reviews, but I’m a first time mom, work retail and just went back to work. I work 9hr days and these have been amazing in between pumping sessions. They reduce so much leakage and I can still wear my cute tops without a bra, to feel like a real person. I’ve been pumping 4-4.5 hrs, since being out of the house, and haven’t had issues. Just minor pooling inside the cup.

These breast pads are amazing because they’re: -reusable, no waste! -very discreet, can’t be seen through your bra or clothing -don’t have to cart around extra breast pads -sanitary! Your nipples don’t sit against wet breast pads or have damp and milky pads in your bra -painless! Your nipples don’t dry against a cloth or cotton pad and then stick to them. While they are designed to stick to your areola, the silicone just slides right off of your nipple. They are lovely because they stick to your breast and are essentially flush to your breast. When applied correctly (applied inside out, nipple directly to the center, press from the center outwards to eliminate as much air as possible, press firmly to adhere) they create a barrier of pressure that prevents leaking. Yes, I have had the issue that someone else mentioned of milk pooling in the small bit of air that gets trapped around my nipple, but for me it’s only on one side because that side has a ferocious letdown. I’ve found that by firmly pressing my arm across my breast during letdown, it prevents the pooling of milk in combination with wearing the lilypadz and prevents leakage. Yes, cleaning and air drying can be one extra step that can seem like a big deal when as a mom your time is already very limited. To get around this I wash them using a gentle body wash, dab the outward side with a clean towel, and set them on the plastic domes. Then I use my clean hand to “squeegee” the remaining water off the exposed sticky side and leave them to finish drying. The squeegee action cuts the drying time significantly; I can put them on in the next 30 secs or less if I wanted to. Another complaint I’ve seen, and that I wish was solved as well, is the issue of not having a case for these. I stumbled upon the perfect case while purchasing a teether that came with a case - the Nuby Step 1 silicone baby teether. It’s a snug fit, but both Lilypadz fit inside with one plastic dome in between. I’ve attached pictures for reference. This is a game changer for me to be able to pack a spare set of pads or to store them. I’m going to buy another one of these teethers ($3.89 at Target) just for the case!! As far as being pricier for one set, they can be used over and over which means they end up being more cost effective than buying boxes of breast pads or having to remember washing cloth ones over and over. To me these are the ultimate breast pads because they’re convenient, sanitary, cost effective and the most efficient at preventing leaks!

I still haven't even HAD my first baby yet, but this product has already been a lifesaver! I started leaking milk when I was about 20 weeks pregnant (mostly at night), and I hated having to sleep in a bra or anything confining. The LilyPadz allowed me to sleep topless or with a light tee-shirt and not have to worry about making a mess of myself or the bed. I've used them during the day when my leaking was heavier, but for the most part, I've used them at night, then wash them in the morning and let them dry during the day. I can also see how they would be EXCELLENT for non-pregnant women who are going braless but want their nipples to remain hidden ;) My only caveats to consumers are the following: - As mentioned in other reviews, when you first get the product and aren't familiar with what they look like, be aware that each pad is on it's own plastic backing (and I believe there is even a third plastic shell somewhere in the mix, too). The pad is the part with the scalloped edges that look like a flower (even after reading everyone else's reviews, I still tried to stick the plastic part on my chest! It didn't work out well). So just look for the flower shaped part! - I did not purchase the special LilyWash, but rather used common dish soap every morning to clean the LilyPadz. After about a month of daily use, the pads became less tacky, and I started needing to wear a snug top to ensure that they stayed on properly throughout the night. After two months of use, the tackiness effectively wore off, and the seal between the pad and my skin started breaking during the night so that I leaked on my clothes. HOWEVER, the product only claims to last for about two months, so I didn't remove any stars for this (I just thought people might want to know that in real life, that claim held up). I can't yet attest to how these work when actively nursing, but when I get pregnant again someday, I'll be sure to have these on hand!

I couldn’t stand wearing a bra to bed when I was nursing, which meant I’d have to sleep on layers of towels to make sure my bed would stay dry. I bought these and they helped a ton most nights, with only occasional leaks usually only because accidentally slept through and hadn’t pumped or fed in a quite a while.

I am breastfeeding my 3rd baby and this was one of the products that I vowed to use if there was ever a 3rd baby. Honestly, I think it works, but it wasn't what I hoped for. I waited until my milk supply had stabilized before using, so about 6 weeks in. My nipples were healed enough from the initial trauma that I could stick the pads on and unstick them... but after a couple of days I just stopped using the Lily Padz. It is annoying to wash them, and then leave them out to air dry. I have a newborn, and I am supposed to hand wash and hover over them while they air dry? I can't help but wince every time I peel them off-- it is a lot like peeling a band-aid off. Does it actually hurt? No. Does it sort of hurt? A little bit. But if it didn't stick it wouldn't work. After the initial month, I really only leak during a letdown when I am nursing the other breast-- it ends up being much more useful to me to press on that nipple with my fingers and this achieves the same effect as Lily Padz, and is a whole lot easier than sticking and unsticking when I am nursing in bed. (A pad on the floor next to the crib to save my sleep, for those who are worried about SIDS.) AND if I did love the product, it really is only supposed to last 1 month according to the instructions because the adhesive will not renew itself indefinitely. Seems like an awfully expensive month.

Cannot recommend this product more to any breastfeeding/pumping mom. I’ve had the same set for just over a year now and I use them daily. Still plenty sticky and work great. NO LEAKS EVER. Some things to note: I use baby shampoo to clean them and pat them dry with a clean bath towel. I only have to clean them once in the morning before I put them on and they last me all day. I work full time now and wear them all day while at work and take them off when I pump at work. I keep one on when I breastfeed my baby to prevent let down on the other side. Remove them at whatever interval your baby is usually feeding. I have them on for about 4 hours at a time and have no leaks ever.

I just had my 4th baby and I have breast fed all of them. With my first child I had never heard of these. When I had my second, I thought I would give them a try...I am so glad I did! These make such a difference in the comfort and well being of my breasts. Before useing them I could not take a shower and have my breasts face the water because the water felt like little knives cutting me. I do not leak milk while I am wearing these. The coolness of the silicone on my nipples is heavenly when they are sore and raw from a baby that wants to nurse constantly. I had one baby that had such a strong latch that I had lost chunks off of my nipple and they cracked and blead. I was given prescription nipple cream and would use these pads to keep it on and off of my bras and clothes. I wash the lily pads with Dove body bar while I shower. I wore one set for 2 babies, so I wore them almost everyday for 2 years. Yes, the sticky side eventually breaks down and wears off...but that really is only necessary if you want them to stay on without a bra on. Also when I purchased a new par with the arrival of my 4th child I did notice my old par was not so clear and more of a flesh tone now. These are on my top 10 list of must haves for having a baby.

I bought these with my first child 5 years ago with high hopes and they gave me a really red rash on my 2nd or 3rd use and I was leaking when I used them so I pitched them. I'm allergic to latex and that's what it looked like even though they're clearly labeled as latex free. My 2nd baby is now 2.5 months and after 6 weeks of wearing disposable pads (worked great but I hated the trash and wasted money) and cloth pads (what a joke for me! Soaked through immediately day and night) and even just stuffing cloth diapers into my shirt at night I bought another set of lilypads thinking it was probably user error the first time. I read every review, watched the product video and such, and tried it. Wasted money again. No rash this time but I have worn them probably 15 times in the last 6 weeks and soaked myself every time. Every single time I use them I get a teaspoon or so of milk in the pad and when I take it off I soak my shirt/pants. Today I popped it off while standing in the bedroom and milk got all over the carpet! I usually have to have a burp cloth or tissues handy when I take it off and only if I'm very lucky do I keep my clothes clean. The worst part is that when I do try to use them at night I (a) wet the sheets and my PJ's when I take it off anyway so I'm still sleeping on a towel and dealing with wet shirts and then (b) what are you supposed to do with it during night nursings? I co-sleep and nurse side-lying so I always take it off with every intention of holding it--or I try to put it on my bedside table--but it almost always gets lost and then it's like trying to find a giant contact lens in my bed. And then it's linty so I have to get up to go wash it so suddenly every feeding I'm up washing and drying and prepping something...I might as well be bottle-feeding! (And this is why I'm writing this review at 1:30 AM) It seems like these are designed to stop leaking once you've already stopped leaking...? I'm so mad at myself for wasting money on another pair of these and jealous of those for whom they do seem to work. Back to disposable pads I suppose.
