A Needed Item For Any Needlework
I read several comments before I purchased my new line magnifier. Many said that the magnets were weak. After getting my line magnifier, I came to the conclusion that many people want something that will hold more paper than what this particular item is designed for. If the magnet is too strong, then it cannot be easily moved to the next line on the page and that actually defeats the purpose. Moveability is important as I use the line magnifier when doing any kind of needlework where I need to pay close attention to the stitch instructions. I took a picture of the LoRan line magnifier that I bought over 30 years ago and the new shorter one side by side. Both have the same magnet strength, and the new one does what the old one does just as well. Having the two sizes is a plus for me as some of my patterns are at least two pages in width. The other thing that I want to point out is that I did a paper test and both line magnifiers will hold up to five sheets of regular 20-pound copy paper. Rarely do I have that much stacked, but I have had up to three pages stacked as I need to look at some sheets constantly as I work. A suggestion that I have found to be important for maintaining this magnifier is to put it in a cloth bag or wrap it up so that it does not get scratched. My older one looks almost as good as the day I bought it over 30 years ago. I would definitely recommend this product if you do a lot of needlework like I do. Nothing worse than to think you are doing one line of stitches only to find out you did another by accident. Been there done that. 😬

Red line helps focus on specific info and no distortion with magnification
I have tried a few other line magnifiers and this one is the best. I use it with my knitting patterns. The patterns are often in very small print. The red line helps focus my attention on my current place in the pattern, and there's no distortion of magnification that I've found with other line magnifiers. I use this magnifier with a non-metal base, but it has magnets and should work fine with a magnetic board.

Good Quality & Price, Perfect Size for my Cross-stitch Projects.
Purchased for cross-stitching. Size is just right. Didn’t realize there were Magnets on back of the magnifier itself—but I suppose those would be useful for those that have/utilize a magnetic board for their projects. Other than that surprise, this was just what I was looking for. Not too bulky or heavy...it’s portable, compact and still an excellent quality/well-made tool.

Okay
Ok, just wish it was little bit longer. Also, slips sometimes.

Magnifies and Keeps You on Track
This works really well with the LoRan magnetic board. I love that it magnifies, you can see several rows whether I'm using the graph or the word chart. I'm a peyote beadweaver, but it also works very well on other beading projects
