How big is the inside opening of the 40" grill?

The inside opening is 18”. It has an “accessory ring” on the inside on which you can mount all the options like the rotisserie, grill grate, riser, etc.

How thick of steel the cone is made of? With all that heat and rust how long the cone should last?

The cone is spun from a single piece of 7 gage Corten steel. No seeams, no welds. Corten steel is designed to be outside for a lifetime.

Where does the ash go and how difficult is it to empty?

The ash accumulates on the bottom plate of the combustion chamber. It is easily scooped out from the top of the grill every few times of use. Takes about 3 minutes to do, super simple and easy!

1)Does this come as 2 pieces, top and base, or is it welded together as a one piece assembly? 2)What is the weight without shipping material?

It comes in three major pieces, the cooktop, the fire cone and the base. Then there are sone smaller pieces like a lifting tool and a coal catcher. The total weight is right at 220 lbs.
