I bought this to do my first leather project. Although I don’t journal, I made a journal cover. I cut, rounded, polished the edges, punched the holes, and sewed with complimentary colored thread. Then, I added a long elastic band that threaded through the cover, allowing me to attach four journals inside. Finally, I added the elastic to keep the cover closed. I love it. I tuck a pencil inside so it’s always ready. I find that I can pick up the notebook to make my notes without getting distracted and forgetting what I was going to note down. When I pick up my phone to make a note, I get distracted by an important message, notification, alert, appoint, or whatever, and after quickly addressing that, I forget why I came there in the first place. That never ever happens with the notebook. Anyway, the leather is nice. It has a nice patina, feels nice, and smells fantastic. I’m glad I bought it. I do buy leather in larger quantities now direct from the leather shops, but they’re usually veg tan, not this oil-infused leather. I’ll but it again in the future.

Seems to be good quality leather, did a couple small leather slips as practice with scrap leather before trying out this one. It was much thicker than my scrap but just the right thickness to feel substantial and durable. I did all the work on this with just a Swiss Army knife, I’m sure if I could make something really beautiful from this if I bought the correct tools. I’d say I have enough room out of the sheet to make 2-3 more items of this size, the leather darkened considerably when I oiled and waxed it but that is to be expected. It didn’t seem to take wax as easily as my scrap pieces. A lot of brown was getting onto my cloth and some streaks occurred when oiling so I assume it is dyed to some degree, overall good size and value though

I was genuinely impressed with the overall quality and consistency of these sheets. The leather has a smooth, supple feel with just the right amount of thickness for small craft projects. It cuts cleanly, holds its shape well, and has a nice, even finish with a rich color that looks great in finished pieces. The surface has a soft, slightly oiled texture that makes it easy to work with, and minor marks buff out easily with a cloth. Each sheet arrived flat and free of defects, which made it simple to start working right away. For crafting, tooling, and general hobby use, this is a solid, reliable material that delivers exactly what it promises.

This is extremely dark leather. From a short distance it looks black. I would say this is more like a roasted coffee bean…it is that dark. But I don’t mind it hence the 4 stars. I realize that all screens will make the color look different but this is very different from the pics in the listing. Also, if you do not like leathers that mark easily this might not be for you. I don’t mind it so I’m looking forward to how it will look in a few months.

The smooth side of the leather was virtually black - the color of a dark roast coffee bean - and not even close to the photo description. Not only was the color WAY off, it had a shiny appearance which was very inconsistent across the sheet. At first I thought had some sort of protective plastic material on it, but discovered that it didn't; it was just some sort of black greasy surface coating. When I wiped it with the pad of my finger (not the nail) it left a black residue on my finger and the leather changed color from just the soft finger pad. The only thing positive about it, was that it was real leather. The second issue was that when it was put in a padded envelop for shipping, it was folded twice, which left two very distinguishable streaks across the entire sheet. I returned the product immediately.

It worked great for engraving on my shot glass holders

Used this for a mini book project where I had to stretch it up and make it look a little beat up. It scratches easily which was perfect for my case, but something to keep in mind if you’re not looking for that.

As described, protects my knee from flintknapping

The leather has good quality. I use this Item for my premium leather craft.
