Q: what cause these things to move other than buoyancy ?

Just the buoyancy in combination with the plastic wings makes it move. Wings can be adjusted to make it turn or go straight. It travels farther the deeper you start it. It will travel up the side of a pool and pop out of the water if it runs into a wall. We took it to Florida on vacation and it was quite popular around the pool! It’s really pretty cool! Even adults were having a good time with it!

Q: Would you recommend the small or large Stingrays for a 4 and 6 year old?

We bought the large for our, at the time 3 year old now 6, and are pleased with it thus far and would recommend. I cannot comment on the small on how well it works versus the large. The only advise I’d give is to make sure your kids are not too close to the toy when it comes out of the water. Our large stingray either had a design flaw or something but the only way it would glide in greater distances is to flip it over and have the belly facing up. When we let it go what you would think is the right way, the stingray would shoot to the top of the water and leap out. Luckily this has not happened to our son but the wings are plastic and could do damage if your child was too close and the wing cuts their cheek or even eye. Also note that once it hits the wall of the pool it will make its way to the top and also leap out of the water. Which is why I caution any child to be too close to it to not experience any injury.

Yes! It always comes up. You just have to keep an eye on it. Of course, the fun is the farther it goes!

Q: What is the stingray material? I’m looking for a dog pool toy

It’s very flimsy. Your dog will tear through this in seconds.
