Highly Recommended
Works very well. Fits on the top of the can and cuts the side under the lip. Results in safer can lid to handle. Has a little gripper beak you can use to grab the cut lid. Seems like good quality and not too hard to turn. Recommended!

The best can opener I've ever used.
Great product, a little awkward to use at first, but easy to master. No sharp lids, good quality, and seems rust resistant.

Favorite can opener
This can opener is a replacement for one that I gave to a friend. The can opener is easy to use and works extremely well. The best part is that it makes a smooth can cut that does not risk cutting anyone when touching the lid or the can. The safety aspect is super valuable on its own. The grip is good and is not too small or too big and it has been great for me for years now. I actually think its more durable than my KitchenAid can opener that no longer works! Also, if you like red, its a very nice shade. :)

Worth every penny. This is the best can opener I have ever used and can’t recommend it enough.
After spending a lot of money on many can openers that would just bend, skip, and not work this was the first one to work perfectly. This can opener works on all of our cans no matter the size. It worked so well the first time that we thought we were using it wrong. When we were first testing the can opener we went around the can once but weren’t sure if it actually opened. So my I went around again and still weren’t sure it actually opened so just to try it we used the “claw” to grip the lid and it just popped right off. So we tried another can but this time we only went around once to see if we just didn’t know the first can was opened the first pass. The second can after just one rotation easily peeled off with no effort at all. When you use the cutter it leaves the can lid barely attached but also somewhat still sealed. The little claw grabber always you to easily grab the lip of a can and like a sticker peel off the lid leaving little to no sharp burr on both the can or lid. The grip is comfortable along with the turn handle. We have opened about a hundred cans at this point and this can opener is still sharp and performs just as good as the day we bought it. Overall this product is very well designed and durable and most importantly just works exactly like you would expect a can opener to work.

Not quite the lord of can openers.
It looks nice. It does open cans splendidly. Its one handed self clamping wheels are rather ingenious. And it can be used equally easily right or left handed. But there are two things I consider flaws. One minor, the other major. And they may not be issues for everyone, but they are for me. 1) The mechanical housing is not watertight. When I got the can opener, the first thing I did was hand wash it with warm soapy water per the packaging instructions. While I have heard this can opener is dishwasher safe, the packaging does not say so. As a bit of a clean freak, I intend to put it in the dishwasher for sanitization if there is any doubt in my mind about its cleanliness. The quick minute wash I gave it resulted in about a tablespoon of water inside the can opener's mechanical housing. I shook the can opener, vigorously and strategically, to drive as much water as I could back out, but I do not want to do this every time I wash it. And ignoring it will result in a bacterial breeding ground inside the can opener. I consider this a major design flaw, but for those who never wash their can openers, it will be a non issue. 2) This can opener does not have a bottle opener. After searching the reviews on amazon and the questions section, and seeing nothing on the subject, I resorted to surmising that the metallic dock-tie-down-looking protrusion on the left is a bottle opener. I was wrong. This is a button for clamping the built in pliers on the right. While I think it is absurd to have those tiny pliers on a can opener, it seems fashionable as many competing tools have them as well. Still, it is more absurd that no safety can opener seems to have a bottle opener on it! If you have another can opener, or a separate bottle opener, than this will again be a non issue. But to me it is ridiculous. Lastly, the can opener feels sturdily built except for the plier closing button, which is slightly loose and rattles in its socket. And the handle, though thoughtfully designed, is a little short. I do not have massive hands, but if I press my wrapped fingers forward to the finger guard, my hand still hangs an inch off the back. Not a big deal, but something worth noting if you have very large hands. Overall, a fine can opener with a few problems, be they major or minor, that keep it from being perfect.

The Very Best Can Opener
Lost my 30+ yo Kuhn Rikon can opener in a house fire and very happy to find a replacement. Just as durable and well made. Slightly different design, but easy to use. Removes the lid along the seal without cutting the can. I love the pinchers for grabbing the lid. Never have to touch one. Just open a can, grab the lid with the pinchers, rinse it off when recycling, and drop it in the garbage. If I'm doing a lot of cooking and have multiple cans, I'll remove and rinse the lids, then pop them all inside their rinsed cans before recycling. Either way, this is the best can opener. Beats any hand held or electric opener for ease of use and cleanup. Occasionally, I will need to rinse it off, but it stays clean for the most part. I've acquired arthritis since receiving my original, and still prefer a Kuhn Rikon to anything else.

Sweet Can Opener! Instructions in Review
OK, so this is a splurge item, but it's neat. It looks awesome, it works well, and it's very clean. re-closeable cans are so useful! I use this opener all the time and I love it. My one complaint is that finding instructions are very difficult if you can't watch the flash animation on the company's website. So for all the people trying to figure out how to use the Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Lid Lifter can opener, here goes: First, adjust the turnable handle to be parallel to the big handle. Then place the unit on top of the can, not alongside like a traditional opener. Position the Lid Lifter so that the rim of the can is right underneath the two protruding metal bits underneath the turnable handle. I don't mean the pincer thing on the right side of the opener - rather, I'm referring to the two protruding bits on the metal underside. One cuts and the other is round magnet or roller of some sort. Looking down, get it so that the edges of the can's round top are roughly even with the two little half-circle shaped divots in the main body of the opener. Those divots are specially placed to make this easy. Then once the opener is set on top of the can, with the handle pointing straight out perpendicular to the can and parallel to the counter and the divots lined up with the lid, start turning clockwise. You'll feel the little metal cutting bits engage on the top of the can. Keep turning, holding the opener parallel to the counter top the whole way. You won't be able to see a thing happening, but when you complete the can, you'll feel the turning resistance reduce. That's because you've cut the whole top off, even though you can't tell! Now turn the handle counter-clockwise, just a little bit (maybe a quarter turn) and that will disengage the cutting bits, allowing you to remove the opener. To open the lid the first time, you turn the opener on it side and use the little metal pincer to grab the edge of the can lid. Push the white plastic button opposite the pincers, grabbing the lid, and lift 'er up. Voila - the lid comes off! It takes a *little* force sometimes if the seal is still vacuum tight. You can use the can opener every time, but after the first time, it's easier to remove the lid with your fingers. It sounds WAY harder than it is, but it is honestly something you have to learn. I was seriously stumped, as was my roommate, until I figured out how to view the demo online. Now start saving time and money by buying the big cans of tomatoes and beans and then saving the leftovers right in the nicely sealed can! The designer gets an A+ on this model. Added bonus: blow your friends minds by asking them to figure out how to open a can. I swear, without instructions, it's really tricky! With instructions, it's really easy!

Best can opener ever
I have purchased many can openers over the years and ever single one has either stopped working or just broken completely. This is by far the best, easiest, safest can opener I have ever had. It's super easy to use, even with my arthritic hands. You just place it on the can edge and turn. It has little teeth to pick the can lid up once it's opened. The edge of the can and lid are completely smooth, no sharp edges anywhere. And when you're done you can put the lid right back on the can as a top! I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you have trouble with your hands.

Can Opener
This isn't just any can opener its a Kuhn Rikon can opener, which means it doesn't open a can as normal it peels the lid of the way it was put on, meaning that there are no sharp edges, sort of, there are still sharp edges but not that you can cut yourself by accident, its as easy to use as a normal can opener but I get the feeling that this one will actually last for years and that the "teeth" that grip the lid will not wear away and make it slip. All that said I would recommend it to family and friends

Great can opener!
Does exactly what it says. Easy to use, cuts through every can nicely, picks up the lid and leaves no sharp edges.

Best tin opener there is.
Been through too many cheap tin opener's to count. This has lasted ages and has no signs of degradation to the action. Opens tins easily and leaves no sharp edge which is a nice touch. Very easy to use and action is very smooth. I’d say I would buy again, but I’m not sure I’ll need to with how well it works.
