Tegaderm Transparent Dressing, 6 x 8 Inch, 10 Count

I was introduced to this product at an inline skating clinic and found that it worked fantastic before and after a skate for damaged/road abraided skin. Easily cut for customizing I have used or given away over 20- 4x4-3/4 patches to individuals that have had road abrasion accidents in the last month. Large patches have to be changed constantly to remove the built-up lymph fluid and new dressing re-applied. Do not try to cheap out like I did and put a small patch on the vent hole you might create. It will never seal properly and you will take it all up and put a brand new one on. Trust me! Unfortunately, in inline skating - road rash is a normal occurance even with pads on. Great to have in the arsenal of healing gear and it is my last resort for instant pain relief - hopefully I will not have to cover that much area but you never know. Will cut up to smaller sizes as due date of 2014 approaches. Fingers crossed. This product makes it painless to treat road rash and allows you to heal fast. It only took a week to get new skin back on my elbow - hopefully without most visible scars. Ditto for one on the hip. Also works great for cuts and is much cheaper than Elastoplast/Band-Aid versions found in your local pharmacies. Fantastic for young children since the pain goes away almost immediately and the wound heals rapidly in a moist environment. Did I mention the adhesive will not stick to the repairing skin!

I’ve bought this many times to dress a chronic wound. The value is fantastic considering four of the 4x3 cost $18 in our local store. I have cut this product to fit and as long as you keep track of the separating edge it works out fine. No skin damage as compared to traditional medical tape.

Fantastic for burns and scrapes. I bought this when a family member got road rash from a bicycle crash. Then I used it for myself when I got a small second degree burn while cooking. You can put a little bit of neosporin on your wound if you want, then cover everything up with some tegaderm. Gauze is not needed. And you can cut this to whatever size and shape you want. You've probably seen this stuff before. It's often used to hold IV lines in place in the hospital. But it is also great for covering wounds and allowing those wounds to hold in their own moisture as they heal. For me, I got a one-square-inch second degree burn (no blister, but raw and raspberry red) on top of my foot when some boiling water splashed on me. With the tegaderm, I have the confidence that my burn is maintaining moisture and healing. Since the tegaderm is clear, I can see that there's no infection developing. And since it's thin and flexible, I'm able to cover everything with a sock. I can even wear a shoe with it, but a 3-mile walk caused the tegaderm to slip out of place, so I had to reapply a new piece of it. Removal is easy. You know how band-aids really get stuck and can hurt like heck to pull off? That's not a problem here. It peels off very easily with no pain, at least in my case. YMMV. But the point is that this comes off *way* easier than a band-aid. Buy this stuff. You won't regret it.

Had a pretty deep wound from falling from a moving scooter at 15 MPH. My knee was in rough shape but was almost recovered but I didn’t want to risk infection during a lake swim. Took me a few tries to figure out how to adhere this to my skin. But with a combined use of bandages and this product on top, I was able to enter into a lake and not sustain any water seeping through the layer. But I will say I did have to use multiple layers of this product to achieve that result. Still much better than any “waterproof” band aid you will get at Walgreens. Worth the purchase.

Likes: perfect for nephrostomy tubes. easy to put on (with help) but easy to remove by yourself; Keeps the wound clean; smooth finish on the outside so close don't catch on it. In other words, it's not sticky on the outside. It does a fair job keeping water out. Not intended to take showers with! Dislikes: there's really not much wrong with this product; very difficult to put on by yourself (not the product's fault); if any part comes off of the skin, it will completely lose its adhesion, so don't pick on it! (I did not have a problem with it coming off accidentally). Not as waterproof as one might think. It will protect from outside moisture but not designed to run a shower head or swim with.

This is by far the best type of bandage to use. Purchasing these sheets gives you so much flexibility to address different size wounds. Wounds heal so much faster when using tegaderm than they do with a band aid or nothing at all.

This is the best adhesive bandage I have been able to find. I got a second degree burn on my leg that was much too large for any band-aid. I needed to adhere non-stick pads to my thigh so the burn could stay protected. I tried cloth tape, athletic tape, and pre-wrap and athletic tape, all of which peeled off or scrunched up. I purchased this product at the recommendation of my doctor and was blown away by how well it adheres without sacrificing comfort. I would wear the film with non-stick pads underneath for up to 24 hours consecutively. Through showering, vigorous rock climbing, sleeping, and even wearing pants, the Tegaderm did not peel or fall off once, nor was it ever uncomfortable. The price may seem high, but it's absolutely worth it. When I put on the film I knew I could count on one piece lasting me more than 24 hours, if necessary. I never had to reapply and I could continue moving about normally without worrying about whether my bandaging would stay. This product made my recovery much less of a hassle. After wearing it for two weeks consecutively I did get a very slight rash around the sticky edge, likely just from dry skin and irritation. It was very mild and didn't bother me. Application is easy. All you do is peel the big sheet off the sticky side and press it on. Then you peel the separate edge paper off the top, making sure that the edge is completely sealed against your skin. After that you can peel off the bigger center paper. It really feels like a second skin and I highly recommend it for anyone with a large wound or a wound in a tough-to-cover area.

The product is good in size and quality, bought 1 the first time and 2 the second time, and will definitely buy again.

Great for protecting my tattoos! After a lot of research I decided to change the bandage my tattoo artist had put on my new tattoo. I did this after 2 days, and then kept the Tegaderm on for another 5 days. It protected the tattoo from being accidentally scratched, and kept out dust and dirt. I removed it by carefully applying hot water and peeling it off from the top corner parallel. My tattoo hardly had any flaking and while it did transfer the top layer of the tattoo to the tegaderm (which is normal), none of the actual pigment was removed and my tattoo looks beautiful and bright. You will need assistance putting it on if you have your tattoo on your arms/back etc. The tegaderm needs to lay flat or you risk aribubbles.
