I learned from my grandson there are differnt kinds "sizes" of Rubik's Cubes: 2 x 2, 3 x 3 and 4 x 4 (most challengine) so find out which size/challenge the person you are gifting to would like.

This invention by Erno Rubik in spring of 1974, eventually renamed the Rubik's Cube, would become the most popular puzzle toy in the world, with more than 350 million sold as of 2018. The second Rubik’s was 4x4 Rubik’s Cube. These are two different animals and the solutions to solving these two puzzles are not transferable. The next Rubik’s Cube was a 5x5. And from then on to the higher numbers of cubes sizes have a transferrable solution. Cost was $9.36 so it’s a value for the money. Turns smoothly.
