A wonderful integration of Panksepp, Schore, Siegel, Porges, Ego State, Somatic, EMDR, etc
A wonderful integration of Panksepp, Schore, Dan Siegel, Porges, Ego State, Somatic, EMDR protocol and additional insights for treatment of early trauma and dissociation. Concepts are wonderfully accessible through Paulsen's cartoons and drawings. The illustrated Pankseppian levels of affective processing (created in collaboration with Panksepp himself!) and comparison between his and Schore's perspectives are worth the price of the book.

Well worth waiting for!
I was thrilled to read this long-awaited jem! This protocol for healing very early trauma is such a powerful addition to the EMDR therapy toolkit, and having the book makes it possible for more people to confidently and proficiently help clients in this essential way.Sandra is a masterful writer, thoroughly presenting details and angles to preclude unanswered questions. She includes the scientific basis for the protocol in an understandable way and gives clear explanations of all of the phases and steps, with illustrations and case studies.I greatly appreciate how fully Sandra explains adaptations to make the protocol effective with even the most complex and highly dissociative clients. Her expertise in working with this population comes shining through.I can't imagine a more valuable addition to the field of trauma therapy and I recommend that every EMDR therapist read it!

One of the Best
As far as EMDR and complex trauma/attachment wounds go, these books can’t be beat. Although the drawings appear somewhat archaic, the author is one of the best in the field. She’s always recommended at the EMDR conferences I attend for those of us who don’t get the “unicorn” clients and need some support.

Great Companion for Trained EMDR Therapists
Easy to read with bullet points format. A great companion for trained EMDR therapists. Highly effective protocol. Not for clients, though, because the book focuses more on what to do in session, rather than the brain impacts from emotional neglect and later symptoms. For clients, The Body Keeps the Score is more digestible.

A must for mental health professionals
This book is absolutely necessary and should be made required reading by all mental health professionals. Simple, effective, yet profound — which only occurs when the writer has profound knowledge on a subject.

For any therapist who's doing early trauma work this book is thorough and in depth yet very easy to grasp the concepts. Is an excellent adjunct resource to Sandra's workshops that teach how to clear early trauma.
