When Colette Baron-Reid first began doing professional readings almost 30 years ago, she used the traditional tarot as a source of intuitive guidance. Now she has taken the classical form and given it a modern twist, with suits and meanings that are focused on transformation and personal growth. Grounded in a divination system that dates back centuries, The Good Tarot has a psychic architecture that's more simple and modern, rooted in contemporary positive psychology and aimed at the expression of the highest good for all. The 78 cards in the deck are read as archetypal aspects of the human experience that we may encounter within ourselves, with others, or in the world. The suits in The Good Tarot are the four elements, with Air standing in for the traditional Swords, Water replacing Cups, Earth for Pentacles, and for Wands, Fire. A crucial difference from traditional decks is that the cards' messages are all written as positive affirmations in the present tense, rather than forecasts, instructions, or warnings. Those who use the cards in the suggested way can integrate their energy immediately and personally. Even so, traditional tarot enthusiasts can still apply their favorite spreads to this deck as its formation doesn't stray too far from what is already familiar, and the breathtaking original artwork will be sure to inspire. "Everyone wants guidance during times of uncertainty, a light shining in the dark," Colette writes. "The Good Tarotis especially helpful when you feel lost, want confirmation about a direction you're heading in, are concerned about the results of choices you've made, or seek greater understanding of your circumstances. It's about recognizing the many forms of truth and seeing the light that accompanies the shadow so you can help the light increase its brilliance." Review: The Additional Layer To Step Up & Out - I originally choose to purchase this deck for the beautiful art and imagery. I find it stunningly appealing, and most importantly - it speaks to me. What I appreciate about this deck is the unique approach Colette conveys within the guide book; she provides the ADDITIONAL LAYER of understanding to the meaning of the cards; without repeating or rehashing the technical meanings behind each card. I'm very familiar with the language she uses in the understanding and processes of co-creation of our experiences with spirit, and the power of our intent/affirmations within our Inner World. I feel that Colette clearly and fully explains WHY this deck is designed the way that it is, and what makes it different from other decks on the market. Is this designed for a Beginner? Perhaps not. UNLESS the beginner needs to learn the mechanics of using the Tarot, in that case, an additional teaching tarot book would be useful. Is it designed for the Seasoned reader? Yes. There are no printed phrases or borders on the cards to distract from hearing your own inner guidance. Since I've worked with several decks over the years, often times when I look at any given tarot card, regardless of what deck I'm using; the corresponding images of the same card from another deck will be shown within my mind's eye. THIS deck provides the ADDITIONAL layer of understanding behind the energy of the card's meaning. The card stock is standard size and thickness like most oracle cards, the laminate is medium gloss, and plain edging - no gold or silver. Which I'm fine with because oftentimes that kind of edging irritates my fingers when shuffling. I had pre-ordered this deck and have been using it daily since the release date. Because of the gloss finish or perhaps the deck may need broken in more, the cards still have a tendency to cling together while shuffling. Regardless, I've very happy with my purchase and it makes a great addition to my Tarot collection! Review: Gorgeous deck - This deck is beautiful. The artwork is so lovely and the accompanying book and channeled info makes for wonderful readings.

This deck meets expectations... and then some!
When I first saw that Colette Baron-Reid was doing a tarot deck, I hoped that it would be as amazing as her oracle decks. This deck is nothing short of beautiful and the energy in them is inspiring. This is not your standard tarot deck in the slightest. There are no negative or reverse meanings in the little book provided. She has taken the effort to take the more negative cards (Tower and Devil) and written them to have a more positive connotation. These cards are also written for the here and now, not vague "you may be going on a trip". Instead, she's changed it to, "I am travelling to new territories and am eager to experience all that this land has to offer me". She also takes the traditional suits to reflect the elements they represent: Swords = Air Cups = Water Pentacles = Earth Wands = Fire The cards themselves are on good paper, aren't flimsy, won't tear, and are laminated. They are the size of her oracle cards, not standard tarot cards. They are definitely an uplifting favorite and give positive messages. It is definitely a GOOD tarot and worth purchasing.

Beautiful Deck and Book
The more I go through these cards, the more I love them. The images are just amazing. I love reading the Elements, which is still the same as reading most other decks--you just need to remember that Fire is Wands, Air is Swords, Earth is Pentacles, and Water is Cups. That's easy. The Majors have had some new titles added, such as Transformation and Patience and Call and Temptation (in place of others). The court cards and pips are nice. I'll spend more time looking at each and reading the booklet to see if I can 'see' the particular message in the art. This being a Hay House deck and, in the tradition of Doreeb Virtue, this is without the harsh/negative messages of typical tarot. I have no problem with this speaking in a gentle tone. I can still read them with the meanings I know, and I can add in the ideas from the little book. I like the book. It's a good size, and well written. Yes, there are a couple of errors, but I was a publisher and errors are a part of printing. They'll no doubt correct them on the next print run. I don't see any of the issues others have mentioned about the cards. Sturdy stock. Laminate isn't peeling on the deck I got, but it will show scratches. That's okay! I don't see how it will affect the images or 'readability' of the deck. Intuition will be the best way to read this one! I've been reading tarot since the 60s, and have many decks to choose from in my collection. I'm pleased to have these!

You will not regret buying these cards
This deck is amazing! I understand everyone has a different set of criteria they look for in a deck but this checked all my boxes. The illustrations are beautiful. They are all soft watercolors with a vivid quality. These are not the stock photo-esque fairy, witch, angel, animal, etc illustrations seen in far too many decks. The illustrator was thoughtful and went out of her way to use creative imagery. These cards are much larger than most tarot decks and of thicker cardstock-HOORAY! For me, this makes them far easier to shuffle. If you have any of Doreen Virtue's Angel Oracle Decks these a just a tad larger. While the illustrations are gorgeous it is really Baron-Reid's guidebook and re-imagining of the traditional rider-waite deck that makes The Good Tarot such a standout. Reid, like many of us, was sick of the 'good' card vs 'bad' dilemma so many struggle with and the fatalism that is falsely associated with tarot. The explanations in the guidebook and each card's phrasing is written in the present tense and deals with how the subject can make choices/decisions and what the effects of those decisions may look like in the near future. It is inspiring, affirming, and positive while being grounded and using realistic language. This is great for anyone new to tarot because the guidebook is so user-friendly and is wonderful for readers because it can help deliver clear, concise, and kind messages for any situation. While I love, love, love this deck I understand it might not be for everyone so if you identify with the following these might not be for you. -Find big, thick cards uncomfortable to work with/shuffle -Don't like decks that deviate from the standard organization/naming structures (rider-waite, toth, etc) -Don't like decks that some would consider "girly" with soft images, pastels, etc -Are a reader whose clients expect a lot of drama, theatrics, mystery, etc But if you are down-to-earth, are looking some unique and beautiful tarot art and want to learn more about how you can improve your life using tarot this is a GREAT deck.

The Deck is Beautiful. But not for me.
I thought The good Tarot might be a good deck for me. I love the positivity & the beauty of the artwork. But, I cannot connect to the deck. There is nothing wrong with the Deck, other than it really is too large for my hands. I find them cumbersome and difficult to handle. None of that would matter if I could feel them. Alas I cannot not. They are true to the listing, very pretty to view. Someone will cross my path who they will talk too. That, is not me.

One of my top 5 decks!
The artwork is so captivating and beautiful, and the moment I began working with them, I felt so divinely connected to these cards. I'm so grateful I bought this deck! I absolutely love Colette Baron-Reids' oracle and tarot decks. The cards are a bit larger than a poker card, and the stock makes it sturdy enough for some rough shuffling of the cards. I highly recommend buying this deck!

Brilliant!
Truly Amazing! I love, love, love this deck! It has some of the most gorgeous illustrations I've seen. My connection to this deck was so instantaneous, even through the computer screen, that I bought it almost before I realized it. That connection has not wavered at all since receiving it about a month ago. My connection with it is on such a deep and intuitive level that the readings I do with her are almost scarily accurate. (If you know what I mean!) I love the more positive aspects of this deck and the positive affirmations given to each card. I have a tendency to see or look for the positive side of things in my daily life and this deck really helps you achieve that. Actually when I use this deck one of my signifiers is card #13 Transformation (or Death in more traditional decks). Let me also address this, since for some reason it upsets people. (Though honestly, everyone that I've seen have a problem with its non-traditional ways?? seems to prefer strict card interpretations, and that's just not how I roll LOL!) I say not traditional but really though it has a more positive spin of the cards, some cards have been renamed, and some of the "traditional" imagery and symbolism are not there it is still based off of the Rider-Waite system. Also, if you have a tendency to use the guidebook you will notice that no reversals are included but that does not mean you cannot use them with this deck. I certainly do and have not had any problems.

Hermoso!!

The Good Tarot: Beautiful, inspiring, soothing, healing, nurturing, truly wonderful unique deck
The Good Tarot by Colette Baron Reid. Oh my days I adore this tarot deck so so much!!!!! There has been a lot of noise about this in tarot community as a result of its name, which has caused some controversy. I bought it after seeing it on a flip through of all the cards, on You Tube and I adore it soso much. The images are many layered and blended Photoshop style and there is so much in each picture, if you like to read intuitively its amazing. The pictures are soothing and gentle and great to meditate on. Please buy this deck because you like the art, maybe have a look at flip through video's that are on You Tube if you want to see all the cards first. I did that and loved so many, that from a collectors point of view, it had to come home. Having worked with it now, I am very bonded to this deck, it has a wonderful positive energy to it, and its images. If you choose to read the book that comes with the deck you will find it full of affirmations. Some cards have prompts to move you along in a given situation but the book is written in the first person, so they read as if you were speaking to yourself. My previous fave deck was; Native Spirit Oracle deck for its soothing imagery, and The Good Tarot is another one to go to, when you want to meditate on beautiful images. I can't say I know enough about 'traditional' tarot to comment on how 'well' its meanings translate in this deck. There are some cards I know and love well and seeing them in this deck some have been treated differently to what I would expect from tarot but personally I find that refreshing. Not sure what I make of the Hermit card being an intricate wooden door, and as others have mentioned the 8 of cups image in this deck does have a different look from trad tarot. Many other cards are so beyond beautiful and with such depth of meaning and feeling they make you want to cry (in a good way). If you come to the deck after being solely interested in Oracle, then this is a great transition deck. It does feel like its the offspring of Oracle n Tarot blend. There is no death card, no scary skeleton, instead number 13 is Transformation and the person in the card holds up a phoenix rising from the palm of her hands. The traditional death card is about change and transformation, yes possibly an ending but NOT about mortality literally, this makes the Good Tarot's working of the card so perfect. In the book, the author advises you to use this deck for single or at most 3 card draws, as a review of where you are now and advice on that, rather than for predictive readings. I feel this is mostly because of the wording in the book, if you are reading the images intuitively then I don't see there being a problem using it in a more expansive way, but I am a newbie to traditional Tarot so am in no way experienced enough to comment more deeply in that area. Due to the intricacy of the images, I have had several occasions where I got a feeling/connection, from the deck that really spoke to how I was feeling in that moment which was perfect, yet totally different to what was written in the book. This can be the same for any Tarot or Oracle deck so it is not a negative thing. For me it is a case of looking at an image and feeling how it feels, how it makes me react in response to the question I have posed rather than being fixed to books. But we each look for different things in a deck and use them in our own ways too. The other deck I have for Tarot and love is The Dreaming Way Tarot, that deck has beautiful drawn images that feel follow more close to the RWS system if that is your preference, BUT The Good Tarot has become my main deck, because of its layered beautiful imagery. Is this the right deck to use if you want to learn 'traditional' tarot and are wanting to use it with the one of the host of 'learn tarot' books that are available? No. Simply because those books are based very heavily on the RWS system and describe those traditional images. The images in the Good Tarot, are unique and do not rely so heavily on the RWS system. You would find it confusing to use this deck with those books. However as a stand alone deck, if you come to it from Oracle only experience then it is wonderful. Yes the basic Tarot structure is there; 78 cards with some rewording for some of the major arcana, and court cards, also the use of earth, air, fire water instead of Wands, Swords, Pentacles, Cups. I'm guessing this is going to be a marmite situation, if you have no prior experience of tarot or have found traditional RWS images..how do I put this.. intense, (I am not a fan of the original RWS decks, personal choice, to each their own) which is why I chose the Dreaming Way tarot as those images were softer. If like me you find that traditional style not to your liking but you are wanting a deeper/different experience to Oracle then this deck is really really worth considering. It feels very earth/natural spirit based. there are plenty of animals, faries, and blending of fantasy with folk style in a very multi layered image. This is defiantely one of those decks where each time you see a card you will see something new within it. Highly recommend this deck, for its own merit. Please take it as an individual and unique deck and appreciate it on that basis, rather than comparing it to what you expect to find in a traditional tarot deck. Beautiful, inspiring, soothing, healing, nurturing, truly wonderful unique deck. Get it, you need it, you want it. If it calls to you, say YES.

Beautiful imagery that will inspire your readings…
There is nothing like opening a new, beautiful Tarot deck. I love the card stock of this deck. I love the size, easy to shuffle with my smallish hands but the visuals, the artistry is what I love most and why I was drawn to this deck, energetically. The guide book is also interesting and will be helpful to readers newer to Tarot. Highly recommend…

A gorgeous and uplifting tarot deck with beautiful artwork and a very gentle, intuitive energy.
The Good Tarot is an absolutely beautiful deck and a joy to work with. The artwork is stunning, dreamy, and full of gentle symbolism that makes each card feel uplifting and intuitive. What I especially love is that this deck brings a more positive, compassionate energy to tarot without losing depth or meaning. It feels encouraging, reflective, and emotionally supportive every time I use it. The guidebook is also thoughtfully written and makes the deck approachable for both beginners and more experienced readers. The messages feel empowering rather than harsh, which makes it a wonderful deck for self-reflection, daily guidance, and personal growth. The card quality is lovely, and the overall experience of using the deck feels calming and inspiring. This has become one of my favourite decks because it offers insight in such a gentle yet meaningful way. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants a tarot deck that feels beautiful, nurturing, and deeply intuitive.
