Best Camera I ever owned
I usually don't write reviews but I was compelled to write this one as a benefit to other Dash Cam Shoppers since it's hard to choose a dash cam when you have so many choices. I've own several dash cams and for the first time I felt I bought quality product. I have to say that this is my first ROVE Cam. I'll start with the detail in the documentation included and the packaging itself. Amazing detail that I never seen before. An actual manual with detail pictures, something that most Dash Cams lack. I know they strongly suggest buying there memory and their kits, but even so, I think it's worth the cost if you're going to enjoy a good product. I just finished installing the CAM in my car and had the chance to tested on the road. Let me start with the APP. I love that finally I have an app that bears the name of the actual CAM as opposed to a generic app that is not specific to the app. The speed in downloading clips to your phone are amazingly fast and easy. Moving on to the packaging, they include everything you would need to install, including the electrostatic films, additional adhesives, support clips, and a car strip install tool. Also, the fact that you can install the cam using either the suction cup or using the stronger bond with the sticky mount. Based on pass experience with suction cups, they eventually fall off. The sticky mount is the way to go. One thing I wish the manufacturer would improve is, that when you use the sticky mount, you would have the flexibility to angle the ROVE screen to a more desireabale angle (mostly a 90 degree angle facing the cabin). Right now when you install the CAM with the sticky mount, you will have to live with the angle of the screen based on the windshield location. It is not adjustable. I also love the touch screen. This is a big improvement over other cams that just have buttons. A Touch screen is such the the way to go. The picture quality is just stunning. Even the 1080p footage. There are tons off other good things I could say about this product, including the support that they have for the product, which I haven't had to use thankfully, but I would just say that I am very happy I did my research on the ROVE CAM and now that I am an owner of one of these I, I am a very happy customer.

Fantastic dashcam and fee so good to have something recording all the time.
Got the hardwire kit along with the R3. That allows for parking mode to be enabled. Which is something I need as our last car seemed to be a magnet for people hitting our car in a parking lot. Now we'll have proof and something to use to find people if they hit our Volvo XC60. Once the hardwire kit was installed (less than an hour) I put in the dashcam. Paired it with the software and it needed a firmware update. Highly suggest you do this before installing in the car. The firmware update lost all the settings I had setup and needed to reformat the SD card. Even the SSID of the WiFi changed after the firmware update. Drove around the neighborhood and saw I had to rotate the rear camera 180. That fixed that problem. Downloaded videos and at 1 min a piece it still takes a while to get the video over the 5GHz WiFi. But the video quality of all 3 cameras is excellent. Each cam saves the video to a different subdirectory aptly named Front, Cabin and Rear. Works great with my Android Pixel 7 Pro and the Rove app. Remember to use the popup Android presents because the WiFi has no internet connection you still want to remain connected to the WiFi. The front/cabin cam is on the suction cup that works REALLY well. I like that I can adjust the angle of the camera with the suction cup. Not sure that will work too well with the sticky tape. The rear camera I applied the electrostatic sheet to the rear windshield and stuck the camera to that. So far holding up just fine. For those of you concerned with privacy there is ZERO CLOUD STORAGE of videos. They stay on the SD card until you download them to your phone. Then you can copy them to the cloud if necessary. I leave the WiFi on the dashcam turned off until I need to download. I have been wanting a dashcam now for a long time. This with the parking monitoring by having the hardwire kit is worth its weight in gold. I did use the Rove 512G SD card. While pricey it was worth the hassle free installation. The front cam lens filter can be had for less as someone else pointed out and it holds on fairly tightly for a friction fit lens.

Good quality, easy to install, hardwire kit is highly recommended, too. Rove is respectful company.
I am quite satisfied with the purchase of this camera. The set came with 3 cameras that cover the front, where the wide-angle lens format manages to cover the frontal scene more broadly. Another camera covers the interior of the vehicle, good for those who work as Uber drivers, but which can also capture through the rear windows and, if in that case it is too insufficient, there is a rear camera to be positioned just above the license plate, but inside the vehicle, which will serve to cover almost the entire rear. In addition to the camera set, I also recommend buying the hardwire kit, as this allows the wires to be hidden and do not need to be connected to the USB port, as it is plugged directly into the fuse box, leaving the car more organized, safe, elegant and with more features by allowing you to activate parking mode, which keeps the cameras on even when turned off and parked, increasing surveillance and peace of mind. I've been using this set for over a year and never had any problems, except for the occasional request to format the memory card, even though it hasn't been replaced or completely filled, but that was never a problem. However, one day I noticed that the screen wasn't working. I removed and tested every part—the wires, connections, cables, connectors, everything—but I couldn't get the screen to work anymore; it was completely blank, no LEDs or sign of life. I thought, I guess the camera is no longer under warranty. But even so, I decided to contact support explaining my case, and I quickly received a response. They promptly helped me identify the problem, which is only in the front and cabin camera/screen unit. They asked me to send it for evaluation, which I did as soon as I could. As soon as I sent it, they didn't even wait for it to arrive and sent me a new unit, without charging me anything for it. I received the camera in a few days, and it worked immediately when I turned it on. I was very happy with their commitment and respect for the customer. They deserve my respect for putting the customer first!

Great Cameras and Customer Service
After a friend recommended the Rove R3 based on their reliability in fire department command vehicles, we purchased units for both our cars. The video quality is excellent, and while the menus have a slight learning curve, they are very intuitive once you get the hang of them. I opted for the hardwire installation kit to enable 24/7 parking protection, paired with the recommended Rove 256GB SD cards for seamless loop recording. We did encounter a minor recording issue, but Rove’s customer service was exceptional—responsive, professional, and stayed with us until it was resolved. A quick note for those concerned with privacy: we keep the audio off and the interior lens covered, though those features would be invaluable for rideshare drivers. This is a 5-star product I’d recommend for personal, work, or emergency use.

Almost perfect Dash Cam
I like the Rove R3 Dash Cam. It performs well and has been mostly reliable. Installation was a bit tedious to route the wires and install the hardwiring kit for the parking mode, but was not complicated. I used the suction mount which works well in my installation to allow for proper placement of the front/inside camera / main control unit housing. The only issues have been with the WiFi connection since my Silverado has an active WiFi hot spot. Connecting to the Rove R3 via WiFi takes some juggling and disconnecting from the vehicle hot spot, avoiding automatic connection issues with nearby WiFi sources and patience. It works but is always a 5 minute ordeal to get it connected. So, I usually don't bother with using the WiFi except to download a video clip to my phone. it I also found that there are inconsistencies between the configuration screens in the App and when done directly on the R3 screen. For example, 50Hz and 60Hz A/C selection is inverted between the app and directly on the R3 screen. There are a few others snafus and unresponsive choices in the app, so I just configured everything directly on the R3 screen. All good and easy. . . The other features of the app work ok. The parking mode has some issues. My Silverado 3500 HD has heavy doors and even closing the door gently often triggers a parking event when exiting the vehicle. So each time the door is shut, except with a very low sensitivity setting an event warning is often triggered. The least sensitive settings avoids the issue, but a very forceful impact / collision would be needed to trigger a parking event. So that would be worthless to me. This needs refinement by Rove. It is annoying every time I return to the vehicle since I need to press the tiny onscreen acknowledgement icon on the screen. Did my door closing cause the event or was it a real damage incident?? A simple programming fix would be to incorporate a 30-45 second delay before the parking mode is activated when the ignition is turned off. This would allow one to exit the vehicle and close the door. Simple concept. A delay option could be provided in the set-up screens. Otherwise, I'm pleased with the Rove R3 and I've trained myself to very gingerly close my door upon exiting. My wife and grandkids are not receptive to this concept of very softly closing the doors. So this only partially resolves the issue when I drive alone and can bio-regulate the force of the door closing situation. Did I make this point clearly enough that this is very annoying and distracts from the utility and quality of the product.. One star penalty.

Update - first one was defective, second one works great!
I contacted Rove and it was determined my first camera was defective. Since I bought two, I was able to switch out the camera and the other camera works perfectly. Video quality is great so far, I haven't tested enough at night to see how that is yet. Customer service is fantastic :) Camera seems nice, installation was easy, when it works the video quality is good. I put the camera in my car, powered it on, and struggled with the WiFi to connect to my phone even though the devices were inches apart. It kept connecting and then the WiFi signal was too weak and it would disconnect. Like I said they were inches apart. Formatted the SD card. Updated the firmware successfully but was afraid it would disconnect in the middle but it was okay. Camera worked normally that day. Yesterday when I was driving to work the camera completely froze and was unresponsive. The power button wouldn’t turn it off. One the way home it worked when I started the car, again it froze on the way home. Went to a store, camera came back on when I started the car and worked the rest of the drive home. Today on the way to work it froze again. I pulled over and turned the car off because the camera wouldn’t turn off. After 5 minutes I turned the car back on and the camera didn’t power on, the power button doesn’t turn it on. All of the connections are connected securely and the power is plugged in with the supplied adapter. So, I am expecting I will be returning it tomorrow. I am really fed up with this camera, and I bought one for a gift for my husband but I am not installing another one with the way this one has performed. So, both will be going back. I would not recommend this camera to a friend or purchase it again. I bought it because of all of the fantastic R2 reviews.

Not working, Rove is not helpful, past return window, horrible purchase experience!
One of my worst purchases ever! I bought the cam on sale, on Amazon, but didn’t get a chance to test it out until after the 30-day return window closed. Turns out the rear cam is either not working or not being recognized by the front unit. Either way, I’m getting no signal/video from the rear camera, even though the installation is correct, and confirmed by Rove. Contacted Amazon about a return, they informed me the return window is already closed (but did offer a discounted refund, I may have to take them up on it). Amazon even called Rove support on my behalf, but, so far, that has not resolved anything. After about 25+ hours of troubleshooting, both on my own and with Rove customer support, it’s still not working, and Rove has now, seemingly, ghosted me. I can only reach rove by text or email, they have no phone support! 42 back-and-forth texts so far (and counting) with Rove customer ‘support’, and a video I had to upload showing the unit NOT working (but correctly installed), I’ve tried everything they asked, and more. Rove finally said they would send me a replacement rear cam. I supplied my information on 9/19/24 (had to supply it twice, apparently different agents don’t pass the info along to the next agent), but, as of 9/25/24, six days later, I still haven’t heard anything more. I texted them again yesterday asking them to confirm if the replacement rear cam has been shipped, no response. The item is simply is not functional, new and out-of-the-box, support was initially responsive, though inept, and I’ve fiddled with the cam unit and support for more than 20 hours now, so much for ‘plug-and-play’! The camera promises a lot, but that’s just hype, just another case of technology that isn’t working, and never should have been released. My warning to other buyers, avoid Rove products! If you buy it anyway, be sure to thoroughly test it out before the 30-day return window closes. Another problem, the Rove app doesn’t recognize my R3 cam unit. The R3 creates its own WiFi network (no internet). I must disconnect my Android Auto WiFi to connect to the Rove WiFi (Rove confirms they will conflict). So, after turning off Android Auto and turning on the R3 WiFi, both my Android phone and the R3 unit confirm that I am connected to the R3 by WiFi. However, the Rove app fails to ‘locate’ the R3 unit to connect the app, even though my phone is only a foot from the cam, and the WiFi connection is confirmed by both my phone and the cam. I keep bringing it up with Rove tech support and they never address the app failure in their text responses. So, the app is as useless as the dashcam. I’ve also repeatedly asked Rove to pick up a phone and call me, eventually someone said they would, but nothing, no call, just more unhelpful and inane texts (try this, try that, then, when they ran out of ideas, nothing, crickets). So, a promise to call me was BS, and promise to send me a replacement rear cam is, so far, more BS, and then I stopped getting responses from Rove. Finally, on 9/25, they said they’d ship a replacement rear cam and gave me a tracking number, but as of 10/2, it hasn’t shipped. I’ll likely accept Amazon’s generous offer to return it at a substantial discount, if still available, because it’s useless as is, and as useless as Rove customer support seems to be. I’m replacing a outdated Rexing front/rear dashcam that I liked very much, but wanted more updated cameras and features. So, the Rexing brand may be a good alternative to consider. In the words of the prescient Douglas Adams, technology is stuff that doesn’t work yet. That’s certainly been my experience with the Rove R3 dashcam! IF you do buy a Rove product, be prepared for HOURS of frustration…before you end up returning it to Amazon.

Nice Dash camera. Make sure to update firmware
The amount of Dash cameras on the market is just mind numbing. I selected this camera based on other reviews and it's been a great choice thus far. I liked the fact GPS and speed are recorded on the video. You can remove this if not wanted. I Recommend downloading and using the app. You can setup almost everything from the front touch panel, but It's much more convenient for me via the app. You must create an account with Rove to use the app. To review recorded videos you will need the phone app or remove the microSD card and play on a computer. There is no way to play recorded videos from the touch screen. When you get the unit make sure to upgrade the firmware. There are some annoying bugs out of the box. A few bugs were... 1) Cabin audio record would always record your audio regardless of setting. 2) If you needed your rear camera inverted 180 degrees, software would flip it back to non inverted going in and out of parking mode. software never checked what the user selected. I wrote a quick email to Rove Innotech with my findings not really expecting a response back. To my amazement Aman (R&D Manager) wrote back within a day addressing all my issues. He provided a new firmware to try R3-8-30-22 which fixed all the issues. This was great feedback. According to Rove they are accepting bug reports and actively working on firmware updates. Two ways to update firmware. 1) Connect to R3 via built in wifi with your phone and their app. 2) If trying a beta version, format microSD card, remove from device and plug into your computer. Copy over the file give by tech support onto microSD. Unplug R3 from power and insert microSD. Plug R3 into constant 5v USB power and boot. R3 will see this file and automatically update. Rove will provide help as needed. One draw back is rear camera is not waterproof and should be mounted inside. I did some waterproofing of mine and mounted as a test just above the rear license place. 1080P looks great. The camera turns on for 1minutes (time selectable) when vehicle is started. If the rear camera is selected it also doubles as a backup camera. The front facing camera is 2K 1440P. This give enough resolution to see whats going on in front of the vehicle. You can read license plates in the day from maybe 30ft away. I have the cabin video disabled, but this would be great for a uber, taxi or company vehicle. My expectation was not to read a license plate from 100ft away, it's an inside mounted dash camera have to be reasonable in expectation. Would be neat if they added a external waterproof front and rear camera option. Mounting the camera on the front grill would remove windshield glare and allow much better visibility. Motorcycle camera systems are designed like this. At night it does a fair job for what it is. This is not a $1000 CCD imager with huge dynamic range. I did purchase the external power module to allow parking mode. At this price not sure why this was not included. I had to order a replacement module as the one I ordered failed out of the box. The DC module is really just two 12v to 5v converters. One red wire connects to a constant 12v source which always provides 5v to red wire going up the USB C cable. Yellow wire connects to an 12v accessory circuit which is only powered when vehicle key is turned or running. This feeds a second 12v to 5v converter which feeds the yellow wire into the USB C cable. I made up my own cable as a temp solution which worked fine for a few days until a replacement arrived. Their module has a low voltage disconnect circuit which is a must to prevent running vehicle battery down. So far the vehicle has sat for three days without any low voltage issues. Started right up. Will report back if any issues.

Easy to install, easy to use
Great next gen dash camera. I like that it has the cabin and rear cameras. I also like that I can turn those off if I want. The GPS system is quick to start up and get into sync with the satellites; unlike my previous GPS enabled dash cams that took up to 2-3 minutes or more. I can use up to a 512GB memory card so I am good to go for about 24-30 hours or more depending on if I use all three cameras. The kit has everything you need to get started including a plastic pry-bar. The added bonus was the inclusion of window mounting film so that the cameras aren't stuck directly onto your windows. This made for easy adjustments on the fly - especially on the rear mounted system. I also like the new user interface with the touch screen, it makes for in flight changes much easier and faster. As this is still a new-ish purchase, I will update in another month or so. The system records into three main folders and also has a 'protected' system to prevent the system from overwriting if you have it set to auto-loop. This makes it really easy to locate video files. Video quality for all three video streams is good (2K front, 1080p internal and 1080p rear). My only asks for Rove should they opt to make an R4 dash cam system is to merge the R2-4K and R3 into a dash cam with a 4K front camera with 2K rear and 1080P cabin cameras. I'd also like to have multiple memory card slots or support for memory sizes beyond 512GB. If you are interested in a new dash cam and want superb build quality, excellent features and good support, this is a very good candidate.

Very promising so far but worried about how hot it gets.
I have this camera for 3 days now and Spot on performance. Nothing but goodness. Maybe too early for the review but the guys at rove deserves the recognition. 1 thing bothers me is how hot it gets when its operational. Its really like hot hot hot. Having an experience of the power connector getting really loose and eventually breaking bec of heat... My settings are in 1440 1080 1080 and wifi is always on. Ill try disabling wifi for now. I live in the uae and it gets really hot in here. But a dashcam i believe is suppose to handle this kind of heat by design. Ill be back in this review to give that 1 more star if it stays ok in the longer run. 02 02 2026 - update after years of use. The camera has lasted no problems till now which is a very good thing. Now we go to the bad thing. The app is so bad. Connecting to the dashcam through wifi is very horrible. Wifi connects but app wont detect even tho its connected. It will tale alot of time of connecting disconnecting etc etc etc. I was in a small accident and everyone waited before i can put the video out because of it and it puts you in alot of stress. If you use your files on the dashcam frequently then i will not recommend this product all.

Good camera but no parking monitor
I had the R2-4K pro, I specifically ordered this as it is advertised with the 24hr parking mode and had the interior cam too. It does have a 24 hr parking mode but only if you buy and install a separate hardwired component. With a car under warranty, I was told by the manufacturer that installing this component would likely void the warranty (in so far as electrical damage is concerned). So the 24 hr parking mode is useless to me. This should be made more clear in the purchase description. Otherwise does what it needs to do.
