Lady Susan and Other Works by Jane Austen This collection brings together Jane Austen's earliest experiments in the art of fiction and novels that she left incomplete at the time of her premature death in 1817. Her fragmentary juvenilia show Austen developing her own sense of narrative form whilst parodying popular kinds of fiction of her day. Lady Susan is a wickedly funny epistolary novel about a captivating but unscrupulous widow seeking to snare husbands for her daughter and herself. The Watson's explores themes of family relationships, the marriage market, and attitudes to rank, which became the hallmarks of her major novels. In Sanditon, Austen exercises her acute powers of social observation in the setting of a newly fashionable seaside resort. These novels are here joined by shorter fictions that survive in Austen's manuscripts, including critically acclaimed works like Catharine, Love and Freindship [sic], and The History of England. Review: I love Jane Austen - I love Jane Austen. These are early attempts and unfinished novels but well worth reading. I only wished she had lived long and written more complete novels. She had a gift for telling a story and making each character come alive with their own unique personality and characteristics. She must have been a great observer of people and their interactions with each other. Review: Delightful Epistolaary Novella - I saw the movie and wanted to read Jane Austen's words in this epistolary novella. It is very clever and a delight to read, full of wit and acerbic observations. It is a quick read.

Great addition to JA collection
For Austen enthusiasts who want to read her lesser known works. Sanditon and Lady Susan were my personal favorites but it also provided great insight into Jane's young mind with the collection of juvenilia.

Nice edition, good price.
This edition is gorgeous and worth every cent if you're an Austen fan who has to have all her works. Lady Susan is especially fun- she's the woman every girl fears and what's more- fears to leave near her husband, brother, father, and son.

Happy but different edition
My sincere apologies the book that arrived does include Lady Susan but I was confused as it has a different cover to one pictured. Thanks for your understanding

Truly Worthy of Jane Austen!
It contains many unfinished and shorter works of Jane Austen. It is exactly as it appears in the preview, no surprises there. Arrived in perfect condition, the sellers were careful about that. However, there is a problem with all Wordsworth Classics Edition, the front cover page is too fragile. Even you holding it lightly will leave fold marks on the leaf.

A great surprise for me
This is my first expirience with Jane Austen, and I am surprised at both her critical view of her surrounding, as well as her wit. I especially liked "Lady Susan" , but every novella is a masterpiece. I have to add that I am Austrian, ad my mother language is German - but nevertheless, it is an easy read.
